Just because cookies are homemade doesn't mean they're cheap. You still have to pay for the ingredients to make the cookies. My mother makes fruitcake cookies every year and the pecans she puts in them are not cheap. She wouldn't even let me take any to my Christmas party because she said they were too expensive. Food pantry reliant, struggle to pay basic bills, etc.) Whenever we have church potlucks, the homemade stuff is always THE BEST! Even the expensive store-bought stuff is way worse, and everyone knows it. I feel like this girl is middle-class pretending to be rich already. "Keep up with the Jones" expecting all their rich friends to play the part. Real rich people aren't impressed that things are expensive. Quality and Functionality beat Cost everytime. If it tastes worse or looks bad (actually bad, not homemade/slightly squished/imperfect/etc) then it's worse, even if it's 100x more expensive. Even Gucci and clothing brands know this, as their cheap stuff is the stuff with big logos and outlandish designs, their expensive stuff tends to be a lot simpler and discreet.

Homemade ANYTHING is ten times better. When I make homemade food, my family eats it even if I messed up the recipe slightly because of the time and effort I put into it. And when I can give something that I made to someone I love, it feels like the best love and joy in the world when they show how much they like it. I loved this episode and hated it, because I’ve seen both sides.
