Rick, best lesson I've seen on this topic and one which most weekend duffers have no clue about. One other thing I was taught about downhill lies is that you should take some practice swings to see where they bottom out. My first couple are always too far behind the ball even if I think I'm set up properly. Would explain some comments here about people chunking shots. Keep up the good work.

I really love Rick's videos, they are simple, not overly complex like other instructional videos. Golf is a mental game and you take yourself out of the game when you approach the ball and try to think about the 10-20 steps and then shank a slot because you're not swinging freely. Get to the basics and make the tweaks after you become better golfer and watch the 10-20 step videos. I recently got back into golf and got the golf bug. Thanks Rick for your useful instructional videos!

Rick, you're down to earth and comfortable in your own skin. I like the fact that you are not superhuman; you're not the one-armed robot that engineers built to test clubs and golf balls. It always hits the ball straight; you don't. This was a good, informative show for uphill, downhill, etc lies; it wasn't about those compound lies where a golfer sees downhill - sidehill lies. However, I learned a lot and I enjoyed learning from someone who hits balls like "The Golf-a-holics," buit doesn't talk like he hits 'em like Ben Hogan. You have 1.28M subscribers because we can relate to you. You're one of us & you never talk down to us. That's big. Also, you are almost as good at hitting the stray & woodsy shots as Arnold Palmer. I think that's because you're a creative not a determined plodder like "Sweet Swing" Peter Finch. Finch will hit two straight balls with perfect form and wind up ten yards shy of the green. From there, he's lucky to two putt. You, on the other hand, will hit some "Wild Kingdom", off into the jungle shot off the tee, and then, you'll curve a ball off a branch leaving yourself with a birdie putt. While I admire & envy Peter's swing, I like that you can recover from your screw-ups. To me, that's more the sign of a master teacher than a guy who doesn't have the brains to aim at the flag instead of the edge of the green. Cheers.

Great lesson on battling the not perfect lies. It also calls you out to understand your typical carry distances on the "base" iron and go up/down in clubs depending on up/down hill. Likewise when on those ball above your feet/below your feet moments how to properly address the same. Funny thing is I have a small ditch that is regularly mowed behind the home that allows me to work on these shots. It becomes instinctive on where to aim, where to stand when you can regularly practice said lies.

Watched your video yesterday and played at a very undulating course this morning. Chipped in for birdie on a par 3 from a 20ish yard uphill lie! Cheers Rick

Hi Rick, I’ve just discovered your UKposts vid and I’m 💚💚💚💚ing your instruction and tips! 🤩😎. I always mess up my shots on what I consider a bad lie when in fact after looking at your vid it’s not a bad lie but is just a lie. I realise I’ve never set up correctly to the slope. I’ve always set up as if I’m on a flat lie and this has given me my perception of having bad shots = due to a bad lie 😟🤪🤪🤪🙈. Your instruction is so simple and makes SO much sense, I needed to hear it. 🙏🏼 for sharing. 🤗. It’s raining today but I’m going to go out and put what you just told me to practise. 😊. Looking forward to seeing all your other vids! 🤩🤩🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼😃

I am memorizing this video! Easy to follow. Easy to remember. Easy... well easier hopefully... out on the undulating golfcourse! Thank you for this Rick. First time here with you "by accident". I'll be back!

Most mid and high handicappers (me) being part of that struggle with this. This is a very simple and well explained drill for different lies, again Rick thanks for helping out.
