The Tetris® 99 29th MAXIMUS CUP event runs from 12 a.m. PT on April 22 to 11:59 p.m. PT on April 25. To participate, you’ll need to be a Nintendo Switch Online member* and play the Tetris 99 online mode during the event period. You’ll earn event points based on your placement in each match. Once you’ve accumulated a total of 100 event points, a new theme will unlock, featuring art, music and Tetrimino designs inspired by the Kirby and the Forgotten Land game!

Yay! Been awhile since we got a new Maximus cup / wallpaper theme! I hope one of these days the devs will throw another one of those rare events where you can purchase past themes/wallpapers that players may have missed cause I'm just missing 1 theme/wallpaper by accident.

It truly saddens me that the now-discontinued Super Mario Battle Royale could have been just like this: a fun experience which could have been added new themes and quirks as time went on. I'm just glad that Tetris players are still having an absolute blast with this one.

Man, this Kirby's Star Stacker remaster looks different compared to what I initially expected... All joking aside, it's great that Tetris 99 now has an unlockable theme based on Kirby & The Forgotten Land. I wonder if unlocking the theme will give one a little reward in Forgotten Land as well? Maybe a Present Code or something like that? Who knows!

I doubt it will. Past themes don't make crossover rewards too. Even Super Kirby Clash, the game that has a T99 theme and a prize redemption service, don't get bonuses.

This is all because of the latest patch (2.3.0), which provides support for additional Maximus Cup events. (If it was just a bug fix, it would be 2.2.1.)
