I dont really understand what this video had to do with right to repair. Did Tesla try to take this video down? Was a cease and desist issued to this garage? All I see is the dealer wanted to charge a Sky high price to repair then it was done much cheaper at another shop... welcome to owning any car in the past 100 years... Right to repair would be applicable if Tesla was saying that what you see in this video is illegal under the DMCA or took them to court. Thats what John Deere is doing to farmers. Tesla never said that, at least I don't see it anywhere....?? What am I missing. Also fwiw I can see why this kind of repair could not be stood behind because it may work but you couldn't guarantee it due to how it works, it is very depebdant on the skillset of this garage.

Tesla makes a battery and sells it for $16,000 then everything on the pack should be replaceable. Would you buy a regular engine with all the hose fittings part of the casting? Tesla engineers are either building to make repairs very expensive or building so write offs sell new cars. Either that or they are stupid. Do you think they are stupid? Main reason insurance companies write off vehicles as they are in agreement with manufacturers with some under the table deal. My new bought car had the appraiser write off a $14,000 car because of a little hail damage. Had to show them the value as they had it for $6000. The appraiser claimed she was new to the job and the replacing a guy on vacation. LOC We are nothing but pawns.

That way test was making money from another revenue stream without people buying the cars. It's kind of like paying for a royalty or a license. @@kidmosey no other car manufacturer is remotely as greedy as Tesla. They are absurdly unwilling to repair parts and insist on replacing entire subsystems rather than making them modular. BMW are probably the most similar, with a habit of combining parts that would never fail like cast alloy engine mounting brackets and thermostats or water pumps (or all three), but you can still replace most parts individually, and more importantly BMW will actually sell you parts to repair your car as well as workshop manuals. They will even sell you their diagnostic computers and access to their archives of firmware, it's not cheap but it's available. To make matters worse, if you buy a second hand Tesla, you have to buy all the performance upgrades again, and if you don't Tesla HQ will remove those features. The analog equivalent of a guy who follows you around and unbolts the turbocharger from your ICE engined car, takes it back to the dealership and insists you pay the retail price plus labor to have it reinstalled. Tesla go a step further and disable all forms of fast charging if you figure out a way to re-enable the features that have already been paid for on the car you supposedly own, effectively rendering it useless. Tesla's are nice cars, but Tesla Inc's unbridled greed would preclude me from ever considering one. For me driving a Tesla is like endorsing their ridiculousness, the best thing we can do for future generations (pun intended) of car owners is to support the companies who are most open to repair and modification and least prone to intruding in the car after you buy it, electronically or otherwise.

No Complaints and I own a M3. Back when the first Gen M3's came out there were a ton of videos/complaints pertaining to Squeaky upper control arms from a bad patch. My car started Squeaking at about 14k miles, after a couple videos and some Online photos I pulled the wheels off and removed a coiled clip (best explanation) from the top of the boot. There was a tiny fingernail sized blob of white Lithium Grease on each ball joint, way insufficient and the ball was starting to Rust. I had to use a socked to articulate the joint at first but it easily loosened up and then I did what I would do on any other vehicle. I greased the ball joint. No lithium just a good all around grease that I use on other ball joints. I also purchased a Needle style Grease extension, not to puncture the boot just to add more grease to the boot after it was folded back into position. Getting that clip back on was a bit of a pain especially with grease oozing out. That was 80k miles ago. There is Zero sign of any grease leaking from the boot but I do think its time to pull that spring out, stick a needle under the boot and add a shot of Grease. I have also replaced my own Wheel speed sensor (had come unsecured and contacted inside of tire and wore through the wire). Had to order it from Ebay but I still saved myself a 1 hour trip to a service center, an over night stay for the car (no loaner offered so I would have to arrange travel home and back) and about $250 on the repair. Which took 35 min, some of which was getting the tools out and the car jacked up and wheel off. I love Tesla but with a Mission to reduce Waste this kind of repair in this video is exactly what their mission is all about.

I got into an accident with my model Y. My tesla repair shop sent me an agreement saying that They don’t use aftermarket parts and if my insurance don’t cover genuine tesla part the I will be responsible for the additional cost, which could be anything and won’t know until they open the car up. Wow. This is absolutely crazy.. I literally apparently “hit something” and what I hit apparently went thru the tire wheel well tub and hit a coolant line. My car lost power and started flashing lights on my screen. I immediately pulled over and noticed a blue liquid pouring out the bottom out of the bottom of my car. I had no idea what it is. So I requested a tow truck. Tesla texted me and asked what happened. I explained what happened and they said, “Oh well the good news is, it’s only battery coolant and the Model 3 can drive short distances with little or no coolant. Just drive it home and schedule an appointment.” So I make an appointment and go to Tesla and the service techs were completely rude. I honestly do not believe I ran over anything. The coolant line busted right where the two white connections connected. So they voided my warranty and charged me $495 for a $8 piece and the rest LABOR!!! I ABSOLUTELY love my Tesla, but their service is CROOKED.. I honestly believe they know NOTHING about cars and they make up charges. I have friends who know people who used to work for Tesla and I heard that the service advisors are being told by their bosses they need to up charge. The whole process was a headache!!! I went to the Tesla repair center in Santa Ana. THEY SUCK!!!!!!

This is why they aren't even more expensive from the start. They know if it needs a lightbulb, they are going to charge hundreds. Service is a joke. Similar VW story, different ending: Someone reversed into our Golf, and a tab broke off the headlight. Since it was designed with repair in mind, I cut off the remaining bit, ordered a repair kit, and screwed it on (both genuine and aftermarket parts available). So I think Tesla should have a repair kit available, and make a weak point for the nipple to break at a place where it still has enough material to put the new fitting on. Plus the new nipple could also have a weak point, so that you can have it repaired as many times as necessary. :)

And gave it to me for $2000. Best $2000 i have ever spent. Been driving it for 7 years now. Runs like a clock to this day. No strong-arming from the manufacturer. (Some parts are a bit pricey but i know I'm paying for good build quality.) No extortional pricing. No discarding the whole for a bad part. EVERYTHING is relatively easy to do on this car. And, if Tesla represents the future of automobiles in this country, I will drive this untill I can't drive it anymore. Hopefully that won't be anytime soon.

But it took me a little time to get it running right again... Here is what I had to do.. 1. When you change the 12v battery, steal the sensor off the old battery. (it is the plug) 2.
