A comparison between the two portrayals of princess Diana. One being Emma Corrin in “The Crown” and Kristen Stewart in “Spencer”
КОМЕНТАРІ: 617
@aameyadevansh42462 роки тому
I don't think it's appropriate to compare the two performances. Corrin portrays the young, innocent Diana who is coming to terms with the fact that her life isn't going to be the fairytale she imagined. Her Diana ends on Christmas of 1990, while Stewart's Diana begins on Christmas Eve of 1991. "Spencer" doesn't waste any time trying to explain how Diana ended up where she is, it just delves into a detailed character study, of how she might have been behind the closed doors. Corrin and Stewart were supposed to portray completely different experiences of Diana, and they both did it perfectly

Corrin got the intonation, dignity, accent and looks right. She played Diana the way we know Diana. Stewart got the feel, the suffering Diana felt and the other side of her personality. The closed door personality of Di. But then again The Crown is about the whole Royal Family that dosent really focus on Di since all plot points and storylines revolve around the Queen and Spencer is about 2 day holiday psychological look on Diana.

Its a 50-50 for me. I was blown away with Josh and Corrine’s portrayal and chemistry on the show and they brought rollercoaster of emotions through the season. While Kristen’s portrayal is more adult and somber that you can feel her suffocation within the walls of the palace. I didn’t feel any chemistry with the other characters and I don’t know if that was intentional so the audience can feel how out of place Diana is with the other royal family members except for her children. Without reading the synopsis before watching the movie, I was hoping this was a timeline of her leading to her death as I’m not certain a movie was based on that before.

this movie is not supposed to be a biopic or a medium to accurately represent Diana by any means. It’s supposed to only show Diana’s mental health in a more suspenseful and metaphoric way. Hence why Kristen’s portrayal of her is meek, whispery and very unhappy Diana. Meanwhile, the Crown shows Diana as a young, hopeful and optimistic woman who was put in an emotionally and mentally testing way of life as a royal. Hence why Corrine’s Diana is very much more powerful than Kristen’s.

This is the most paradoxal poker faced scene I’ve ever viewed from a narcissist. He cheats on his wife, the mother of his children, body shames her in the first wedding night, put the mistress rightly before her noise, forcing both to became friends so he can enjoy the other narcissist, the mistress, more closely and doing somersaults with her while his wife spends nights alone waiting for him, criticizing her for everything, even when she breaths. And not satisfied still has the brazenness to whine and shouting the f@ck out of her since she “hurt” his “poor baby”. It almost seems as if Camel was the wife and Diana the mistress. Narcissists really have this ability to live in a parallel universe to the point of not only projecting all their rottenness on the other/victim but they do it in such an absurd way that they distort all those moral values that we learn from healthy environments or are inherent in our nature and conscience and of which we were once proud. The world morality can change but wrong will never be right and right will never be wrong.
@bluerobin8743Рік тому
The only wrong was marrying Diana, well the heart wants what it wants. He should have married Camilla right away. Diana should have ended up with somebody who gave her the love4 she desired. Being a Royal wife is about duties, love seldom figures at least not int he way she wanted.
@Annais1211Рік тому
@@bluerobin8743 Have you read my comment? What about all the torture I mentioned she suffered from him? Ok, he didn’t love her, but was all that necessary? Or are you like him? And as about the marriage, not only he was a coward who did not faced his mother but he would never gave up on the crown for no one. Not even Camilla. And he also deceived her making her believe he would grow to love her, so don’t try to justify him and put him as a victim cause he’s not a good person at all.
@bluerobin8743Рік тому
@@Annais1211 I dont think I said what he did was right. He was taking his frustrations out on Diana and she was of course innocent trapped in all this. Whags more she even tried to call off the wedding. She knew and all ladies before her Like Anna Wallace had broken their engagement with Charles because it was apparent to everyone around that he loved her. She might have looked like a horse but if he had feelings for her .. There isnt anything anyone could do. Only he should have been brave enohgh to marry her and perhaps would have if he wasnt sent on a navy drill and news of Camilla's engagement falsely spread by royal family lord Mountbatten and her father. It was a conspiracy to draw them apart. Since Camilla was now married he had to find someone because of his Royal duties. And now who would he abdicate his throne for. This doesnt justify dragging Diana or anyone else for that matter into this mess but it so happened. You are not anhone of them so you cannot know anything about their lives and issue certificates. Diana was caught up in a situation she herself knew beforehand. (Her discovering bravelet with Camillas name on it) so it was an open secret what she was getting into. Like her own elder sister Lady Sarah Spencer who dated the prince before her snd called it off ... She should have to. You can call Charles names and personally I wouldn't care to date a person like him ... But you cannot force someone to love you no matyer what and the omly option is to get out of the relationship as soon as you can which Diana did ultimately.

@kathrinlindern2697Рік тому
@@Annais1211 Do you think that Diana loved *him*? Diana went on about a dozen relatively public dates with him - they hardly spent a moment alone, and she decides to marry him as soon as he asks. She did not know enough about him to actually love him - she loved the idea of marrying a prince. And during their courtship, Charles did not seem to bother being actually manipulative - like a true narcissist would be. He was raised from a very early age to believe that he would one day be king - a certain amount of arrogance comes with the territory. If you don't believe in birthright and aristocracy, good for you, I don't either, but Charles does. Everyone who raised him made sure he does. And any insults that happen there in private are dramatic license - we don't know if the real Charles did that, what he said to Diana, whether he was cruel or just did not love her and made that clear. Look, marrying someone for any other reason than love seems absurd, but to Charles, who grew up in the monarchy and who studied history, that seemed "normal". To have a wife for official and political reasons, and to have mistresses for yourself. The fact that Diana could not live with that seems just as normal - she had a terrible childhood and probably yearned for love and stability even more than he did. Ultimately, they were not right for each other. Charles asking for a divorce is then the reasonable, mature thing to do. And a lot of women recover from a divorce. What killed Diana was public attention.

She was still fun and entertaining however. Stewart's performance seemed stiff and forced at first, but once I understood what they were going for I thought she was great. It's not totally flawless, but what she lacks in perfect delivery she says a lot with her face and body language. The jittery facial expressions and movement add a lot to sympathizing with her stress and anxiety as all the pressure is on her. I found myself understanding both the outsiders' perspective (Except Charles, fuck that guy) and Diana's as she struggles living a life with zero privacy and tons of rigid social rules.

Kristen managed to look, accent and mannerisms but Diana's personality in this movie is more like Grace in the movie The others.

I love them both Emma and Stewart just brilliant at playing diana💝

I love kristen performance....she's american but she killed the accent btw beacuse she work hard for it. she deserve all of that....and probably she's gonna receive many awards..🤩🥰🥰LOVE HER

The only difference I personally think is that kristen did a great job portrayed her feelings and motions, emma look like diana

Can't you guys see? Kristin Stewart has the same friggin expression from Twilight!! Look at her face!!! Her emotions are the same. The Crown characters nailed it. The Spencer scene doesn't seem like a fight. They are whispering. Can't even find a trace of anger.

Kristen Stewert did study the Crown’s Portrayal of Diana to help her figure out the best way to play Diana. Id say the crown can’t be compared when the Kristin used the crown as major influence

Charles was too nice in Spencer. Both Emma and Kristen did an amazing job though!

Jack Farthing's portrayal of Charles seems kinda like an imitation of Josh O'Connor in The Crown.

How on earth did none of her family warn Diana not to marry Charles? An older man she barely knew, who her sisters would have known was in love with someone else? Where were her relatives, her friends?
@izzatihamdan1405Рік тому
Umm because anyone would be crazy to reject the proposal from the future king of one of the most powerful country in the world? I bet if you received the same proposal your entire family would be gobsmacked too

Anna93, exactly. I am wondering why her older sister never warned Diana to stay away from Charles?!
@Anna-tj7mpРік тому
@@micheleford4282 I think you are right... Intimacy with the Royal Family meant more to them than the future of their teenage sister. She might have married Charles anyway, but I never heard that her sisters or other relatives warned her about what she was getting into.

Kristen Stewart was an inspired casting and while not as technically good as some of the actors in the crown, I see more of Diana in her than I do Emma.

Emma did amazing but maybe felt a tiny bit more like an act? Kristen seemed to embody Diana more, but both portrayals were framed so differently by the storytelling 🤷🏻 I was really surprised by Kristen

The idea that some tosser completely unrelated to the family can imagine a fiction of private interactions, it can then be plastered all over TV as if it is actually real and them people actually believe it makes me physically sick. Imagine for a second that this was your family....
