I don't think it's a worth update. I had the note 20 ultra and now I have the s21 ultra for about 9 moths and it's still amazing. The cameras are incredible for my personal use and the cpu (exynos) never stucked

@@xalvarez07 I've got the snappiest dragon a boy can find. But I do not like the lack of an SD card for this phone. And it does feel thick as can be. But with a 5000 mAh battery that charges pretty darn quickly I can't complain too much.

I had the Note 20 Ultra and Pre-ordered the S22 Ultra. Within 24 hrs it was very obvious that the upgrade was not worth it at all so I returned the S22 Ultra and kept my note. Also... SD card is sacred... The phone will have to be realllly convincing for me to let that feature go.

@@nabilhmidouch2019 I upgraded from the note 20 ultra to the new S22 ultra because my note got damaged. I can tell you it feels exactly the same. Ridiculously the same. Even on the hand it feels like it's the exact same phone. When using it for any games or browsing or apps it doesn't feel any faster in any way. Maybe the speeds are so fast now that you simply won't notice it unless you do benchmark tests. It's the only way to tell for me. The single only improvement that I found noticeable are the cameras but not by much. Front camera is the most noticeable for me so far. The speakers are definitely weaker now, and I absolutely hate the fact that it doesn't have the micro SD slot anymore. The Note 20 Ultra is by far the best phone I've had and tbh I wish I didn't had to upgrade it. Anyone with a Note 20 Ultra should do just fine for 2 more years imo. I don't think anyone should be upgrading until the S24 Ultra or whatever the name is going to be. Forgot to mention, the battery life is definitely noticeable on the new S22 Ultra, but I'm not sure if it's because it's a larger battery or because my Note 20 Ultra had less health by the time it got damaged

note 20 ultra sd 865+ variant is still beast of a performer, it looks so stylish even better than most of the 2022 flagship phones.. i am the person who upgrade the phone every year(i also have 13 pro max) but this time i am keeping this note and have no plans to upgrade..i love note 20ultra more than any device I've used till date

Saw somebody on Reddit recommending to change EQ settings: "Second thing, I found that the sound of my s21 ultra was a bit better than my s22 ultra, I've checked the equalizer inside of mu s21U and adjusted my s22u to the same EQ, I barely noticed the difference now. Here's how I've put my equalizer (link)." The link led to a screenshot where it shows: 250Hz boosted by 3 levels 500 and 1KHz boosted by 2 levels 4K, 8K + 16KHz lowered by 2 levels All other frequencies left at 0dB change. Other commenters after trying this said that it sounded near-identical to S21 Ultra especially after turning on Dolby Atmos - give it a try!

The Samsung equaliser is very bad… when you boost a certain frequency all the others get reduced apart from that one, giving the impression of a change in sound, but by doing so you loose a lot in loudness and in sound all around.

I personally think that the S21 ultra(S21 line in general) has one of the best,if not the best camera layouts/modules on any smartphone...It melts into the sides of the phone making it look so unique..

@@cameronbosch1213 be that as it may , durability is also a measure of design , and after seeing the 22 Ultra dropped on its back from a low height it failed miserably, yet the S21 Ultra was leagues ahead in this area .

Who upgrade after 1 year or 1 year and half ? I still have my S8 and finally preoredred the S22ultra If you change your phone every year you will not feel any difference . But changing it every 4 or 5 years is the treat

Disagree. I had the S21 Ultra and now I have the S22 Ultra, and the camera design is so much better. I hated that extra block of material just slapped on there. Yes, they did do well to have it melt into the frame, but I still didn't like it. Also, the S22 Ultra is much more balanced and the top-heavyness is gone.

As a Note 20 Ultra 5G user this reinforces my decision to wait until Samsung releases something truly better. It's a great phone that hasn't slowed down at all for the year and a half I've used it. In a way Samsung is being their own worst enemy by making phones so capable there isn't much reason to replace them often.

While my Exynos Note 20 Ultra 5G's battery is draining super fast and the machine will be slightly warmer when am on the 5G network. (Singapore - Singtel here.)

@@VictorChong0520 yeah, mind is the US Snapdragon version. I rarely get 5g, or home town doesn't have it yet. So only when I travel. I haven't noticed what effect it had on battery life, which is the only thing about the phone that isn't great.

That's an awful way to see it. Phones are not something you should be upgrading every generation, so these small incremental changes are enough for people who still have note 10s or lower phones. These new editions are not for you.

Yes although the note s20 ultra did have problems in my case. The camera did not want to focus for some reason and it got slow overtime. I dont have that problem with my s20 FE 5G. I did buy the s22 ultra to see how it is. The note s20 ultra was beautiful though and good speakers. I have not yet my s22 ultra so I cant say what the difference is really since I used the note 20 ultra for a long time I could say.

@@-_YouMayFind_- I think it is that 108mp sensor in Note 20 Ultra not able to focus and Samsung learned it very quickly. Still upset that my IPhone 12 mini takes better picture up close than my Note 20 Ultra but I love this phone so much. The only way for our phones to focus up close is to use 2.0 x zoom.

I have the 20 ultra, which has internal storage, and I'm heavily into content, so it means I can use media cards, not stuff the phone itself with data. I do not care about the camera being better, because I have actual cameras made for professional stills/video. I still have my Note 3,which has removeable battery, and I changed the battery to some insane 10Ma battery, or something like that, which lasts a week. It has an IR Blaster, Internal storage, and i find that to be the best camera I ever had on a phone. These new phones react more quickly, yet it's not like It's that much of a big deal. My OnePlus phones have a smoother OS and the battery life smashes The Notes, for way less money .I do not get caught up in brands, I get what I need, so I have both, instead of all that childish squabbling on YT about this vs. that.

Thank you for the speaker comparison!! So many reviewers never even talk about the speakers and that is really important to me even more so than the cameras. The cameras now days are all pretty good imo. I mean none of the cameras are really going to give you a bad picture.

9:45 Unlimited mode is not about limiting fps, it’s an off-screen test so that the screen resolution (and other stuff) doesn’t affect the performance

A good comparison! Btw, if you want to make the brightness brighter on the S22 Ultra, turn auto brightness off and then turn extra brightness on. And do not switch the performance mode to maximum, just leave them on optimised.

I tried that as well but it's still lower brightness in hdr videos than note 20 ultra.. It's even lower than note 10 plus.. Note 20 ultra had the highest regardless

I own the GS22 Ultra and upgraded from the GS21 Ultra...this doesn't feel like an upgrade outside of the S Pen. The dim screen is an issue especially with Netflix. A ton of apps aren't formatted for the new screen size. The cameras, screen, and battery life are the same as last year but I'm going to keep it. The S Pen, updated modem, and fast charging are must have changes that I need. Samsung is offering an $850 trade in credit so the upgrade was cheap.

What are you talking about?! I come from an S20 Ultra and the ALL apps that I use are perfectly correct on the S22 Ultra! (I don't know about games as I almost don't play). Mine are Exynos versions. I got mine on 19th February and on 25th I received a new firmware update (I noticed no differences between both). I have the Brightness on auto and I notice no dim screen in no situations. When I play video it plays as bright or brighter than my S20 Ultra. There must be different devices........

I love my S22 ultra I did have a S21 ultra and I dont really ever miss it. I can deal with the sligtly worse speakers since I mainly use headphones and speakers. With astigmatism the slightly darker screen dosen't hurt my eyes as much. But the S21 ultra is a really great phone but I did want the built in S-pen so that's why I upgraded.

I have the European versions of an S22 Ultra + S20 ultra (goes to my wife) and since I bought the S20 Ultra the software had been improving massively everything from the start; So despite with the start firmware, the S22 Ultra is much brighter outside (auto mode is the one that allows 1750 nit) and already faster, the battery lasts much longer and the pencil is great. So comparing phones that had 1 to 2 years of firmware upgrades with one with the original one makes less sense. Samsung usually puts settings from the old model and needs 6 to 12 months to fine-tune the newer one. Which makes me believe that in 1 year the cameras and 3D performance will be what they promise. Moreover: the S22 Ultra is no upgrade for the S21 Ultra but for older models. And it does much more than an iPhone. So CPU or 3D performance on a phone is of a much less interest.

Sept 20th 2022, coming from a Note 10+ , I just ordered a new Note 20 U from a private seller with Amazon 3mo warranty unlocked for $699. 512gb +1tb chip = 1512gb. I own a 45w charger , I've just had the Note 10 for two years now, and I felt like maybe before anything happens I should get the LAST OF THE BEST 👌 SD. You look warmer in all the photos 📸 in the Note 20U. Settings can be adjusted easily. Thanks for the review. The non SD is a scam imo, to not just take your data but make you pay for your own photos monthly, that's crazy!

Consider the decrease in value of note 20 ultra. It's 800 dollar trade in credit now. Another year, it drops to 550 or 600.

I don't personally need the fastest/ best processor to talk, text, and watch the occasional UKposts video. It's great marketing that makes people feel the urge to upgrade when companies are only offering minimal improvements

I went with the S22 Ultra after having my Note 9 for over 4 years. The only things I'm gonna miss are my sd card slot and the fingerprint scanner being on the back instead of the front. It's kind of annoying how the high end body glove case with built in screen protector make the finger print circle visible. I have to get used to that I reckon. Kind of a dumb placement in my opinion to put something visible with the waterproof phone cases on the screen. If it ain't broke don't fix it. I haven't found a case that provides this much protection that hides the fingerprint circle yet.

I have a Note 9, and it still works well, but I'm contemplating upgrading. I do site surveys and projects at power generating facilities, so I really need the pen and camera to do my job, so an integrated pen is a must. I do not play games, or watch movies on my phone... The Note 20 is half the price of the S22 Ultra- but I usually purchase refurbished phones that are 2-3 years out from their release date- so I'm ok not having the latest and greatest. I'm thinking about future-proofing myself a bit though, as my Note 9 no longer receives security updates. Any comments or advice since you just made this same move? Thanks in advance!

7:35 The SG22 display may appear slightly dimmer, but those colours look so much more natural to me. Take a look at the detail in the sky compared to the other two displays. It's almost like looking at one HDR display and two displays without HDR.

Just wanted to show appreciation for what you guys do for us and i hope we reach the million subs very soon ;) Also your 5G speeds are so weird !!! I live in France and my hometown LTE from a Galaxy Note 10 series are over what you have at 200mbps download and 40-50mbps upload But i'm sure inside it's more so the wifi 6e speeds in the future that may differ more from something like the wifi 6 i have access to... as it's much more convient at least for me with around 900mbps down and 500 up at the moment but anyways... I hope y'all have a great day and keep making lovely content for us 😎💪

Was waiting for the S22U for a long time. Somehow still very happy with my Note10+ even though battery took a hit. Actually might wait another year to see what's coming up, and to make the investment worth it with the prices they are going for nowadays...

I live in the UK and have had my note 20 ultra for about 15 months. It was an imported handset from Hong Kong with the snapdragon chip set and is in immaculate condition. Battery life is great for me as I use it as a music device at work. That dolby atmos is Absolutely awesome with our without headphones! I will not be 'upgrading' as only difference really is a little bit more speed from the s22 and a better camera set up but not enough there to justify a switch of handset.

I just got one doubt for the hdr test... at 5:03 we can see that the note 20 ultra screen mode is vivid and s21 ultra is natural, and it'll make difference at that test, or am I wrong?

Louder doesn't mean better sound quality. Also I don't listen to my phone while it's lying on a desk for the most part. I also turn Dolby off. Volume at maximum volume also introduces compression. It's not really the most accurate test imo. But I guess it fits most people's "brighter louder bigger is better" analysis

what a pretentious analysis of his review. It clearly sounds way worse, nonexistent bass and tinny highs. It's objectively bad likely due to maybe not having the proper software yet or just smaller speakers to accommodate for the 5000mh battery and pen support. yall meat ride samsung too much, this was just a bad phone with barely any improvements and in some areas, even worse than its previous iterations.

If pause at minute 11:33 you can notice that is not a 5G the speed test clearly say LTE even when the phone is showing you that you’re on 5G 😑.

After the most recent update, my s22 ultra is performing outstanding. Many bugs including audio, camera, and software issues were fixed for me in the update. My apps are more stable with no crashes and all around software seems more responsive and snappy. Another thing to note is the new haptic vibrator in the phone. Vibrations feel more distinct, similar to a joycon controller, just less intense. I have no complaints with my s22 ultra now. This is one of the best Note/S phones I've ever owned.

For those who wandered in here who already own an s21 Ultra and are now considering the s23 ultra, I would say I had the same general feelings that the test in this video had between the s21 & s22. I ended up returning the s23 ultra right before the deadline. No regrets. Update: I ended up getting the unlocked 1tb 12gb ram version for $1400, plus an additional $600 off for my s21 ultra. Worth it.

The S22 ultra just released. I think it's best to wait for updates that can fix most of the audio and software issues. I have the s22 ultra green and im enjoying it. Being able to utilize WQHD + 120hz with a battery that lasts all day is making the phone enjoyable to use. I upgraded from note 20 ultra and I like the s22 ultra camera A LOT more 👌🏽

I also noticed when playing around with the ultra and pixel 6 pro at a store that when watching UKposts vids the pixel was more detailed/brighter even though the ultra nips it in resolution by just a bit. I was confused, thought maybe the chip on the pixel was better utilized, but I didn't know they could improve it with just an update. I really like the look of the ultra🤤 and the phone is plenty loud as it is, not sure why you would want everyone around you to hear what you're watching/listening to

It’s darker in hdr due to ambient levels of light so the s22 ultra doesn’t get as bright unless the ambient light increases. If just software limitations. They stated this was the case in their event

@@fallenblizzard2441 S22 ultra looks better, I saw them in person. The darks look darker and clearer and the lighter colours look brighter. He has the settings wrong, there's even an extra bright setting which is literally blindingly bright. Pretty sure has the best sunlight readability. I have the13 pro max so I compared it to that, and in all honesty it's far brighter

For the camera test, I believe it was the s22 that was better. While dark, the s22 is way more detailed. I looks to me that it took in more light to define the selfie picture allowing the cruve of the shrit to show. It also showed that the light in the background was a reflection, then when at first glace from s20 it looked like a light. To sum up, it gave more clarity to the background of the image.

Regarding speaker, I really believe that it is due to unit to unit variances rather than model to model. i've had identical phones and laptops and speakers have significant differences in quality from unit to unit. not sure why.

Very nice video of comparing the three different units. Given the history of what Samsung has done, the results were not really surprising. If one considers Sumsung push towards their foldable phones, having some kind of big upgrade did not seem likely. Like others, I'm disappointed in the SD card storage expansion slot. Many phone carriers only offer one version of a phone, and it's not the one with max storage. This forces people have to have use cloud storage or offload to USB C thumb drives or PC. Nevermind that apps, especially games, are getting larger. Many people the storage limitation effects their pictures and videos. I personally did not get this other than maybe for battery, but storage is something people want and need by and large. I did not like it, but I understood removing phone chargers and 3.5mm ports since people already had phone charges from other devices and switching to Bluetooth devices. Samsung should had all more Bluetooth codecs to allow people to take advantage of higher quality headphones, which would increase the demand for better quality content from popular streaming services. I'll most likely be keeping the Note 20 for a while hoping Samsung will bring back the SD card slot. I do hope they keep developing and improving the DEX. Although still pretty niche feature. I think it has the most potential to create another shift in smartphone design or features, especially with things like lapdocks or other on the go computing needs. For many, it literally could replace their desktop needs. Get a new phone, get an upgrade on the laptop or desktop.

You mentioned the fingerprint was improved from software updates which is true, but also past the note 20 they increased the size of the fingerprint reader which also had a hand in it.

@3:30 i notice Dolby Atmos makes my S22 Ultra's sound more tighter, and in turn, 10% quieter. i upgraded from the S20+, and these speakers are soooooo much more crisper and louder for sure. i know this video is from 7 months ago and don't know if they fixed anything with updates, but yeah i definitely feel the phone has loud speakers.

6:19 The latest iPhones max out at 1000 nits outdoors, and the previous iPhones maxed out at 800, not 1200. There's a notable difference between the 13 Pros and previous iPhones, however, and that is the iPhone 13 Pro won't ever reach 1000 nits in manual mode, it'll only reach that under high ambient brightness (haven't seen enough info yet on if 1000 nits is reached if you turn off auto brightness and get under bright sunlight, meaning if the ambient sensor is active and affects the results even in manual mode), whereas previous iPhones reached 800 nits in both high ambient light in auto mode and normal conditions in manual mode, and that's because the 1000 nit mode is a dedicated high brightness mode that only works under high ambient brightness. In Anandtech's test in auto brightness mode in a dark environment when you max out the brightness the screen will scale up to 625 nits, in manual mode it'll go up to 853 nits, while in manual mode in a bright environment it'll offer the full 1059 nits.

I have been looking to upgrade from my old Samsung Galaxy Note 8, a phone which has served me very well, but the time had come, after looking at the improvements offered, I chose the Note 20 Ultra, the difference between performance and features of the 3 devices is minimal, but the Note 20 Ultra still comes with an SD memory card slot, that and I got it for £550 refurbished compared to £1150+ for the S22 Ultra new or £550 for the S21 Ultra refurbished but no slot for the S Pen and no SD card slot, the Note 20 ultra 5g wins hands down for me, and in bronze it still looks cool, oh and it still has a great S Pen.

I'm in the same boat and I'm wondering if I will keep it. The cameras and the modem and s-pen are the only reasons I'm even considering changing out my s10 plus. I got the 12gb ram and 1tb black ceramic.. and other than the ugly front cameras the s10 plus is my favorite phone of all time right now

@@abdomination the s10 is a beast for sure however I never liked the finger print scanner on the front screen. I thought it was better on the s8 and 9. As far as the 22 ultra, I couldn't pass up the Verizon $800 off promo for trading in my s10. They even took it with cracks on the back glass so I'm only paying $12 for 36 months for it. I had the Note 9 and s9 at the same time for free when I worked for Verizon and the S-pen really is a game changer. I mostly love that I can use it to take photos 20 feet away from the phone and control the zoom and scroll through options. No more pulling my hair out trying to get my crazy family and friends to pose for the timer or handing my phone to a stranger to get us all in it 😆Other than that, the squareness and bigger screen were the only differences. The camera lense placement is much nicer and the 20x zoom on the 22 blows the s10 away. I think Apple always had better zoom resolution until now, 20x on s22 is probably the sharpest you'll find for awhile. I'd say if you can get a good deal on it, treat yourself!

I like the smaller size the physical fingerprint reader.. motorola got the most amazing ones now. heartbeat sensor,, iris scanner front led notifications etc.. I was using my s9 plus until it broke and I had been tempted to get it fixed a long time.. now it's kind of just used as an alternative dex

5:58 brightness is linear, not exponential. That’s why in a more dim environment, you will notice a difference but outside, not much difference will be noticed, although it definitely helps. For example (not to scale), if you go from 10db to 20 db of sound, the loudness will double(200% increase) but if you go from 10 nits to 20 nits, it’s only increased by half (50%)

You have your math wrong. 3 dB is double in power of a Sound Pressure Wave. 10 dB is a factor of 10.

About the S22 ultra speakers, I did notic that it's not as loud as my brother's S21FE, but it has a better dolby atmos feeling, you feel like the sound is going into your ears like if you were wearing buds or something, it's strange feeling, you really can't tell untill you try it yourself, and I agree that the speakers meant to spread the sound not focus it, but it depends on own reference, for me I prefer it how it's.

Idk about your results, but I traded my S21 Ultra for the S22 Ultra and, as a previous Note 10 Plus user, I was blown away by the screen. It's by far the best looking and gets stupid bright, even compared to my S21 Ultra. Maybe your device was defective or a bad press unit. I love this phone and will be keeping it until it dies.

I had ultra 22 and found the video playback on Netflix and other streaming to be so much dimmer than s20 Fe. I was unable to fix it with all the same tricks the reviewer used. It would not allow me to brighten the picture out of app. So disappointing for the price and not something I could compromise on. I had to return and now thinking of buying the note 20 ultra - how is video playback (particularly Netflix/TV streaming) on terms of brightness on the note?

I can confirm the speaker on the S22U is worse than the Note 20U unfortunately. If you've got a S21U you definitely shouldn't upgrade unless your having some issue.

There's a glitch in the sound when a notification comes through the volume goes down and doesn't rise untill another notification. I'll be watching something and notification comes through and the volume will increase..... this happened when the latest update came out. I've had the same prob with my tab S7 plus.

I dont know, just switched from N20U to S22U (Exynos) and the phone is way smoother, with much better battery life. I have not noticed the display to be less bright when watching video (did you turn on the "bright" option for video?) and while I cannot speak for loudness of the speakers before watching this video I have thought to myself several times "wow, these speakers sound a lot more spacious or stereo or what". so while I dont want to contradict your experience, mine is quite the opposite.

Upgrading from note 9 :) Tried the fold 3 for some days, but came to the conclusion that it is way too fragile for me and comes with many compromises, daily driving this thing in a normal usecase sucks, so yeah, brick Phone is back 👍

As i mentioned in one of my previous posts , newer is not always better, in my view the Galaxy note 9 was the last full featured note model , and the last model that had the essence of the do everything galaxy note era with all the features and accessories you would expect on a galaxy note . I hate the direction samsung took the whole galaxy line of phones , even if some areas are improved. And people call this new hybrid Ultra a replacement note , but imo just having an S pen and square edges does not make it a proper galaxy note. I will continue using my note 9 until it dies , I don’t see these newer models as an upgrade except in limited areas.

@@mikldude9376 i was thinking that way too, but sadly my notes battery is pretty weak, performance gets dated and the camera isnt comparable to a modern Phone, sadly. Yes, you are absoloutly right, the Note 9 was the last "true" note, cutting away the iris Scanner, Micro sd slot and 3,5mm Jack, also the notification led, was a wrong move from Samsung. Many many good things that defined a Well rounded Phone, poof, gone. Samsung got boring and is on its decline :( But the spen kept me on buying it, as i dont want to get an iphone, Pixel 6 pro isnt Well rounded and i wanted a similar Phone to my note 9, so this was the closest i could get. Far away from perfect, but still good :)

Any chance you guys can compare the UK model and the US model in terms of chips? We dont get the snapdragon in our models. How similar are the two different chips if at all?

How does the pixel 6 pro sounds compared to the s21 ultra? I need a new phone and I was quite disappointed by the speakers from s21, xiaomi mi11 pro and oneplus9 pro. I currently use a Galaxy s9.

The fingerprint sensor is better on the S22 Ultra, I've tested it extensively against the note 20 Ultra. As far as speakers, I noticed lower volume overall on the S22 but what seemed to have really changed is the balance of the speakers: it seems like the S22 fires much more frequencies from the top speaker for some reason. As far as brightness, you have to try the maximum brightness toggle in the display menu but it won't show if you have auto brightness enabled. HDR must me misconfigured, you have to go to advanced features>Video Brightness and put it to Bright. My Note 20 Ultra is much less bright than the S22 Ultra with this setup. As far as benchmarks, mine performs (exynos) above 3600 in multi core. Make sure you toggled the processing speed to "maximum". I get 2300 in wildlife extreme though, but I guess is margin of error there. I would also note that the S22 Ultra has a v2 ltpo display which is capable to go to 1hz refresh rate and a better pixel arrangement as far as homogeneity in dark-green colors. You can better see this with lower brightness. My personal biggest complaint on the S22 Ultra is the vibration motor which is way different than the on on the Note 20 Ultra: it's horizontally aligned instead of vertical, this makes it lighter and less defined and overall worst.

@@williepeterson3318 Yeah until they stop, I won't be buying. I drew the line at the headphone jack and I'm not going to compromise further for the sake of "improvement." Samsung had my money because they weren't Apple, now what's the difference?

I think your average person would trade overall loudness for a more clear sound and better sound separation, which the s22 sounds like it has. Could be wrong tho.
