Did you even watch the video? No woman would want to be a limelight on being a victim of rape. To be publicly declare oneself as a victim of rape, the police has to investigate the victim. The victim has to describe in detail what had happened to her multiple times with details. It can be traumatising to the victim.

Why is there an impression that the police would mock future rape victims because of this MP?

I’m really disturbed that she self-inserted herself into the narration. That itself posed more risk of her having to reveal she was part of the support group and a victim, because no one just accompanies a rape victim to the police out of the blue. Recounting the incident as 3rd party would’ve been less risky, because then you can just say you heard it from anywhere. Though still unsubstantiated, it could’ve at least saved her one lie. This all feels very narcissistic and manipulative.

It is already difficult for a victim to voice out when such things happen. SPF is a public body. Thus it cannot sue.

Parliamentary Privilege means anything said in Parliament is protected from any legal action. However, within Parliament itself, action can be taken, as in this case a complaint was brought to the Committee of Privileges which will decide on suitable penalty, if any. Anyone, including a MP, who says the same thing outside of Parliament, are subject to legal action by the aggrieved party. There is no immunity for anything said outside of Parliament.

Yea right, she wanted to make it all about her and cast aspersion on the SPF. As if not forgetting that she already did it to our courts previously but back then the 'wise Leader of the Opposition' said he had 'no regrets' fielding her despite her already giving false allegations. So did WP MP Yaw Shin Leong, what's your point? Don't think either side has had instances whereby their MP told a straight up lie in parliament. Now she's being referred for disciplinary action. Didn't see party leadership asking for resignations when Vivian told a lie , oh i'm sorry "misspoke" about tracetogether data and took 6 months to clarify when a simple, 5 minutes facebook post would have done the trick. Didn't hear any reprimanding or warning or anything of that nature when he insulted another MP's school Didn't see party leadership asking for resignations when there were so many data breaches with MOH, and countless other scandals that happened across the years. Apple for apple, affair for affair, both parties resigned. So I really don't see how this can be twisted into "WP corruption"

In a way, she also lied to her party. Pritam Singh the leader, Sylvia Lim a lawyer, would be aghast, if she had told them the truth. They would not have supported her if she had told them the story was from an anecdote and that she was not with the alleged victim. The WP is in shock now, and in a quandary as to what to do next.
