День томуThe Redcat Ascent-18 is a great crawler out of the box - but does have a 50/50 f/r weight distribution. There are some free mods that help move some weight forward to improve performance - and then in this video, we install brass upgrades on the front axle to push the weight balance even more!

Seems like you got a near perfect front to back weight distribution Troy. I really like the look of these brass goodies on here too. If someone were to put all the extras on here, wouldn’t that be a bit overkill?

The parts you added look great and I am sure they will make a big difference on the course. One youtuber claimed that some TRX4M parts will fit the Ascent 18. Have you found that to be the case?

Depends on what parts. Things like links, motor, ESC could work as they are fairly universal. Parts like axles, etc will not.

Great hypothesis, I'm glad you tested it, and I am shocked at the result as well. That is good evidence for the fact that even though you're adding weight overall it still does help with the front bite on the front tires.

I guarantee there is a point of diminishing returns where gravity's affect on the added weight, outweighs the added traction on the front tires.

My concern would be on the descent. With so much front weight bias, would it flip over going down a ramp?

Might I recommend purple thread lock. It’s all I use on my rc’s. Less chance of stripping the head if they need to be removed later.

Is it the low strength? Blue has always worked great for me.

@@RoadsideRC yea it’s the step below blue. I’ve had problems in the past with some 1.5 mm and .050 heads. Blue holds well it’s the removal that’s got me.

Purple for basic screw holding and I have been using Permatex 24300 surface insensitive blue for everything else. You don't have to always make sure the screws are super clean.

Scx24 and TRX4M factory brass is also expensive. With these trucks being so new, I would guess other companies will put out some parts that are more reasonable in price.
