Hi! This is a brief comparison of Merriage in The Sims, I kept waiting for Sims 4 to come up with a marriage expansion buuut I guess they won't..I hope they will though but let's see, I chose the most basic aspects for this evolution; proposal, private event, wedding parties and tiny stuff in between. I was gonna include cheating and divorce but my Sims 3 game isn't saving and the video was getting long so I think I may explore woohoo and then end this chapter with cheating and divorce, just a heads up.
So, marriage, probably one of the most important aspects of the game and man, I can see how the game has evolved over 20 years, it's crazy to think same sex marriage wasn't allowed back then and now we've got females impregnating males huh? Anyways, what are your thoughts on marriage? Which one is your favorite?
My opinion?
Sims 1 is veeeery basic but it's 20 years old so it feels just wrong to complain about how simple it was...so I won't lol
Sims 2 was a HUGE jump, so many things introduced here, plus some unique like the overdramatic cutscenes and a proper honeymoon on top of many little details like the cake and the champagne.
Sims 3's base game wedding content was alright but generations just sent it on another level, I loved all the unique aspects it introduced, the bachelor parties, asking for a sim's hand, it's just great when those detail oriented expansions come around.
Sims 4 is underwhelming because it took too much and added very little, my guests just didn't react (seriously, not even with mods out so either they just don't or I caught a bad bug) if it was the only game after Sims 1 it would've been alright but it's not, I don't dislike it but weddings don't feel special to me, the one thing I could say is their party system is better in terms of giving you pointers of how to have a good time, I like the special fireworks aaaand eating the cake together is sweet. But that's about it.
So, for me, Sims 2 wins followed very closely by Sims 3 and then 4 and 1.
I just love dramatic cutscenes mmkay? lol
