While we're here, we plan to stay at every campground, public beach, and free boondocking site, to see how long we can stay... and for how cheap! Most of all, we plan to just enjoy the incredible weather while we winter in the sun, surf, and sand!

About Us:
Hi! We're Mike & Kerry, the proud owners of a 1992 Bluebird rear engine (pusher), 40' school bus! We named her Bussy McBusface in honor of the RRS Boaty McBoatface travesty!
We built a Tiny-Home-in-a-Bus for full-time living in the most adventure-friendly way possible. Bussy was never meant to be parked in a driveway, waiting for weekend trips or holiday getaways. After we finished the build, we packed everything we kept into the bus and drove away from our old house and into the world of off-grid living, aka boondocking, and endless travel adventures!
Since we planned to be boondocking the majority of the time, we made choices such as; a 100-gallon water tank, an Air Head composting toilet, a 1500w solar power system with 1000Ah in AGM batteries, etc. We'd love to have you stick around and follow us on our journey, from our Skoolie Build Series, to infinite buslife adventures beyond!

In addition to placing mastic on the wall, I’d recommend you also “back butter” your tiles before adhering them. Good luck!

My former in-laws were the "camp hosts" for South Padre Island RV camp ground...The Gulf is amazing..... all the way to where I live (Milton FL) just 20 minutes from the Gulf...

I remember when they said it would take 10 years to clean up the split oil in the gulf of Mexico and a year later no one could find any evidence that there was a problem water looks nice and clean

Occasionally you will see a very large piece of tar washed up on the beach. We are not sure that's from the giant oil spill or not but it's definitely an oil derivative.

YOU NEED TO BACK BUTTER THE TILES. AND MAYBE USE TILE MASTIC RATHER THAN THINSET. AND EPOXY GROUT WILL HELP WITH GROUT POP.

I’d suggest you glue the tile back on with liquid nails or some other adhesive.

Just remember you are on a journey not rushing to a destination. The reason you quit working was to get out of the rat race. Make them short days and you will appreciate things more.

Use a rubber grout...others have said it works better at holding the tiles!

They have a somewhat more flexible grout to use for the repair. Wonderful beach spot for summer in the late fall! On the list now. I love the ocean.

The brand of grout you purchased, also make a "sanded caulk" in the same color. It's flexible like grout but looks exactly like caulk. Also, use a mastic rather than thin set. You could also use a construction adhesive to attach the tile. 25 year contractor.

It really depends on the application. If you're looking for something that is very waterproof and you're using a membrane in your shower you may have to use real grout.

We were on the lagoon side a few years ago and there were man eating mosquitoes. This year we did thanksgiving on port aransas beach. Mike marker 6 I think a mile west of the fishing pier it was beautiful. They have a community program for picking up trash so the beach is super clean which was so nice. Texas gulf coast is great.

I'm headed there next month. Do Magnolia Beach then head down to Padre Is. You can pull right up to the water. Free. Oh, forgot you're a couple weeks behind. Hope you went there!

Hi. Because the Bus has a Ladder Chassis. It twists with the movement of your suspension. Which could be the cause of the tiles falling off. Another great and exciting video. Keep up your great work. Sure entertaining. Regards

Take some pics of both, pleez. 😎 Watching you guys exploring & being at the 🏖️ is the closest I'll ever get, mainly due to $, accommodations & husband's health issues. For both Thin Set and Grout I used a mixture of Le Pages white glue and water as a binder. The tile stores promote it under another label at a greater price. It gives better adhesion and is much stronger. You do have to clean up with a damp sponge right away or suffer if it bonds to the tile surface. Loved your adventure this week. Texas is big enough to be its own country. It takes forever to get anywhere there.

We have a tow bar for the Jeep but the bus gets too hot when we tow so we don't.

Nice. We stayed there at Malaquite for a week. Had lots of salt on our rig and a big storm washed it all off the night before we left....lucky us...In Corpus Cristie is an aircraft carrier you can tour. Its a victory ship from WW2.

USS Lexington. I was on that ship several times when it was the training carrier. We would get on in Pensacola and float to Corpus. Our student pilots landed on the carrier as part of their training. I was in a pilot training squadron out Corpus. Fun times.

Nice picture quality.Yes it can get hot and humid in summer but when you are on the beach it does not feel as hot with the gulf breezes.Another good time is early May or late September to mid October not as hot, but warm enogh to swim.Have a good time will be watching the next videos.

I’m guessing the counter top flexed during motion and popped off the tiles that had no expansion gap between them and the counter. Temperature changes will make materials expand and contract as well, so expansion gaps are critical with some applications.

In this case, I don't think that was the case. When the tile popped off we noticed that there was very few spots where adhesion that had taken place so the tile was basically hanging on by a thread. That said when they're reapplies it will be with construction adhesive.

Being in Tennessee for the last 7 years, I just came back to my native state of Texas (South East Texas) around the 10th of November. It definitely is wonderful from now until about March or April. Yes, in fact I took a raspberry pi with pie star and hooked it to a GD 77 and have been doing DMR up to nine and a half miles away from the bus with my fancy hotspot. I have another channel documenting my ham radio nerdiness. www.UKposts.com/HamRadioisforNerds

Grout just seems to crumble. I have grout that was done by a pro and it started crumbling after about a year.

Don't actually know if that's a thing. However there is flexible grout. We are looking into the best way to fix this.

Once I traced the lines for that trans cooler it turned out to be the hydraulic fluid coolant and so no it didn't do anything.

This is a national park and it is definitely first come first serve here. No reservations at all. But if you don't find a formal campground you can just pull out on the sand and camp for free without any reservations and there's plenty of room out here for you.

How much was it in total for your build? Me and my girlfriend are looking into doing a bus build and we where wondering what we should expect cost wise is we did it ourself

That is going to be completely up to you. The cost of your bus will be determined specifically by how fancy you want it to be. You could simply buy a futon, a Coleman stove, and a 5 gallon bucket for a bathroom and be totally happy. On the other hand you can spend an obscene amount of money turning the inside of your bus into a tiny mansion. You will find your happy medium.

That is one thing that I have decided to do when I get on the road is I want to travel all coastlines in the beginning I miss the ocean really bad living in Georgia the last 40 years in the 70s early 80s I lived in Fort Lauderdale Florida and Deerfield Beach FL right on the beach anyway if you're coming through Georgia and going to be by Atlanta please please message me ahead of time so we can meet up. Merry Christmas oh and by the way I started a new business it's called married by Santa I perform wedding ceremonies dressed as Santa Claus I am a legally ordained minister now. “Caribbean ocean” there is not suck a thing. As well as North America is not continent. We, the people, have the Atlantic Ocean, where the Caribbean countries are located. Also, America is part of the American continent which includes north, central (Caribbean) America and South America, where I come from. 🇨🇴❤️🥑. I just don’t understand why our country is the only country in the world where we have more than 5 continents in our world map and now we have a new ocean! We are lucky! I thought that by being Colombian I was lucky. We can have dual citizenship, we have pacific and Atlantic Ocean. Lung of the world. Just saying .... 🌎
