Wow...it's 2020, I need a decent solution for a portable raspberry pi, and from what I can tell this is STILL the way to go. I love Adafruit on so many levels, but one of the many is just that they provide things like this that make things SO much easier. Really appreciate the work that you put into the design, choices, and quality.

Are these boost only, or buck-boost? In other words, does the battery have to have a voltage BELOW the output voltage, or can it also be equal to or above as well?

Hello! Can any of this be used to power and charge a raspberry pi 3? I would really love to know, I'm working a small project with a Pi3 and this would be fantastic, specially those re-chargeable ones.

So quick question I am working on a Google aiy voice kit with the pi 3 b+ and seem to need 5v 2.5a will you be releasing a boost for that later?

Will this work in a 12v situtation for automobile applications? We need a way to power everything from the keyed ignition that allows for a safe shutdown after the keyed ignition goes to off. Basically once it goes into UPS situation, can it auto power down?

The light means the 500c is finished charging. Can you keep it plugged in and run your device off it (continuously plugged in), or does it need to be unplugged to avoid overcharging? Is this the same with the 1000c? which is available for me online

So this looks great, but is there a chargeable version that can supply 2+ amps safely? The new Raspberry Pi 2 model B requires at least 2 amps.

What if I want rechargeable batteries and 1000 mA? You mentioned running a raspberry pi. Doesn't the RPi require 1-2 Amps to work properly... especially if you have some moderate load on it.. i.e. USB 3G dongles? What do you recommend in that case? Is it even possible? Would really appreciate any help. thanks!

Hi, noobqestion here: Can i use for the Powerboost 500 a 300mA Lithium-Cell? Other cells are too big for my porject, they dont fit in my case, but i still need 5V Voltage für my Arduino Nano... Greetings from Germany

Wonderful! It's like a MintyBoost on steroids. I love the MintyBoost, but even when powered by 3x AA batteries, it can only add about a 35%-40% charge to my Galaxy S3. The one thing I enjoyed about the Mintyboost was soldering it all up myself. It's fun. Anybody know where I can get holders for 18650 batteries? I have a flashlight which uses them, and I'd like to use them to power this board as well. I always have one with me, so it seems like a good choice.

When the low voltage red LED turns on, will it cut off the output power or would it continually drain the lipo until you manually disconnect it?
@patrickthenomad
@patrickthenomad 2 роки тому
I came here to ask this question. Using these boards with lipo or lithium ion batteries is completely useless and dumb if it will still destroy the battery if you're not watching the board and waiting for the low battery indicator light to turn on.

I have a question im trying to make my pi mobile but the control board / screen also requires alot of juice will one powerboost 1000c work for both modules ?
@DrJIMMI
@DrJIMMI 7 років тому
doctor who? I would verify with manufacturers specs, some screens require 7V at low amps but can run off 5V with more current as they have their own regulators inside. I know the pi3 recommends 1A but will run off less. if the total current in the manufacturers spec sheet is less than 1A then the 1000C will work, if not you may need to build your own voltage regulator circuit that can supply more current.

I'm a newbie on this, but doesn't 3AA inline baterries gives you 4,5 voltage? (1,5*3) and so on? so the question is, what about if I'm using 10AA inline batteries? do I need a 5v battery regulator? thanks in advance.
@Jahmas88

can i give power both 10" lcd n rasberry pi 3 ? with powerboost 500c ?
@DrJIMMI
@DrJIMMI 7 років тому
SPIDY Ghotra I believe you require 1A for the pi3 to run without running out of current with attached devices, I was able to power on the pi3 with only a few hundred milliamps but it shut off soon after startup because of the current draw. I would recommend the power boost 1000C for you application, but check what the load is on your screen as it may require more current at lower volatges
@CapitaineBleuten
@CapitaineBleuten 8 років тому
QUESTION here, when you say e.g. Powerboost500 can supply at least 500mA, what does it mean ? Does it mean that if my project consumes only 100mA it won't work at all ? Or that the maximum current that I can draw is at least 500mA?
@DrJIMMI
@DrJIMMI 7 років тому
CapitaineBleuten current only takes what it needs, the max current the supply device can output is 500mA. this means that if your device only requires 100mA it will only supply what your device needs, this will also give you a longer usage on the battery because it is not drawing the full current. Devices only take what they need from current so you can always get away with more but never less.
