We have Starlink and purchased two mesh routers which helped greatly in the house. We also bought the Ethernet adapter to plug into our son’s computer for a direct connection. These two things made a huge difference for us and we are in a remote location.

Internet is such a common utility; it does make you realise when you watch this how much you can take things for granted. I was without internet for two weeks last year (I'm in the UK) and I had to use it at work and at a friend's house at weekends, it felt like a complete nightmare 😂 Hope Starlink works out well for you guys and looking forward to finding out lil miss's name, she's adorable 🌸 Stay warm happy peoples 💜

I just did a speedtest on one that I installed for a customer here in NH, it's their backup incase their main internet goes down since their phones are VoIP. The speed test was 215 down, 37 up. It's amazing! Don't know how the satellite clusters are in your skies, Get it to the highest point you can above the tree line, less interference from trees, especially to the northern sky, better you'll do, the roof is much better! You can get an extension cable if you need it, The dish itself has a heater in it to keep snow off of it, but it won't heat the gears and stuff, which I think is where the issue would be. You could add a coopala to you house and put a heater in it.

I am in Stevensville, MT and starlink is a game changer! Just ran a speed test! 11/18/2022 9:35pm… 176 Down, 11.7 Up, 59 Ping!!! Excited to see how the weather affects it! -11 her this morning and was working great! Have it “mounted” on roof of house! 😊

Keep in mind that sometimes the snow will interfere with Starlink. Sometimes the snow has to be brushed off. Great video! The editing is great! Thank you for sharing! Many blessings and prayers!

Ot has an auto heat function that works to clear the snow from the surface. you do get icicles on the edge, it's been -40 already in Fairbanks and the dish had been fine. The issue is there's not enough LEO's to provide full service, but they just launched 52 more sats yesterday. Fingers crossed 🤞

the shot of baby sister sleeping with the fireplace going on in the background is soo stinking cute. the photography shoot looks like you all had fun. Bert and Garrett being men and not needing instructions, and I once worked at princess hotel here in Fairbanksi and the Porsche company sent up about 6-8 new models up to Fairbanks in January for cold weather testing and the drivers and corporate guys were staying at the Hotel, and the staff kept going on breaks to go out in -45 to -50 below temps just to look at the Porsche cars they would never afford.

We Have Starlink since last year - we live rural in Southern Alberta Canada - Starlink has been a game changer for our house! I have high speeds enough to allow me to get an online job for Thrive Life that is based down in Utah - supports the VPN and awesome! I have the circle dish version, and has the heater when needed for the snow we get. We got down to -35C last winter, and Starlink worked throughout that deepfreeze for us! Ours is on our roof, so it has better, unlimited view to the sky without our house blocking any area ... they do a pole you can put up out in the yard as well ... and they have a kit to protect going through the roof!

Loved your Vlog this morning! Have not lived rurally since 1971-1979 and like you we had to find out what system worked well for us and our girls! Ww also used a CB Antennae Tower so we could communicate ie in the outside world! Your new daughter is surrounded by her siblings love and this being recorded by loving Christian parents will be something she can always look back to with warmth and caring! You might think about mount next to your fireplace chimney. Live in Hollister California. Download speed slows down between 5 and 10 PM. During the day download is >than 100 megs. At 8:30 tonight it was 30 down and 7 up.

We received Starlink a couple months ago and it works great! We live in rural Kansas and didn’t have any options except for the hotspots on our phones and that was hit and miss. Our speed with Starlink is consistently between 50-100+ download and 5-10 upload. Absolutely love it!

We live 30 minutes from the nearest town and no neighbors so no internet service was available and our cell service was spotty. We bought Starlink 4 months ago and have been pleased. We have it mounted on the corner of our porch roof. It seems to always stay facing north and up. Windy days or super cloudy days it will go in and out but no more than 10 seconds. So far we have loved it. We don’t have anything but streaming out here. Our house is the only obstruction we have(no trees, no buildings, nothing basically). We don’t get super cold but can get below zero once a year but our cold days are normally in teens or single digits. Praying it works out for you!

Starlink works best further away from any trees. Rooftop is ideal. Also Tesla does a lot of cold weather testing in Alaska and is a very popular vehicle in Norway.

debating on picking up a Starlink early before I move up next year. There's still a number of launches needed before enough satellites are in orbit to give good service up there. It's still suuper early availability for Alaska. And yeah get that satellite dish up as high as you can. Obstructions such as house, trees, etc affect it a lot.

Starlink works for our homestead 50 miles north of Fairbanks off the Elliott Highway. Its amazing to have it since we don't even have cell service here.

Starlink was a game changer for me in northern NY state. Went from 1 mbps with Verizon dsl to 100 at most times, upload around 12 with starlink. We also deal with -20 in winter. The modem heats the satellite

I will say ours goes out every 2 or so minutes, we also live in a rural area where there isn't wired internet (we are on the east coast). Our problem is trees also, haven't mounted ours higher (they sell pole and roof mounts) as we traveled with it this summer. We enjoy it when it is having a good day ;) but it sure is nice to have higher speed internet. So glad you got one to try out and see if it could work

I have Starlink in northern Mass. 70 down 15 up. I was an early adopter (March 2021) and I have the 1st generation hardware. I have seen speeds of 200 × 50. Not sure if there is just less bandwidth now that more people use it. I also mounted on the top of the house and it makes a big difference.

Yes. EVs have been tested down here at Fort Greely through Cold Regions Test Center. I think it's a bit mixed on the results.

Nice shoot for the Alaska Apparel. Garrett: all I want for Christmas is my two front teeth 🤪. Baby girl is getting big ( you forget how fast the grow) and so adorable. Hopefully, Starlink will work better on the roof. I know some other UKpostsrs who live in remote areas have Starlink and have good internet. Blessings to you all. 😊🇺🇲

Your baby and all you older kids are looking great........You are doing an awesome job as parents.......Just make sure you keep the house warm and look for cheaper options because energy prices are sky-rocketting across the world........If the boiler ( or whatever you have doesn't work too well) then consider some nights everyone sleeping on mattresses in front of the fireplace in the main living room......and make sure your dogs is mainly inside in the harsh, approaching Winter.

We’re south in sitka, had starlink a month. LOVE IT. Speeds still getting faster. Seen close to 400 down at times also if you mount on the roof would (some) heat rise to help? That’s where I putours

I lived in northern Michigan for 25yrs. We didn’t have Starlight, but we had a satellite dish, for tv. The only place we had issues was when it snowed a lot. Certain kinds of snow would stick to the dish. We’d climb a ladder with a broom to sweep the snow from it. Then all was well. Keep an eye on ice build up.

We recently received our Starlink equipment, it is performing better than what we had previously. I am certain you discovered this, but it does have a built in heater/snowmelt setting in the app that allows it to melt ice and snow.

My hubby suggests that you put it in a spot that keeps it warmer. Do you have some type of sub-roof space that you could use. It will drop out all the time unexpectedly otherwise. Also, if you get a few nests around your house (indoor lol) this will def extend the range.

We have it for our RV and it is hit or miss on both connection and speed. Better than nothing I guess.

Before starlink we had speeds similar to your before, now we have what I would consider "normal". We can stream and we can upload, though I've heard of super speeds in the city and it is not that. We live in a remote area in Canada, and also live in an area that gets similar temperatures to you and the cold has not affected it. We are coming up to close to 2 years of having it and it has been really good.

You mentioned col dd wether auto testing, the same thing haoned here, or near her, in Death Valley. Auto compinies flocked here to test automobles in the hot weather. Plenty of elevation gaing that would overhead a car, pronto. I even expirnced some of the same, when I was west bound out of stovepipe, with the AC going and didn't realize I was climbing a grade. My car overheated and I had a horse trailer on the back. What saved me was I had an old milk dary can in the back filled with water.

We have had starlink for more than a year and we are in northern Wisconsin (the tippy top) and we get very cold as well. We didn’t have any issues!

Curious if you guys have heard about this project in the Alaskan interior? Nenana foresters project: turning borel forest into farm land. Selling off to the highest bidder , whatever country that turns out to be. Thank you for any input on this subject. We are in deep East Texas and got our Starlink about four months ago. It works great. I have not checked speed but it streams on our TV, Me on my computer and my husband on his computer plus both of our phones work with it. It is on our roof and we do not even have it anchored to our roof. Ours does drop for seconds at times but it is no big deal. Comes right back.

Starlink. Dayton, OH. Mounted to roof with no obstructions. Newer neighborhood with no mature trees. 343 down and 28.9 up. It works. We don’t have interference from rain. Not sure about snow as we have only had a dusting yet this year.

I think it should work, but I have no idea how bad of a blizzard or serious snowstorm it can get in North Pole with Starlink, but just make sure to keep the satellite dish free of snow the best you can. Storms can disrupt the signal badly.

We have starlink in Northern California rural country, we average 130 up and 10 down. It has been a game changer since we got it! Definitely worth it for us.
