At the end of every soldering video, be sure to send folks over to your flux cleaning video.

when i’m done soldering, i just use my alcohol and wipe it clean. I recommend getting a no clean flux pen, works great

For spicy solder joints use flux! Most solder has flux inside but results differ
@infected7258
@infected7258 10 місяців тому
But it’s better to still use some, the Flux that comes in some solder won’t last you enough to get a good connection, especially if you’re just starting to get into soldering

What do you mean by spicy? What does this do?

@cam5816 I just mean nice, sleek and you get that nice adhesion effect with no blobs or beads you know?

Pimoroni sells snap pins that don’t require soldering. They are almost life changing, especially if teaching large groups of kids. Best to avoid soldering irons and now we can.

Personally I prefer soldering header up, that way I have more room on my breadboard

Breadboards are not soldering fixtures and you can ruin them that way.

True. I believe he was brutal. I would’ve soldered only the corner pins and take the board off.

if you're that clumsy you shouldn't even be soldering 😂. what is he going to do? fuse the bread board to his chip?

@@emmaeilefsen7214especially the one they are seemingly using the semi transparent color yet fully opaque is usually a sign on being cheaper

The solution is to get a black marker and write "soldering fixture" on the back. Now you have a soldering fixture.

Depends on your project, there are a lot of instances where you do not want those bulky pins.

I solder wires to some of those Pico joints too. A breadboard wire chaos can reach insane heights. SD Card, touch, display THEN a keyboard and I'm not joking. Usually it's because a hat closes for more. Some more inventions would be nice. A breakout is easier, but also bigger.

If you have no soldering stuff, buy a Pico H… header pins are premounded for 1$/€

Already in the breadboard, and slightly off kilter, as is tradition.

Tiny electronics suitable for attaching to motherboards/breadboards. As opposed to making them a manageable size in the first place.

Do you have to have pins on it for it to work or? I'm new to this
@BryanTorok

If you are building a specific project or embedding the controller as part of a larger circuit, you can solder wires or components directly to the pads. But, if you are experimenting or designing something new, the pins on a breadboard can be very convenient. It also allows you to take it apart and reuse the parts on another project.

Is it mandatory to do solder it, can we do it without soldering it on the breadboard?
@opinion_panda
@opinion_panda 6 місяців тому
Yes. I typically solder one corner, then while the solder is still molten (tip applied) I adjust the header and solder the opposite corner of the same header. Easy peasy.

Anything is possible if you put your mind to it but, it is HIGHLY recommended you soldier it, it’s also just a good skill to have 👍

A pin simply sitting in a hole in a board without being soldered and without anything to force the pin against the side of the hole will not make anything resembling a reliable connection.

if you doing this kind of work then use hot air gun and solder paste, save so much time

I was taught you should never put square header pins into breadboard as it damages them. You're ideally supposed to use the machine pin circular ones.

Make sure your breadboard doesn't melt from your soldering iron's heat. I still have an Arduino welded permanently to a cheap breadboard because of this.

I would be very nervous about causing heat damage to the chip. I'd prefer to buy it already soldered to avoid that risk. But i sould like female headers pointing up so i can stick wires straight in without having to use a breadboard.
