PhDs are much more numerous than professors, and getting a professorship takes much longer and is much more difficult, to cut a long story short. Not to mention that you can hardly find a professor who is not a PhD, at least in the branches that award PhDs. Therefore, the title of professor should take precedence.

​@@Matt-1147 From my experience, the Ukrainian far right Organized diaspora (e.g. Ukrainian World Congress, Ukrainian Congress Committee of America, Ukrainian Canadian Congress) (Zelenskiy lost the diaspora vote) really like Snyder and have for a long time.

People like that exist in every country and it's not surprising that when Ukraine is invaded groups like the Azov batallion act to defend their country and rise in prominence. Snyder points out that far-right parties in European liberal democracies have more political support and influence than far-right parties in Ukraine, which is under attack.
