It would be roughly $3,400/month in the US. The rent is 45,000 roubles/month. Minimum monthly wage is about 15,000 roubles. Minimum US federal hourly wage of $7.25. So 7.25*40*4 x 3 = $3,480.

@@juzzoo I think we’re taking about the same thing. In the US *_the rent_* would be approximately $3,480, or three times the min monthly wage, which is $1160 (assuming full time, 4 weeks of 40 hours, $7.25/hour). Why should we consider rent three times higher than the min wage? Because in Russia the minimum wage was about 15,ooo roubles, and the monthly rent was 45,ooo, so three times higher. Did I make a mistake?

Yes, I expected something a lot more basic. The kitchen was nice and we have a Samsung FF very similar to that model, but I'd miss a tumble dryer. The bathroom would have made a great second bedroom and a bath- or shower-room could have been slotted in somewhere else (bedroom balcony?). The layout, the lack of a proper shower and no tumble dryer would probably put me off, as well as it being a high-rise. The bathroom acoustics might be great for a singer ... not so much for their neighbours :). I just find it astonishing that, given the amount of land in Russia, they feel the need to build high-rise blocks at all - seems like a throw-back to Communist times.

Reminds me of the 1990s, but the construction of the building reminds me of government housing in California for the indigent and poor. Big block bohemoths made out of cement. Also reminds me of police holding facilities, seems like the same kind of construction. Personally I'm not into minimalist architecture it's too cold and foreboding. But I'm also not big on apartments I like freestanding homes with lots of property surrounding me so I can keep to myself blare my music and shoot guns off or archery privately without being interfered with.

@user-to4ly4pj7x Рік тому
In Russia, you REALLY need to take your shoes off. Also, putting legs in shoes on the seat in front of you in the trains is not a common thing compared to Germany, for example. The reason for that is that after the WWII and especially in the 60-70's Soviet cities were designed in such a bad way (and probably intentionally) that spaces with open soil were left everywhere and mostly not isolated at all. Instead of e.g. lawns, small rocks or smth like that what could keep the dirt away, like in all cities in the developed nations, in Russia every rain- and snowfall causes "shitlavines" of dirt and sand, thus making shoes and cars very dirty. Same for the sidewalks too. And our water drench system is crappy as well, either it's non-existent or it works only partially. That was not a thing in Russian Empire though, because the cities were elaborated in a European way, and not in the communist one.

One thing that is very common here is that generally apartments and houses have very light colors and lots of windows to give a little more joy/light in the autumn/winter months....the problem with many windows is the loss of heat👎and eletricity prices here it went up a lot after the sanctions that the USA ORDERED for europe to put on Russia, and so, we are exporting energy to the "smart" european countries and paying a high price, literally, for this!

@@jerrylee4485 that's not a good thing that electricity and heating in Germany is still on, in the long run, because Germany is an industrial powerhouse, pretty much the only one remaining in the western world, remember that the EU had been buying Russian NG from Russia to prepare for this winter, now though, you guys are paying some hefty prices for the American LNG, and you're dependent on market prices and will soon be competing with China for the LNG, no more long term cheap contracts with Russia you can depend on, that's a death sentence for any production facility that requires cheap energy to be cost effective, first to go are steel, aluminum manufacturing facilities, small businesses, then the rest of house of cards will start collapsing in the next 2-4 years, because you can't keep bailing them out forever and you can't compete with the US and China or even Russia (for example Russia now sells aluminum to the EU who quietly buy it, because Slovalko has closed the production facility for aluminum in the EU) that pay 3-5 times less for energy, now dont get me wrong, people will still buy Mercedes, BMWs etc even if they increase their prices 20-30% in the next 5 years, big luxury brands will survive no matter what, but the whole industrial base? Without the cheap, steady supply of energy with predictable prices? No chance

@@TravellingwithRussell The authorities are quite serious now about things like that. And like it was mentioned in one of the comments here, the owner is at high risk (especially now, lol). Large unit with a very nice view for an absolutely amazing price. All that black is rather gloomy for my taste but the upgraded appliances, great tub and double enclosed balconies are a nice bonus. The landlord has spent quite a bit in updating the unit but the common entryway and hall area sure could use total renovation. Still, for that kind of a price, I’d take it. 🇨🇦

You should keep in mind that for Russia, it's an expensive place. 45 000 rub is an ok monthly salary, 60 000 is normal for a well educated person in Moscow. Also, getting into the city from that place can easily take around two hours.

I like how minimalist it is. And the outside and inside of the building is plain Jane too! But when you walk into the apartment. Amazing! Only think is I wouldn’t like a dark kitchen. I would like all white. Makes it brighter. And you can then see what needs to be cleaning.
