Russ Wilson was a horrible trade. Broncos screwed up getting him and then that contract extension. Can't blame Payton if the salary cap is screwed.

In terms of his arm strength he was correct. Have you seen the video of Zack Wilson's pro day? He's making throws nobody in the NFL other than Mahomes & Allen can make. One of them is a perfect strike to a receiver in stride running in a full sprint 60 yards downfield that he launches running to his right, falling backwards and off one leg. There's a UKposts video of him in an NFL game throwing a 40 yard bullet on a frozen rope into a tight window. If he were in the current draft only Joe Milton would be in that category with him. He has generational arm talent, that has never been his problem. IF he somehow puts his career back together in Denver with a great coach instead of a bad one like he had with the Jets, he's the steal of he decade. If he doesn't, they lost nothing.

Brees was not even close to elite before he played for Payton though. He only completed 62% of his passes for 80 tds, 53 ints an 84.9 passer rating and 209 yards per game his first 5 seasons then in year 6 he got Payton as his coach and BOOM! Led the league in pass yards, 3rd in tds, 3rd in passer rating, 1st team All-Pro and was 2nd in mvp voting. He went from a good starter to mvp/hof level with Payton
