2B Robison Cano teaching how to use the legs and hands to have more power.

@Adolfo_Mundial7 років тому
He is showing him where to hit for power. He is telling him to hit the ball a little ahead so he can pull the ball. To swing a little early. Then he is telling him to use power from his legs. My credentials: I'm Dominican lol
@TheHiLiteShow77 років тому
The funny thing here is I think he's talking too much. Just a few words on technique here and there after 5 swings would've been enough.
@confyhx7 років тому
Sammy Angel you "think" cuz you arent latin american, you wouldnt understand thats how we are 😁🤣
@Adolfo_Mundial7 років тому
5 swings are not going to improve he needs 1000 swings, and is good that Cano is breaking it down to the smallest detail
@ilmanu78266 років тому
No, he is telling him to take out the hands ahead without staying stiff, his body is staying back and his arms tense. The swing must come out like a punch. NEVER pull the ball otherwise the pitchers will see that and will strike out the batter easy with just a simple outside throw. I'm saying what I learned in DR with the best baseball coaches of the country. Dominican as well lol

it makes me happy to see pros doing this drill...I was taught this at a very young age, but instead of cages, we used the end poles of chain link fences to keep our swings compact, notice the batter puts the end of his bat right on the cage, and keeps the nub about an inch away from his body at :50 ... this is a great drill...and technically speaking , if you keep your hands in, you should be able to swing your bat at any length away from the cage
@br20246 років тому
Kevin Long's drill he brought to the Yankees. Robby loved it when he was a Yankee working with Kevin. Now he is spreading it.
@johnnyjohnson13706 років тому
The sideways screen seems to force the hands inside,they call it the enforcer drill so you can hit the pitch square without casting around the ball,very hard but very effective

Kevin Long's drill he developed as a minor league hitting coach before taking that job with the Yankees. Keeps you inside the ball with a short quick stroke to pull the ball. According to Kevin it was Robinson Cano's favorite drill...

@rjvsmb6 років тому
The take home is hit the inside pitch earlier or less deep than the pitch down the middle or outside? The fence drill doesn't work for the pitch down the middle or on the outside half of the plate. Now, if your focus is to be a middle in hitter, then there is some value.
@the661hero6 років тому

@bafflingdocumentaries84966 років тому
He's telling him that when swinging he needs to focus on pushing his arms forward a little more, to hit with more power

Go look at Ted Williams know and then replay Cano when he try's to smooth the batter out.

That's why u stretch the hips, the groin, the quads the legs the core, the dips the rib cage all of it. Everyone thinks those stretches at the batter's box are just a cool ritual or some quirk by the batter

Obviously it works. He's a genius. Leonys hit the ball much further, and we also know it works because Canó hit 39 bombs last year

With his suspension now, I think we're also finding out what works to hit 39 bombs.

the biggest lesson for me here is the placement of the backstop down the middle of the plate.....
@JediFight7 років тому
Seems to me he is telling him to keep his hands close to the body, but at impact let the hands follow the ball and create separation from your body.
@fabiolito287 років тому
JediFight he's saying hit the ball earlier/in front, he said it's a more natural and fluid swing that way he also was insisting on the hitter putting more emphasis on his hips , he was saying hands inside the path of the ball, and to swing uphill
@111Farrar5 років тому
Jedi....regardless of what Cano is saying in Spanish about other things, you have the most important part correct which is to keep your arms (hands) close to the body during the initial part of the swing and then push them out and away upon and after impact. It's the only consistent way to hit an inside pitch (as opposed to pre-extending your arms). It's all been said decades ago, by Ted Williams, and taught today by Steve Ferroli.

@Demarini716916 років тому
Alright so I'll explain what the net is for. Hitting is all about the kinetic chain/link. To be really basic, your hips slowing down is what speeds up your shoulders and arms. Your shoulders and arms slowing down is what speeds up your hands and the bat. Think of why a whip cracks. Your arms speeds up and slows down. As your arm slows down energy is transferred into the handle of the whip, and along all points of the whip this chain of events happens until it culminates at the end of the whip where it can break the sound barrier. That's essentially what's going on here. The more rotation you have, the more power is generated through this chain. So the first step is obviously to get as much rotation out of you hips as possible, and that is why the net is there. The only way for him to not hit the net is for his hips to have completely opened up by the point of contact, which also guarantees him the most possible power in his swing. I had this problem, I had lazy hips that were maybe a little more than 45 degrees instead of 90 degrees like this guy's here at contact. I was a big guy but didn't get as much power as I should have, and I didn't learn why until it was too late. It's a pretty simple drill that anyone can do to teach themselves the muscle memory to properly open up their hips.
@renemoreda10444 роки тому
The hitter is pulling his hands in and across his body on contact, on every pitch, and rolling over every time. Cano is trying to get him to finish through the ball, which is why he places the two baseballs where his contact point and extension should be.
@dirkdiggler89596 років тому
Yeah it’s just bat speed and torque, keeping your hands inside makes your bat speed up and drive through the zone faster, I’ve done it before and it works, definitely do it next time your in the cage
@eugeneslivko50426 років тому
I see it takes two balls to learn how to hit for power.

the hitter needs to load his hands better and get them a tad bit higher in my opinion. Also getting the ball out front come from firing those hands forward and keeping that shoulder tucked in and not flying out
