I watched it today and very few people looked "scared" at all. Tom Hanks? He looked more like he was agreeing with his comments, but biting his tongue. Gwynth Paltrow - laughing. The old farts from the "Godfather" movies? Laughing. He even made a comment that no women were nominated as best director and then claimed the committee decided to fix that problem by making sure women were no longer hired as directors. His speech was pretty progressive actually.

Why wouldn’t Brand show Gervais respect ?
@ericb4512
@ericb4512 Рік тому
@@neilmoore5387 I don't think it's disrespect but he's a lot less reverential with most of his guests and often interrupts them with long monologues disguised as questions. The three people he's least done that with that I've seen are Gervais, David Lynch and Eckhart Tolle (there might be more but Luminary isn't available here so I will never know for sure) so it's clear he has special reverence to those three people, and to be fair he probably should. Though as interesting as some of his monologues are I do wish he'd let some of his other guests finish their thoughts, he can reserve his own thoughts for his solo videos.

@@ericb4512 Yes good point actually mate. I’ve seen him interview Richard Adoybe too and gave him respect as he’s knows he’s a very intelligent man. Brand is OK and I’ve seen some of his stuff on Rumble but it’s all about American politics etc. Do some on the state of this country. I know he has in the past but should spend more time doing it. He’s clever is Brand and very funny but becomes a bit self absorbed to say the least. One appearance I love he did was on MSNBC in America “ Morning Joe” and he had them eating out the palm of his hand and took over the show as it was so unprofessional. He’s always been a loon has Russell but it was nice to see Gervais get the respect he deserves yes. As I say too right though. Brand could never write anything as groundbreaking as The Office and Extras. Two genius shows.

I know exactly what Ricky is saying about animals when you have a cat that lives with you (cats don't have owners just staff) and it chooses to hop up onto your lap it's still a privilege that animal trusts and loves you also animals love us unconditionally. I looked after my friends cats for a month recently and I loved every minute of time with them and the one that was timid and scared of being in a different house became the one who had a routine of climbing up after his dinner and hop on my lap laying upside down stretched out and I'd scratch his tummy for an hour and it's such a great thing when an animal trusts you like that. Love all animals ❤

Athiests dont need God. Christians don't need fake sciences. Disprove the God is pointless by hiding behind "science" because God doesnt need nature to do anything since he created the nature. It would be like thinking a computer prgrammer needs his computer.program to prove he exists. The bible is clear not to idolise nature and think God is nature. God is not of this world. He created it just as a builder may have built a building but that doesnt mean him not being insode the creation is proof of no creator of the building. Dumb guys exist in both athiest and fundame talist groups. When someone says tbey are smart but its self-titled label, then be cautious. Usually you are smart because others gave the title of smart to you through things you achieved. Eg nikola tesla actually built demonstratiins for his science to the public to prove things to the lay man not write stuff on paper only. What did einstein do? jack shit. Athiests that dont do jack are not smart athiests. They are just reacting to dumb fundamentalists to feel smart. We live in a time of fake science where people literally think carbon dioxide is killing the planet and british people still think we need a queen rather than being independent like america who actually fought for values that are universally acceptable. We have a long way to go. So sure, go fight the fundamentalist extremist muslims but dont say christians are the same. When was the last time you saw christian rape gangs? I think rocky needs to travel the world. See what christians have done for africans and witness the healings. You wont find miracle in big coties because people there are not suffering. Actually get off your ass to see the suffering of poor people rather than whine that "God is cruel for not helping them", when you can work to help them yourself or act as God's agent. The reason people believe God exists is because you cant create.something from nothing. When you do let me know and i will become an athiest and start making food from thin air and growing plants with my mind. lol

I understand so deeply what Ricky talks about with feeling profound spirituality from experiencing nature without having religion, and the true pleasure of being entrusted to act with care for our animal friends. I often stare in awe at beautiful sky, clouds, the moon, the smell of the woods, the beauty of snow covered mountains. I have had cats and dogs, but the times I feel touched to my core is when my rat falls asleep on my chest or when her sisters stare at me and their excitement when I open the cage for them to come out. It's the same feeling when my hamster sits on his wooden house staring at me and climbs into my hand to have a stroke and some tasty treats, it is such an incredible honor to gain the trust of animals who are evolved to fear everything due to being so low on the food chain.

@dlracer2 They absolutely do KNO how-most just CHOOSE 2 share w/us only their genuine love, dedication, & appreciation...which is even better, i believe, then them simply not knowing how.. & so that i am actually ADDING 2 the conversation as opposed 2 idiots on here that comment 'wrong!' Or 'Nope'-just 2 be a stank turd-here is my info-4y i must disagree: when i used 2 take my retrievador, MarleyMae(nicknamed BB, oddly enough w/o context, i guess)(Who i will continue 2 grieve until i am blessed 2 b w/her again.:( ) & her lil brother, Lil Wailer-2 play fetch & let them run & chew on sticks & such- as soon as i would put them out, theyd hit the ground running, looking for their chosen stick for that day. Lil Wailer was the standard epitome of a lil bro 2 BB-he wanted 2 b near her always, wanted what she had always, & once her joints got bad, he ran slower & literally let her win each of their races..etc...but my BB was so much smarter than him(sry Lil Wailer-i luv him so tho!)& each day i watched her get more & more frustrated over him taking her perfectly chosen stick from her. The day she decided how 2 fix this was not my 1st clue of how brilliant she was, but i did get a kick out of it. After a while, she managed 2 tweak their routine so they both got their way. She started running out 2 choose her stick, but once chosen, she'd pause a lil, look around, & grab a stick nearby instead. Which of course, my Lil Wailer would goofily frolic over & take from her. The 1st time i saw she was a bit 2 happy this time-2 have her stick taken, then i saw what she did there. She ran bak over & grabbed the stick she was just by moments b4. & She did that each day from there on out...They def KNO HOW 2 deceive.. i mean some animals change color or are built w/other wonders merely 2 blend in so they can attack or hide from prey or predators...deception. but like i said-isnt it better that they kno how & choose not 2 wen it comes 2 loving us?? :)

@@jillmarie9067 I feel the same way as Ricky. I have a feeling that there is this energy of good and evil and we just say God is good and evil is Satan. I've always loved nature, animals, scenery, just seeing life. Animals always come up to me and try to communicate with me. As of this moment, I feel that God is real, but God is not a person. God is just all around pure loving energy. I also feel that we shouldn't need directions on how to be a good person. I don't go to church or read the bible, but I know what's right and what's wrong. It personally sickens me that atheists tend toward extreme empathy for animals while never mentioning and completly ignoring the Christian calling to care for poor, weak, less fortunate HUMANS. I swear athiest use animals as a virtue signal, and it just seems misanthropic to me. Also, every animal rights non profit leader I've ever know was a massive narcist? After Life is one of my favorite series. Showing there's no right way to grieve yet it addresses the "stages" of grief. I had to watch with tissues. After Life is beyond brilliant. I felt it so deeply. I've experienced the loss of my child, too many relatives to count, half of my graduating class are dead. I'm 38. When my mother died, I felt relief. I had a cousin intentionally die so he didn't have to spend the remainder of his life in prison. When I began watching After Life, my aunt had begun chemo. We were very close. She died while I was watching the last season. I was diagnosed with uterine cancer in the second season. I'm fine and cancer free. After Life helped me. It doesn't matter that it's a series. It touched me so deeply. My aunt and uncle married at 17. When she passed, he was lost. Their life was wild and beautiful. Underneath all their quirks, everything was based on love.

Russell and Ricky! Thanks so much for bringing your Considered and unapologetic outlooks together in this program! You both bring enjoyment and enlightenment to so many! I wonder if either of you have read Michael Pollan’s recent book, “How to Change Your Mind”. It’s about psychedelic experiences, history, and their use as end of life anti-anti anxiety treatment. He reports that some people who have experienced the “journeys” have felt, and reported their sort of involuntary melding into “oneness” with something beyond their experience, and the removal of fear of death afterwards. He also reports that people who meditate can achieve a similar effect. (As an artist, I used to slightly regret my lack of interest in the practice of meditation, until I read somewhere that painting/artmaking is a FORM of meditation.) Anyhow, very good book on mind travels…. Thanks again for the great discussions! 🤗 Patty in New Hampshire, US

"whistles and shakes my head in a " WOW " kinda way. The Bible Isa wonderful collection of" stories" for the mere reason of calming the masses and also most importantly... To herd the followers too weak to be leaders in the world over their own lives. It's mere morality that's preached hun. Nothing more...nothing less. May your God help you get through this ranting and possibly something bad that may make you snap. You're very close to the edge. Unless, this is how you've managed your life all along. Russell displays such patience and active listening. Always allowing the subject to come to their natural conclusion. You can really tell he is learning from and relating to each person he meets to. May be part of his transformation into a man of wisdom and integrity with a sharp wit and fierce intellect. I want what he's having.
@ajwehrig7068

You hit the nail on the head with "ACTIVE LISTENING". Most people who have a channel like this, or even talk radio, they are so used to being able to talk without interruptions from other people, this not having to "listen". Listening and actually comprehending someone else's perspective is an art. So few people are able to listen without their own thoughts interrupting, that they really don't listen. They are too busy forming their own thoughts instead of listening. Russell Brand is quite clearly an expert at not only speaking intelligently, but absolutely an expert at LISTENING. That's how people are able to have a conversation like this, and not end up in a huge argument. They are both communicating with respect for one another, but they are listening, and you can see it in Russell's eyes and on his face that he is intently listening. I respect that... Highly respect that! It takes a lot to earn my respect, but that right there... How can you not respect someone who is so interested in what someone else has to say, that they listen with intent to do just that... Listen.

Brand has grown as a human being over last decade. I don't agree with a fair bit of his worldview but there's no doubt that he's really taken a step back and learned what empathy actually means and that people holding different views to him just isn't the end of the world. I respect that.

Such a good conversation. For me, God, Source, etc., is intelligent energy. We, people, create with that energy. Make of it what you will. When I was 11 yo (1960), sitting in Mr. Hibbs 6th grade class, contemplating my grief over my young brothers death, I had my first significant “spiritual” experience. I heard a clear communication. “Do you think that what holds you together, what makes you move, what makes you think, could ever die?” At same time, my visual experience was of my body separating, literally morphing into energy, while simultaneously, an engulfing sense of peace surrounded me. No one was talking about how everything is energy, in those days. 🙏

yes, and EVERYONE loves it and can’t get enough of it. to look at the television and film/series content these days you’d think stimulating and thought provoking content was dead and no one was event capable of being interested in it. It is very depressing and a lonely place when you think you must be the only one who yearns for intellectual discourse. I think I should ask for my money back off the BBC and other channels. They really should wake up and take notice. We don’t all want films with superheroes in them with the interminable guns, car chases and explosions etc! Enough already. We’re sort of made to feel grateful that there’s a sentence in the film with a couple of words with five syllables in them! Woohoo!

This interview with Ricky Gervais was, by far, one of the best interviews I've ever experienced in my 75 yrs. on earth! First of all, I love the person you've evolved into -- so gentle, intelligent, inquisitive, witty, compassionate, and spiritual -- and it is a profound pleasure to watch you interview any of your guests. As far as Ricky Gervais is concerned, I have fallen in love with him as a result of this interview. His humor, his intelligence, his humility, his love of animals, and his "atheism" are all the characteristics I love about him and I wish I could sit in his living room and discuss the world with him for hours on end. Thank you so much for this wonderful hour I got to spend with both of you!
