I Run a See-through Rotary (Wankel) engine and Film it in Slow Motion so we can see how the combustion process works, aka Wankel Rotary engine.
here you can also see what is inside of a rotary engine (Wankel), while it's running in full view to see just visually witness how a combustion process differs from the piston engine counterpart.
First ever See Through Rotary Engine Series on UKposts or anywhere in the world.
Have you ever wondered how a Wankel engine works differently from a conventional piston engine then you're watching The Right video, because with my see-through angle engine you can see inside the combustion chamber as the engine is running while I film it with high speed cameras to show you how the Wankel combustion process works.
This is the first episode of the see-through rotary engine series and the second season of The see-through engine series.
So make sure to go to the playlist tag and check out the entire series of see-through Engine videos, the second season starts soon.

Yes, it is a shame that so much 'burnt' fuel is wasted. We can no longer accept such pollutants in today's world. But several experimenters have found solutions to this problem so the engine may have a future yet as a classic and compact, lightweight power-plant.
@yamaha94O

Full size rotory engines found in the rx sereis of cars are the same way. They're super prone to forward firing due to incomplete combustion and the unburnt fule igniting in the hot exhaust. Terrible for the environment. But super cool. Lol. I drove a second gen rx7 before. Super fun car. Didn't end up buying in cause the wireing for the lights and everything to make it road legal was shot. Super fun car tho. Braaaaaapp! POP! POP! POP! BRAAAAAAAAPP!

@@jimparr01Utube I have to add that in a way you're right though: that tiny engine does in fact demonstrate a fundamental flaw in wankels, it just does it in a far too exaggerated way. The situation isn't anywhere near that bad, but the same flaws do nevertheless exist. I personally believe that wankels may never become 'fixed' of their flaws, but we have naturally not seen all potential improvements so it's impossible to know. Sort of how 2-strokes were possible to turn into clean-burning things with slight changes (mainly direct injection and removing the oil from the fuel).

Yes, when I was editing this episode I was looking for some good pictures or videos of that tank, I had seen that a while back on a project that I was working on for the History Channel, I can't remember what the documentary was about but I even contacted the network to see if I can get some of that footage, they didn't get back to me in time to include it. I thought that was insane that they wanted to use a rotary for a mass-produced tank. Thanks, it was a pain in the a** but I knew somebody had to do it. Originally scheduled to be a 2-day shoot it ended up being a 16 day shoot. Thanks I'm glad you liked it, episode 2 is going to be nuts, all of this is building up to episode 3.

As an student of mechanical engineering, I'm very delighted by your great video and being able to see this quality of detail! And see so close a rotor engine after learning about the use Mazda gave to it on their 787B

Decades ago, my eccentric ME student boyfriend told me about this strange contraption, the Wankel (or vhan-kuhl, as he said it). The affair ended but decades later, I happened upon your video. VERY, VERY COOL😏 Thank-you!!

Such an awesome and understandable video… I didn’t know much about rotary engines always kind of like them, but that’s put Things into perspective very well for me and gave me a much greater understanding and passion to learn more about this rotary style engine it’s freaking cool.

Once the apex of the rotor passes the exhaust port, the high-pressure combustion gases are free to flow out the exhaust. As the rotor continues to move, the chamber starts to contract, forcing the remaining exhaust out of the port. By the time the volume of the chamber is nearing its minimum, the peak of the rotor passes the intake port and the whole cycle starts again. The neat thing about the rotary engine is that each of the three faces of the rotor is always working on one part of the cycle. In one complete revolution of the rotor, there will be three combustion strokes.

Citroen and Van Veen also experimented with Wankel, but only NSU and Mazda had Wankel commercialized. A nice thought to rotate instead of the existing up/down engines, but some bad hooks: bad compression control, bad fuel consumption and bad CO2 creation.

@@xkexke8081 as Ernie Brink said, by changing sparkplug hole geometry by a very thin flat hole (height of the hole will have the same thickness as apex seal) , but too narrow hole could diminish the effectiveness of the spark,I think we can go bigger in the height of the hole without really having consequant gas exchange between compression chamber and exhaust chamber. Other ideas from Ernie Brink are very interesting and pertinant and there are still more possibility to improve the rotary engine

That's actually not correct. Yes 3 voids are all active, but there is a mechanical reduction by the interior gear size. Wiki wankle and open design tab for an illustration
