He actually is quite a talented player as most of these patterns or rhythms if you will, are played this rich usually by two or more player ensembles to have a more articulated and sonorous sound. He is in fact having a two (sometimes even three) player performance all by himself here without breaking sweat. Hats off!Playing darbuka is a whole lot more than meets the eye and the ear. Linear drumming at its finest with articulations that requires crazy practice to master.
@ValerioShoeshine7 років тому
thank you for the explanation
@efesli357 років тому
All darbuka players divides their right and left hands , it' s nothing special very random. Only difference he makes is he is using the " butterfly style". this style is very popular in Iran , if you are not familiar to drums it may sound to you very rich but actually it's a tricky n simple style, all he is doing is using his thumb behind his fingers for the tirrrrssss) it ' s same like buzzing tecnique on drum set , only thing you have to do loosing your wirst. The real musicians dont like this style because sound is not clear at all and it' s a piece of cake
@TolgaPala7 років тому
Clearly you know a whole lot more than I do about darbuka playing. Just to be clear, I was not referring to his independence, but rather his way of linear rhythmic thinking like all darbuka players seem to have almost naturally as if they are born with, I suppose mainly because of the musical genre dictates it. Granted, it may be an easy trick as you have pointed out however, I can't say the sound is not clear if I can hear it. Also if you are referring to the "buzz roll" for the snare drums, though it may seem very basic or rudimentary, it is not as easy as it seems to play it clean and articulated. Believe me, I know a thing or two about drums. ;)
@krazasawi17707 років тому
True. I'm from Kurdish Syria and we do butterfly technique often. I prefer split finger because you are correct it is clearer, but if you really work on the butterfly technique you can get it to sound very clean

This is truly the most amazing mix I have ever heard.😍😘 I am so glad that there are people out there who appreciate the raw talent in music. I feel that instruments pierce the soul with their beauty. Yes, vocals create a similar sensation, but they are not as powerful. This is truly beautiful, so bravo!🙋👌👍👍

When you listen to the intricacy of some of his rhythm patterns, it's hard to believe he only has two hands.
@Excalibure6663 роки тому
he has 10 fingers
@evdwal59213 роки тому
@@Excalibure666 exactly :) and actually its not só hard to play this, I know a few musicians from Turkey, Syria, Iran and the Netherlands who can do this (no offense to the gut who plays in the vid!)
@Excalibure6663 роки тому
@@evdwal5921 I agree. I'm not saying that he is bad. He is indeed quite good. Just not extraordinary. In Turkey usually they hold the drum under one arm and hand is almost like resting on the rim, I believe it gives more control on individual fingers.

@@evdwal5921 If it's so easy, show us a video where you are playing it.
@evdwal59213 роки тому
@@lizardas would love to, if I had one here at home! Though I didnt say that I can play perfectly :)
