Stanley Ketchel: A Middleweight who was willing to step in the ring against Jack Johnson who was 6ft1 and weighing over 200lbs. Sam Langford: A man who was 5ft6 weighing around 147lbs- 165lbs in his prime, defeated by Jack Johnson. Who avoided a rematch against Langford after the first bout. Was feared in all divisions from Welterweight- Heavyweight, knocking out Harry Wills a 6ft3 215lbs heavyweight with one punch, who was avoided by Jack Dempsey, Gene Tunney and everyone else. This should give us a good indication that Langford was a legendary fighter.

There is a book with an article called "A Dark Man Laughs" by Al Laney about Langford in his later years. I have the article but wondered if you know the name of the book.

Was it 'The Fireside Book of Boxing' (1961)?

@@randomacousticthoughts Al Laney has a piece in the book so it's probably that one. Do you have a copy of that book?
