In the HUB Essentials Checklist you listed it did not support "Deep Sleep can be Disable" I am currently using a MSI 321URX monitor and in settings you can change the power button to "Standby" which makes the power button only turn off the panel and backlight instead of the default setting OFF which turn off the whole monitor including the KVM switch. When using this setting I believe it provides a option to disable deep sleep or a similar behaviour to having deep sleep disabled where it prevents issues I have when the monitor is turned off such as HDMI hot-plug detection issues when using dual monitors (Windows 10 disconnecting the monitor ) and my USB devices on the KVM switch turning off. I consider this a useful feature on this monitor especially for OLED monitor to be able to turn of the screen without having to reposition things on Windows and also not having my keyboard and mouse on the KVM switch turn off when the monitor is off.

Thanks Tim. I would buy this over the ASUS due to the flat base. The Asus monitor legs block my keyboard. The superior burn-in mitigation is also very important. My Samsung S95B had a line running from top to bottom within 1 week of purchase but Samsung replaced the panel for me within a week so I would spend the extra and buy from authorised dealers rather than ship the unit from US to Singapore. I'd be switching screen off within 3 minutes so using this in office app should be fine and I don't need Dolby Vision since I only use AMD GPU. Let's see what other brands offer. The UI for all my devices are dark mode anyway so power usage for OLED should be fine. Once the screen lit up, the purple tint is not noticeable for the Samsung S95B so I'm hoping this gen of QD-OLED monitor will be fine in bright daylight. I sit beside the windows but I think 400 nits should be fine.

This feature is exceptionally useful for productivity work if properly supported by the monitor, especially if it also has a built in KVM switch (like the Asus PG32UCDM). Another great review. I already bought the AW3225QF, but it's always nice seeing these reviews. I know Reddit has a hard on for the ASUS monitor, but a lot of the added features it has over other monitors are pretty niche for most users. The price premium for the ASUS monitor just doesn't make sense for most countries it seems. In Canada it's a 400 dollar price premium for the ASUS over the Alienware. I just can't justify that much more money for a few features I genuinely don't care about. And with MSI only being 50 dollars cheaper and longer wait time, Alienware was right up my alley.

Great review as always. As i'm in Europe then its a real shame MSI are not are implementing the same pricing strategy, which means I'd be more tempted to go for the Asus model at a slight premium. Excellent, like usual... Price of MSI is 1429€ in my country and ASUS is announced to be 1499/1529€, but only in march... I going to wait :( One thing you not talked is power cord, Asus have a special big power adaptator, i'm not fan of this but maybe it's good to maintain monitor temperature ?
@rojjter9721
@rojjter9721 2 місяці тому
yeah it'll probably be cooler due to the separate power block
@DavidSoeiro
@DavidSoeiro 2 місяці тому
I'm sure ASUS made that for some a good reason and cooling is a good reason with OLED @rojjter9721

A separate power brick is always good in case it fails (hardware defect, lightning strike etc.), makes it easier and faster to replace it.

For PS5 I would pickup an LG TV. 42 inch LG C2 or C3 is like $899 here in the US.

Great review! Just ordered mine. Does the HDR cause any increase in input or system latency? I'm wanting to know if I should have it on when I play high competitive FPS games. Thanks!

That isn’t a problem on oled displays. Only on mini leds.

Should mention that Asus offer advanced panel replacement with their warranty like Dell does. Not sure if MSI offers this. Heard you have to send it back to factory and wait for it. So you would have to add the cost of a BB warranty or something as well and the price gets closer.

Have you guys considered looking into koorui's monitors? I'm interested in the gp01 because it's seemingly the only high refresh 1440p monitor at a 24" size, but all of their prices are pretty aggressive in the US

Waiting for the HP Transcend variant, the feature set on that one is just bonkers. If that one disappoints, I'll just wait for the LG panel variants. But, for less than 1k this is pretty good

@@calantheshaman Just be aware that there are still issues with dolby vision still enabling it's self after the monitor has turned off, and potential shipping scratches. Might be worth waiting for them to fix that 2nd issue especially. The Display Guy just did coverage on this if you want more details and that they are looking into it.

@@C0manso I actually just watched the video. The shipping issues really suck. I don't get why they don't have a peel off sticker. @@calantheshaman The Display Guy just wrote on his community page that Alienware have now added protective film :) Although it might take time to roll out. So maybe still don't buy straight away. And the Dolby Vision issues are getting looked into. So probably could be the one you want to get in a couple weeks time.

6k PLN in Poland. 4k PLN for the LG 42C3. If you can fit the TV on your desk and sit around 80-90 cm from it (eyes - screen distance), don’t bother with the 32-inchers IMO, unless you care about competitive FPS gaming.

¥217,800 here in Japan. This is compared to the Alienware which is ¥159,800 a ¥60,000 (approx. $400 USD) difference. I just got my 27” AW OLED Monitor and am very happy with it

Every 4 hours, or 16 if you change it in the OSD. And it took long enough for me to just walk away and eat dinner... Don't know how long it takes yet. By brightness levels are only HDR400 which peaks at 450 nid for me, peak 1000 is beautiful, but too bright for me. With the brightness of my usual usage, I'll probably turn on the 16 hour mode

my biggest gripe with the latest MSI QD-OLED monitors is no G Sync compatibility. Their adaptive sync sucks with an Nvidia GPU. I keep getting flickering whenever I have it enabled. Had the 360HZ 1440p monitor and exchanged it for the this monitor and it still does the same thing. Probably going to get rid of it and pay the extra cost for the Asus one as at least theirs is G Sync compatible certified.
