I remember Max Kellerman asked him why he quit after the fight -- expecting him to say that he was injured or something -- and Walters basically said he quit because Lomachenko was too good. He had hurt him the round before or so and he didn't feel like fighting anymore. Walters had a good run for awhile though. Was kind of predictable but was probably one of the physically strongest featherweights/super featherweights you'll ever see.

If Loma defeats Haney I would love to see him try and get belts at 130 rather than trying to keep fighting at a weight class that is not his natural weight. Maybe the 130 title holders would be tempted to fight an older Loma, even if he defeats Haney.

Can people stop making excuses for Lomo and weight? It is 14 pounds from feather to light welter. Take some creatine. Eat some protein and put on 6 pounds of muscle. Great champions can come up and beat slightly bigger guys. Pacquiao, Marquez and Mayweather all did it. Ray Leonard did it! Duran did it! When Lomo fought at 126 he was often the bigger guy with fighters coming up to him. Rigo was a natural Bantamweight. Crying and making excuses every time he loses is bullshit.

I heard from a guy who heard from another guy that a few fighters were paid to quit against Loma in order to give him his buzz back after the early loss to Salido. Im not sure if its true but I notice that Walters quit boxing for 7 years after this fight in his prime and it was his only loss. That's very suspicious because I've seen much worse beatdowns and the fighters still choose to continue and some even attacks the ref for stopping the fight. I don't know if it's true but I wonder how Walters has been surviving for all these years 🤔

@@AlfaQgoode Doesn't matter. Look ate George Foreman. After his loss with Ali he was broken. So he fought 5 men in one night to prove himself. He beat all 5 but he didn't gain the public's respect. So he fought and beat Ron Lyle which did earn him some respect but he still hated himself. He wanted to he champion again. So he fough against a fast fighter and lost again. So he quit and didn't return until he was in his 40's. A lot of men lose their self worth in the ring. They have to win or else they're not men anymore. Sad reality but it's just what happens whem you give desperate young children a chance at the big leagues. Some can handle it, while most can't

@SnakeVenom 49 Foreman didn't retire after losing to Ali,he even went on the KO Frazier and fight multiple fights for years after. He retired to preach in Church,anytime a fighter quits in the middle of a fight without shedding blood and retires for 7 years as if he hit the lottery it looks suspicious. Normally when a fighter is losing bad they'll start throwing low blows like Judah against Mayweather. Or they'll fake an injury,Walters wasn't a superstar who would quit boxing because of a loss to a huge prospect. With all the facts laid out,it still looks suspicious

He stopped linares in 2018 (the first fight he took at 135), knocked out Crolla in 2019, made Campbell take a knee (granted the fight went the distance) , stopped nakatani in 2021, and put commey on his ass in 2021 as well ( this fight did go the distance as well)..he’s getting the job done fighting much bigger guys

He had to move up because none of the belt holders at 126 and 130 would fight him. So he had to move up to 135 and fight guys that a naturally bigger in frame size.
