I worked at a subway for a year. The owner of the shop was an amazing person. Gave small deals here and there that the company wouldn’t necessarily offer (think extra stuff on certain sandwiches he thought were bad deals). He also made sure every single employee had a job before we closed(I’ll get to that). I remember when the inspector would come down she’d proudly claim that we were the best subway in socal and she loved checking in on us. During the $5 footling I asked the owner “how do you afford to sell sandwiches at that price?” To which he responded “I’m wondering the same thing.” Poor dude had to close the whole shop a few months later and could barely afford to do so. I still have the order here sign as a memory of my first job

The tuna thing was hilarious. The whole thing was that a DNA test was done on the tuna and didn't have tuna DNA. Nevermind the fact that it was pre-cooked tuna and the heat destroys the DNA. Once that point was made, the ones filing the lawsuit switched their argument to that the tuna wasn't sustainably sourced as claimed. At that point, it just proved they filed in hopes that Subway would settle and they could make a quick buck.

My first day on the job, the coworker training me stole money from the register during close that night and tried to blame me the next day I came to work. He got fired shortly after, and I didn't realize I'd pick up all of his 12-hour shifts where my manager would " go to the bank" during lunch shifts and dinner shifts. They did a good job exploiting young workers who had never had a job before. However, it's all intertwined. To many world wide this is a livelihood. To just say I'm not going to eat there anymore is not really the answer. there are people stuck in the middle who are hurting and I imagine it isn't limited to Subway. It's a big problem that DOES stem from the Capitalistic idea of owning your own business, being your own boss, and that kind of mythological independence we're taught is so easy to attain.

Watch this show and will never want a Subway franchise. Funny but very informative. Very much a scam for franchisee. The only one where I live, recently closed down. It was in the smaller part of a two part commercial property, in a great location, but I don't know why have not been able to rent it all now. The bigger one has been empty for over a decade ago. It used to be a drugstore. I don't remember which one. it's a mystery property right smack in the middle of the town, also on the main strip road and highway. Meanwhile just about everything else commercial property is gone, sold, rented, and being built on. I think that the problem must be the lack of parking space. They're going to have to tear it down, and build something else much smaller, that leaves more parking lot.

This is on top of a McD's, a Wendy's a Taco Bell (no KFC menu there, dang it!), A Dominos, two Chinese restaurants, a Chinese/Japanese restaurant, an overpriced fine dining place, a seafood place, 3 single-owner pizza/sub shops, the deli counter at the Hannaford's grocery store, and around a half-dozen prepared food counters at the Market Basket mega-grocery store. GOD IS JUST SO HE MUST PUNISH SIN & HE IS HOLY SO NO SIN CAN ENTER HIS KINGDOM OF HEAVEN. IF YOU ARE IN CHRIST ON JUDGEMENT DAY GOD WILL SEE YOU AS HIS PERFECT SON (SINLESS SINCE YOUR SINS ARE COVERED BY JESUS' OFFERING). YOU CAN ALSO CHOOSE TO REJECT JESUS' GIFT/SACRIFICE & PAY FOR YOUR OWN SIN WITH DEATH (HELL) BUT THAT SEEMS PRETTY FOOLISH! GOD SEES & HEARS EVERYTHING YOU HAVE SAID & DONE. YOU WONT WIN AN ARGUMENT WITH HIM & YOU CANT DEFEND ANY OF YOUR SINS TO HIM. YOU'RE NOT A GOOD PERSON, I'M NOT A GOOD PERSON... ONLY GOD IS GOOD! WE'RE ALL GUILTY WITHOUT ACCEPTING JESUS' SACRIFICE FOR OUR SINS! MUHAMMAD DIDN'T DIE FOR YOUR SINS, BUDDHA DIDN'T DIE FOR YOUR SINS, NO PASTOR/NO PRIEST/NO SAINT/NO ANCESTOR DIED FOR YOUR SINS, MARY DIDN'T, THE POPE DIDN'T EITHER, NO IDOLS OR FALSE gods DIED FOR YOUR SINS, NO MUSICIAN OR CELEBRITY DIED FOR YOUR SINS, NO INFLUENCER OR UKposts STAR DIED FOR YOUR SINS, NO SCIENTIST OR POLITICIAN DIED FOR YOUR SINS, NO ATHLETE OR ACTOR DIED FOR YOUR SINS! STOP IDOLIZING & WORSHIPING THESE PEOPLE! JESUS CHRIST ALONE DIED FOR YOUR SINS & WAS RESURRECTED FROM THE GRAVE! HE IS ALIVE & COMING BACK VERY VERY SOON WITH JUDGEMENT (THESE ARE END TIMES)! PREPARE YOURSELVES, TURN FROM SIN & RUN TO JESUS! HE KNOWS YOUR PAIN & TROUBLES, HE WANTS TO HEAL & RESTORE YOU! TALK TO HIM LIKE A BEST FRIEND! ASK HIM TO REVEAL HIMSELF TO YOU & HELP YOU TO BELIEVE IF YOU DOUBT! DON'T WAIT TO CRY OUT! NO ONE IS PROMISED TOMORROW! HE LONGS FOR YOU TO INVITE HIM IN, HE LOVES YOU MORE THAN ANY PERSON EVER COULD, HE CREATED YOU! Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."-John 14:6 "But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven."-Matthew 10:33 “For the wages of sin is death (hell), but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord”-Romans 6:23

If you think Subway is a crazy, look into Jimmy John’s. My first job was at the store in Milwaukee near UWM. One of the written rules upon being hired was “Don’t let the owner inside after 10pm”, because he would come in coked up and drunk and fire the whole staff.

There's a Simpsons episode where Marge opens a sandwish franchise and is screwed over by the company because she has to buy supplies from it and be competition to another franchise that is open just opposite hers. I knew there had to be a real-life inspiration for this.

Yeah, it is known for years now that opening a franchise is a bad idea. Although it es less f* up here in Germany: it is still f* up. And it is not just limited to fast food companies. There is a really bad example of a German optics company.

All food franchises work like that, you're very limited who you can buy equipment with, normally it will be hugely overpriced because you have no other choice as it's the only approved dealer after they struck a deal with the mother company.

They forgot to tell that in Canada, the public broadcaster produced a show where they basically demonstrated that the chicken was not chicken, but instead it was a mix of flour and chicken. Subway sued the broadcaster and lost the pursuit.
@Happytravellerkimmy
@Happytravellerkimmy Рік тому
And Subway sued a public university for the lab work they did for CBC. It was actually that their "chicken" is a mix of soy and chicken and not strictly chicken. Now here's the thing: most cheap commercially prepared "beef" burgers have like 50% soy because they keep their shape and don't shrink down when they are cooked. It also makes them cheaper so the profit margins are better. So, I believe CBC and Trent U actually did solid lab work because adding soy to meat is such a common practice in the food industry and Subway's chicken always looked formed like it had been pressed in a mold. It's only a problem if you want to actually know what's in your food.

And then it was immediately debunked as a fake stunt for money like the tuna, yeah.
