This is my favourite monologue ever. I actually performed his monologue in my grade 10 performing arts class and got an A+ for it... it was a Catholic high school, everyone called me Toby after that for the rest of high school. 😆

Rowan is one of the most funniest man in showbusiness. He doesn't have to say anything by just looking at his expressions you laugh loud!

I love how he evolved this old act so perfectly and seamlessly to modern era.

This bit is priceless. I love it when he addresses "The French" and "lawyers" and I am a retired lawyer and have French genes on one side of my family. Using the name "Toby" is hilarious. Atkinson is one of the best comedic actors and overall funny person ever.

About thirty years ago, we had a cassette tape with the original version. If ever we needed cheering up, it went into the cassette deck and we'd be better before long. The first time we heard it, the old man lost it on "the Jews were right" as his (sadly now late) father was Jewish, but an atheist. We couldn't work out where he'd end up!
