Man I’m a 62 yr old black guy livin in Baltimore’s hood, but I can listen to these songs before I ever listen to rap music. These 60s pop groups made some beautiful music. Just a beautiful atmosphere around all these 60s songs.

I'm across the river in Alexandria. I totally agree with you. You close your eyes, and you are somewhere else. "Time of the Season " isn't just a song. It's a mood.. It's a moment. It's a feeling. It's an era. It transports you to a whole other world. I hear it, and I'm swaying to the music, moving my hips and my arms slowly with my eyes closed. I'm drifting away to someplace beautiful overlooking the water.

My social studies teacher is 63, super nice guy, never gives homework and gives minimal tests. He always starts the class by playing old fashioned music from when he was a kid, then sings and plays the tambourine. He played this today and I had to hear it again. He was born in 1961, the same year the school he works at was built. He always joked about seeing if he could outlast the school. The school is being torn down this year, he wins.

Yes, Back in the Sixties, Many groups had a distinct sound that was all their own, instantly recognizable and thrilling. The Zombies had that very cool, jazz/rock vibe to their sound and lyrics that worked so well together. One gets such a powerful sense of this seductive but mysterious , incomprehensible Woman... Well, Let me tell you 'bout the way she looked, the way she act, the color of her hair, Her voice was soft and cool, her eyes were clear and bright... But She's Not There... WOW... Amazing!!!

I believe they were the first rock band to feature a jazz inflected piano break in a song. 'She's Not There' is on my top ten rock songs of all time. That's Rod Argent on the keys. When The Zombies broke up, he formed his own band Argent. His organ solo in "Hold Your Head Up" (long version) is considered to be one of the greatest in rock music.
@johnnynick36213 роки тому
Actually, it wasn't a synth. It was an electric piano... a Hohner Pianet. Rod Argent used it almost exclusively in their early songs and it contributed greatly to the group's distinctive sound.
@flynn89692 роки тому
@@johnnynick3621 organ
@johnnynick91152 роки тому
@@flynn8969 No Flynn - it was NOT an organ. It was a Hohner Pianet, an early electric piano. Most keyboard players in the sixties and seventies used either a Fender Rhodes or a Wurlitzer electric piano, sometimes along with a Hammond, a Farfisa or a Vox organ...but Rod definitely used the Hohner on this song. It's a totally different sound. I've been a pro keyboard player since this song came out and I've used pretty much every major keyboard at one time or another. The actual instruments used on most hit records are well documented. You can look it up if you like.

Rod Argent on keyboards wrote most of the music and contributed to a lot of the lyrics. He had a successful career after the Zombies broke up. 1st with his own band Argent then as a composer for films and television, record producer and session musician. Rod and his wife have been married 50 years. That is rare in normal society and even more rare in the entertainment business.

Rod and Colin got back together in 2001, they added Rod's cousin Jim Rodford and his son Steve to their new lineup and added Keith Airey as lead guitarist before Tom Toomey took over sometime in the late 2000's. Then Jim Rodford died in 2018. Chris White and Hugh Grundy reunited with Rod and Colin for the 50th anniversary of the Odyssey and Oracle release. Sadly, Paul Atkinson died in 2004.

The Zombies are an English rock band formed in 1960 in St Albans and led by keyboardist and vocalist Rod Argent and vocalist Colin Blunstone. The group scored a British and American hit in 1964 with "She's Not There". In the US, two further singles-"Tell Her No" in 1965 and "Time of the Season" in 1968-were also successful.Their 1968 album Odessey and Oracle is ranked number 100 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. It's funny, but you've known and loved the song since it came out, and though you know every word and note, one middle of the night watching of a UKposts video and suddenly it hits you - Dang, this song is sooooo good! The Zombies, like so many of the groups back then, came up with some really, really good stuff, and because there was so much good music, we tend to not realize how fortunate we are to have it.
