@@jimbobby629 for me? Yes honestly. I notice a HUGE difference between 4k and 2k content even on a small profile display. The difference to me is stark. On a laptop or 16" display even more so, but for me it is absolutely worth it and I feel I can absolutely indefatigably see a difference.

That's the same reasoning that I use for keeping an s20 5g as a walking companion (sd card and specs in general that speak for themselves) and I also have an lg g8, an HTC u11, and a razer phone 2 that have all found daily usefulness in my world. The Sony, an S24 plus, and the iPhone 15 pro Max keep me current but the older devices never cease to lose their charm.

I use on daily basis an Xperia 1 II since 3rd of July 2020, and it still works flawless, faster than an iPhone 15 in most tasks... Hopefully they will go with the crowd and offer updates for at least 4-5 years. I never had to reset the phone, and I have 200 + apps :)... I really like the 21:9 aspect ratio . If they put the same cameras in the mark VI as in mark V, I will definitely buy the mark V.

I still can remember when the rumors about the 21:9 xperia appeared 5years ago, I was kinda disappointed. I also remember some memes comparing it to a tv remote lol. I don’t see the advantage of it (at least for me) since I don’t typically watch movies on my phone but rather find myself on youtube most of the times. Glad they’re finally coming back. I hope they bring back the led notification lights too ❤️

I still have 1 III and I love 21:9 ratio, it is much more comfortable to hold in hand. I have a Samsung as a work phone and for my hand it's too wide and I find it too uncomfortable and bulky to hold and use it with one hand. I have led light for my 1 III. Do they removed it for newer models?

I made a comment on another one of your videos, the Sony current design is also its success, why would anyone buy the same thing in a different skin that’s more expensive than the others? It’s a leader in the industry and many make some sacrifices to get an Xperia phone just for its being unique, the 4K display IS its marketing "botte secrète" even if it’s not used. Any Xperia owner can configure his phone according to his taste and setting a default profile for his personal device. I hope then that the 1 V remains in production alongside with whatever newcomer is going to come. Thank you for sharing the Xperia news.

Tbh, I have no problem living without 4K since very few apps can natively support such resolution. The loss of 21:9 screen is a huge bummer since it's a blast for app splitting.

I'm a huge fan of Sony products. In fact, I have a house full of them. Still, I've never invested in one of their phones. The main reason is due to their cost. I've always felt that there's better phones available for far less money; sticker shock.

Headphones jack good for that quick plug in wired headphones on the go somewhere for gaming. SD card slot essential for game storage data and HD music storage for DAP mode I.e. avoid streaming for higher res listening. And of course pics and video storage and transfer.

@@dr.fitprofessor4363 "just buy a dongle" isn't a practical solution and you'd get this if you had experience with one. You're carrying around yet another cable device that you could lose or damage, it's a new piece in a manufactured puzzle most people don't want to deal with, including me and at least one of my friends who has to deal with that. It takes up more space than just a regular cable too and uses up your charging port, which can become annoying very quickly if you have to flip your phone around often. I just never found the dongle solution to be a solution or an argument, let alone a good one, at that point just buy the damn wireless buds (since you have to go and buy something for this to work anyway), this solution sucks more than just admitting you should've found a phone with the jack lol. Anyway in my case I'd want a headphone jack. Wired earphones are much less likely to be lost, they don't require charging, it's literally just plug and play and it's not 3 items in your pocket, one of them a battery, which are small to the point of me being anxious of accidentally dropping something despite my track record of never losing anything. A big part of a wired device is that it's 1 item. Seems like we're finding new ways to sabotage ourselves with newer devices getting increasingly easier to somehow destroy or lose lol.

2 things could convince me to upgrade from my 1 v. If all the cameras have that new 48mp sensor. And if they put in a quad dac on the headphone jack. Id upgrade for either of those. The screen I honestly don't care if it's 4k or not. I also don't mind if it's a bit wider.

The aspect ratio shouldn't be too much of an issue for most Sony fans. Also, the leaks about the front camera being pinhole cameras seems to be incorrect based on the image by onleaks.

Pinhole cameras aren't coming any time soon. Same thing was being said about the 1 V and even 1 IV, that rumor is consistently wrong.

If they really remove this 4K 21:9 screen, it will be the biggest mistake from Xperia ever. It d mean : RIP Multi-tasks screen, Creator Mode, Watching films, Cinematography App etc. I don't understand Sony.

I still have 1 III and I love 21:9 ratio, it is much more comfortable to hold in hand. I have a Samsung as a work phone and for my hand it's too wide and I find it too uncomfortable and bulky to hold and use it with one hand.

*_If Sony changes the standard features of its device, this Xperia 1 V will be the last model of the brand that I would have. Sony creates the best things and then abandoning them is the height of absurdity. I don't believe that removing the most acclaimed _**_21:09_**_ 4K display which is something unique makes being able to reproduce even all types of cinema media following the highest and best characteristics that makes a difference between all other manufacturers. I believe that if it improved its cameras, batteries and implemented technologies from other manufacturers such as improvements in Automatic Modes, it would already be a historic milestone. Xperia 1 iii owner here. Loved the phone, but found there's not enough support from third party accessory producers. It sounds like a minor gripe, and I suppose it is, but it does limit it, at least for me.

I wish there was a mini led display version while still retaining the 21:9 aspect ratio and 4k on the sony xperia phones that use 4k on there flagship phones. I already have burn in issues with all the oled displays that I use and the display brightness has already been affected as well. I really hope the sony phones screen brightness increased to 2,000 nits since 1,000 nits is still not bright enough and even increase the battery capacity to 6,500 mah or 7,000 mah capacity. For example, the older asus rog gaming phones have 2 separate batteries with each battery being 3,000 mah for the full 6,000 mah capacity on a single device.

The aspect ratio was never an issue. A lot of improvements are needed in other departments. Looks like they want to cater to… to… wider… audience. But, I am moving on from Sony, if I want a wider phone, there are other phones that are wider and do things a lot better than Sony.

They should implement the 2k screen, put a proper dac in for the headphone jack, add a decent torch, improve the speakers and mics and add 3 x 52mp xmoor t cameras in the back and bring the notification led back as a stand out character increase the support to match the quality hardware. And it would be a well sorted phone.

I love the form factor of the 1V but I can see the reason for the change. Wouldnt be a bad thing for these phones to become slightly more mainatream, might be easier to extend that software support out to 4years. Maybe if BlackBerry had gone a little more mainstream we'd all be watching UKposts on those still. (BlackBerry 10 OS was unbelievable and i still miss the Hub)

Great Video - Sony are definitely trying to get into the mainstream market but they'll either lose alot of customers who want a bespoke device that stands out from the crowd or gain alot of customers that can get on board with it. I suppose they're out to make money but personally I like having a phone that isn't a bleeding iPhone or Samsung.

I had the Xperia one Mark two it was such a great phone and then I switched to an iPhone 13 Pro Max which also I love it’s not my first iPhone, but the thing that I like about the Sony that it was very stock android very clean, but there wasn’t too much accessories and cases to my liking. It would be great ifthey had support from case manufacturers and maybe they got a shot of being a good substitute to Samsung phones

Xperia 1V could have been an amazing phone if they hadn't messed up the display. The Xperia 5iv was amazing in terms of display calibration and camera colour fidelity, but they've messed up with the heating. If they had retained the display and camera calibrations of the 5iv, with just a better cpu, it would have been the best phone on the market. Sadly, too much rainbow banding.

I've always found the content on the Sony phones interesting... definitely too narrow for my liking, but I think it was all Sony phones in the latest Ghostbusters film... they kept featuring them, and the tech-nerd in me couldn't let it go... that camera array is similar to Samsung but still so different. I think it would be cool if Sony offered a free camera class with these phones, there seems to be such a drive for high-end pro photography with these phones and for those of us that would love to know how to operate these features... a class included would be awesome!

No 4k 21:9 would be such a disappointment 😢 It would mean i will not get a 1 serie device especially with a 2k resolution🤦🏽 The 5 and 10 series would be my only option from Sony unless they'll make a foldable that doesn't break as easily like the Samsung fold devices or a pro i ii? The 4k screens work like this: When not watching 4k content the device will still light up all the pixels but it would be rendering in 1080p which makes it easier for cpu and gpu (less power needed so it doesn't heat up as fast) If an app can render 4k it will render it like 4k

I'll probably adapt to the fact we'll lose these two aspects: the resolution and aspect ratio, things which are Sony trademarks at this point... However, as you say, there are (theoretical) advantages and some disadvantages for this new approach on the phone's new ergonomics. The resolution is simple: few were appreciating the extra sharpness from those screens, and many won't see a difference. It's a bragging right, but one that is probably limiting their screen brightness as I feel that no screen manufacturer would evolve this recipe from Sony because of their lack of presence in the market. So, basically, we had this coming. I'll miss it because I have it, but for Sony, it will be for the best financially I feel like. But the aspect ratio... That (!) I'm a bit disappointed... As I've always had the standard flagship from Sony since the Z2. And I basically have had the same width phone all these years and (now) don't quite like the ergonomics of a wider phone, though... But, ow well... I've had a XZ3 before, and got used it's width, I'll probably relearn to have it again

Sony should keep the 21:9 ratio, change the curve corners to square corners like the Samsung Notes, and keep the sharp edges.

lo de la pantalla me parece bien ya que el 4k no se aprovecha para nada en un telefono, incluso la pantalla de un galaxy se aprecia mejor y eso que la resolución es menor, y al ser de menor resolución y con una taza de 1 - 120 la bateria debe durar mucho mas que la de el 1V, en lo personal me gustaba el aspecto 21:9, y me emociona ver que puede hacer el nuevo EXMOR T y ojala reparen el telefono porque en el 1V es terrible

I love what Sony has done since merging with their Alpha department as far as camera UI and functionality. What I’m disappointed in is their hardware choices. Still no successor to the Pro-I and they never go all out with their own best sensors meanwhile Xiaomi is out here giving variable aperture with a camera grip. Sony is playing it too safe.

No.. My mother is that age and smartphone is a pain in the ass for her.. Its very hard for them to handle it, touch and everything else

Good better display factor, now they only need to put in a 1 inch sensor and beat the competition, The 1 inch sensor should be equal stable in video as Apple videos. and have zoom capabilitys closer to Samsung S24 Ultra. But i think Sony will disapoint as usually, because they alway like to handicap their stuff and make them less good than what they can.

Looks almost like the 1V The resolution would not be so important to me..... Larger sensors for the telephoto would be great.... Otherwise Sony can't really improve anything, I love the 1V

If they make a compact form. I may get it. Im tired of these bulky phones. I currently have a xperia 1 (first one) and i still want a smaller phone. Xperia 5 v isn't compatible with Verizon so no.

Every phone should be made wider and lighter moving forward. Content is better to look at with more width.

Phones are wide enough. If you want to watch on a bigger screen then get a tablet

Not dramatically wider, just a few more mm. They did it with the S24 ultra over the S23 ultra. Slightly shorter and slightly wider. Does feel nicer in the hand.

Typing is easier in portrait mode with a wider phone. In landscape mode for games 1 iii I currently use in e.g. DI I get black bars on left and right. So 6.5" screen is not utilised making the game smaller than it should be. Preferred the width of their Z5 Premium 4k lcd screen from end of 2015.
