We got a chance to check out Samsung's 2024 home theatre products at their facilities recently and we liked what we saw. Their humble Samsung Music Frame doubles as a powerful, satellite speaker for a soundbar and a standalone Dolby Atmos-enabled wireless speaker. Samsung’s 2024 The Frame TV's standout feature is its ability to give you an art gallery experience when you’re not watching TV, but it’s also a pretty great TV in its own right.

Why would one want to connect ONE frame to your 990D sound bar? Wouldn't 2 make a lot more sense?

The fact that it's said to only be compatible with 2024 TVs - even though that would be an easy software fix for older TVs - is utterly stupid. Then again, I don't believe that the music frame would significantly enhance a Q990D setup anyway.

From what I’ve been told, Samsung’s 2024 TVs (some of them) have a new hardware implementation that involves a few new chipsets, including one for security, and another for smart device implementation. I have not gotten them to speak to whether matter and thread are supported, and I think we’ll all know Samsung wants its customers fully invested in its own Smart Things device system, but I’m reasonably certain music frame’s compatibility is tied to hardware, not software. So it’s a matter of can’t, not won’t with prior gen TVs

My question is why did Samsung decide to limit this from working with the Q990D? Unfortunately, it seems the 2024 q-symphony TV is mandatory.

From a review I watched this only pairs with a Samsung 2024 TV. And not the 990D soundbar.

Samsung would've made this even more interesting if they had an actual screen where either the artwork or music visualization. No need for an amoled screen, but that would've made this thing easy more interesting. I guess they'll call it the "ultra" and charge more for it 😂

Article clarifies further: “Alternatively, a single Music Frame can act as a wireless surround-center channel speaker when used with a compatible Samsung TV and soundbar (like the HW-Q990D).”

Can we give credit to Sonos x Ikea for creating this wall picture frame concept? Yes it doesnt have a screen but I recall them offering different covers that showcased different art designs. I love Samsung but they definitely piggybacked off that idea.

Gotta disagree. But then, I’ve known and worked with Simon for over 10 years, thus I have intimate knowledge of the fact that Simon is never gracious with his appraisal unless the device earns it. I gotta say, the Music Frame is pretty impressive. And I’m not surprised. Since acquiring Herman Kardon and building itself an audio testing lab, its soundbars in particular have started earning acclaim. The Music Frame seems like an extension of that success.

Wow a cone of sound instead of a sphere of sound like every speaker in the world? 😅 And even if they restricted the spherical wave into a cone, it wouldn't make it more 3D than a sphere and it would bounce down from the ceiling the same way. Seriously guys, as much as these speakers look cool you should remember physics and not read and repeat the silly Samsung advert.

Yeah I'm gonna need a little more on the critical feedback side of things from Simon. It does sound a bit fanboy-ish. Also, would love to actually know from Simon how it DOES sound mounted to a wall. Love Digital Trends but I think we need a bit more of a push towards the "we put it through its paces and here are the results" and less of a "did you know this thing is out...isn't it cool?" video.

Cool product in theory, but at the end of the day I feel like it's way too niche and given the fact it uses high end technology and that it's a Samsung product, it's probably gonna cost like a million dollars 🙄. Like, I'd be very surprised if this doesn't flop hard

Wired, I’m out! With battery technology why is it so hard to find affordable battery powered Bluetooth speakers for our sound systems in 2024? Why not build these with a battery we need to charge once a month and we could place 10-15 feet away on the wall with no cords? I’ll guess I’ll see that review in 2030 or later!

Call me a Boomer or whatever (even though I'm a Millenial) but one thing I absolutely hate about todays technology was perfectly demonstrated in this video. While watching, my TV's spy software that I cant disable popped up twice. All of that stuff should be able to be disabled completely by the end user. PERIOD.
