I was an Uber driver and picked a man up from the veterans clinic with serious brain damage, and my knowledge of old music was so exciting to him that he was bouncing and clapping with joy as I put on old tunes that were essentially lost to him. He’d sing a bit or hum some and I recognized all of them but this song. During the ride, we stopped to pick a friend of his up, which is super unusual during an Uber ride but of course I did it for him, and the three of us tracked down this song, which was paining him to try to remember. When he tried to think about things he’d forgotten, it literally looked painful for him. When we found out which song it was he was triggered with nostalgia and exploded “WINDY! WINDY!” And clapped and clapped, red faced smiling at me. I hold this memory so dear. I actually picked him up again a year or so later and understandably, he did not remember me, but it was still sad :( But I know I made his day that day.

I was 14 in 1967, when this song came out. We'd listen to this song on our mono ( as is in, not in stereo) transistor radios, broadcasted from AM radio stations. Eons before Bass enhanced music came along. I was innocent and naive,....a 14 year old (baby,...a know nothing.) I was still playing with my slot cars, building model cars,...pretending to be a Secret Agent (in my fantasies) inspired by the TV shows "Get Smart", and"The Man From UNCLE",...& maybe "I Spy". I'm 70, now.

On this day in 1967 {May 21st} "Windy" by the Association entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at position #52; five weeks later on June 25th, 1967 it would peak at #1 {for 4 weeks} and it stayed on the chart for 14 weeks... Between 1966 and 1981 the California sextet had thirteen Top 100 records; four made the Top 10 with two reaching #1, their other #1 record was "Cherish" for 3 weeks in 1966... They just missed having a third #1 record when "Never My Love" peaked at #2* {for 2 weeks} in 1967... Founding member & bassist Brian Cole passed away on August 2nd, 1972 at the age of 29... May he R.I.P. * The two weeks that "Never My Love" was at #2, the #1 record for both those weeks was "The Letter" by the Box Tops...

In the early 2000's, when I was in fifth grade, our attractive 20-year-old teacher played this gem and a couple of other amazing songs on the outside sound system while she held class in the schoolyard in the morning. She related that she had been turned onto them by her grandmother years earlier. We sat in the bright blazing sunshine with a gorgeous, cool breeze blowing. I probably remember "Windy" with the most passion because there was always a heavenly wind when she played it. Our beautiful teacher taught us about life, not just the mandated curriculum. Her enthusiasm seemed to be intensely fueled by the aforementioned epic songs, including "Beautiful Morning" by the Rascals. Suddenly, school was not so bad after all and I wanted to live forever. Hands down, those are my fondest childhood memories.

I love The Association! My dad was a record producer in the late 60s, early 70s, and was the first to record "Never My Love" with the Japanese group, The Johnnys in 1967. Larry Ramos, you are remarkable on "Windy." God bless you and your dear soul, in Jesus, we praise. Amen! MA

This group reminds me of sitting at the table eating breakfast with my father before he went to work, it brings back many memories as I'm now 68 and my father has been long gone.. But listening brings back a cherished times with him a this was my ringtone when I was 12💖🙏

This song reminds me of my first trip to New York City when I was only 6 years old. I know that sounds silly, but it brings back a lot of wonderful memories of that magical time that I experienced in such an awesome city. Hahahaha. ❤️

The Association never had any big hits in UK yet they got a lot radio airplay. I always liked their songs.

This was one of my mom’s favorite songs as a teen, so you know I swiped her 45 when I was a teen because she no longer had a turntable and I did, right? 😂 I remember, I was about 17… The Association played at a local festival we have here every summer and my friend’s mom had tickets. My friend didn’t want to go and was moaning and groaning about being stuck having to go see this old group her mom liked and she didn’t want to go. I asked which group. When she said The Association, I freaked! I asked if her mom had an extra ticket, which she did, and she happily let me tag along. My friend was so embarrassed when I was with her mom, dancing and singing along, especially to “Windy”… We both went nuts when they did that song! Wow, that was a long time ago, I just turned 50, but I reminder that night so clearly… It was amazing! ❤ Btw, this song was written by a fan for The Association 😊 If you look on the album, she actually is given credit. I can’t recall her name off the top of my head, but her first name is Ruth 😊

Hey, as long as it helps people discover quality music, I don't care what tv show, movie, or video game people first heard it. I just knew it as one of my parent's favorites.

i am 34 as i type this, born to two baby boomers. my father was born in 1953 and my mother a year later. thank you, you two for introducing me to what YOU grew up on. it is so much better than anything that came out when i was the same age as you two when this song came out.

I had this record; Great Pop music! Geez, in those days they actually wrote/sang/played and knew music like real musicians! Thankful to be from those times.

This song has a special place in my heart. I’ve always loved it. I named one of my Sweet Guinea Pigs, Windy after it. February 27th, 2018 she came into my life with a smile. The song got her so well! Her whole life, she loved when I’d sing it to her. Her little anthem! Windy passed away in October 2021. She now has her wings to fly above the clouds. Love you, Windy ❤️

Had not thought of this song in ages. Was explaining/introducing it to a 25-year old music teacher, and yes, there is so much for them to learn...

Written and originally recorded by an under-rated NYC folk singer Ruthann Friedman who was signed to Warner Brothers / Reprise at the time. One of her best albums was "Constant Companion." Ruthann has been brought out of retirement recently to record and perform again by many of her fans. If you read her bio this gal hung out with some heavy duty musicians back in the 1960's.

I grew up listening to this kind of music in the car because my mom would play sixties songs all the time. I’m 17 and enjoy it
