Hi. In today's episode, we look at some tech CEOs who may not make the headlines as much as your Musks and Zuckersberg, but who nonetheless have a huge (negative) impact on our society with their anti-worker, privacy-shattering decisions.

It's so insane to me that someone could make a billion dollars and then not immediately retire and vanish from public life to go live in peaceful luxury in a sick house somewhere in the woods.
@deathshop2172

I know that's what I'd do with a billion dollars. but first I'd take a paycut and invest the many many millions of dollars I make each year back into my company. (and keep like, a million per year or whatever)

Considering 1% of 1 billion is enough to live a full lifespan in upper-class luxury without ever needing income of any kind... yeah. It's absurd that billionaires exist at all. A sane person would've retired hundreds of millions of dollars ago.

Why would you live in the woods if you can buy luxury homes all over the world. If I was endlessly wealthy I would never stay in a place for more then a week. The whole world is your playground when money is not a thing to worry about any more

‼️Ive been driving for Amazon since 2021. Since Bezos left...I still dont have time to take my 15 minute breaks, I still piss in bottles, they still pack our vans so full that I have to step on packages to get to the ones I need, I've been bitten/attacked by dogs 4 times and every time they sent me right back to the same house with no changes to the account, I had a coworker threaten to shoot me infront of everyone and my boss didn't fire him because "we need bodies," I still make half of the minimum livable wage in my county, and I requested a new uniform over a year ago, only just got it last week and they said they didn't have any more of my size so my whole outfit is 2 sizes too big for me. Yea fuck amazon❗ Oh and also, drivers still cannot unionize because they structured it to baisically be 100s of franchise contractors. So I technically work for a small business which makes it extremely hard to organize across Amazon, even within the same location.
@NathaNeil27
@NathaNeil27 6 місяців тому
If you can, switch contractor companies to someone who values you more. Or... just gtfo of there life I did. If you want to screw over your boss and get that bag, purposely go slow to get overtime every day and refuse to let co-workers "rescue" you aka take packages off you. I used to be fast but was rewarded with more work within the same amount of time. Meanwhile, my older, wiser coworker would get 11 hours, 4 days a week and was getting paid more than me for being worse at her job. I should've copied her cuz Amazon sucks.

well gates is a psychopath and psychopaths are just incapable of humanity doesnt mean theyre too stup!d to understand how to manipulate it though he knows EXACTLY what he's doing. "he gives so much though" not enough "hes only gonna give a million to each kid" should be zero "hes changed the world for the better" at only his whim and extremely lethargicly and ineffectively. fact is the us government and the un have FAR FAR FAR more experience and expertise at hunger and disease eradication. say what you want about both organisations, youre probably right, but without eother the world wouldnt only be FAR FAR FAR worse off but it would likely be an unmitigated hellhole of radiation, death, and destruction under the heel of ruzzia and/or china. america aint perfect and weve committed heinous unforgivable crimes but were doing and excellent job at mitigating war and suffering. we should be doing more but bill gates' foundation is nothing compared to what the us or un could do with even a fraction of it's money. cause it isnt just money, its also people and brains. and the us and the un dont f!%king miss when recruiting the brains cause if we did we'd all be dead right now. aid shouldbt come from the fickle behest of the rich. it should come from governemnts reined by the people. "windows made computers more consumer friendly" windows is neither the first and is FAR from the best consumer focused OS. b@stard just got lucky. like ALL rich people do. theyre not special or better than anyone else. theyre all just lucky.

im no expert but even i can tell that windows is barely held together by dreams, fairy dust, unicorn farts, and cheap duct tape. and each edition seems to just add more and more and more dumptrucks of bloat onto the already strained house of soggy unlamenated playing cards i mean just open the quick menu, settings, AND control panel. count the number of redundant functions and menus. ill wait. cause the number is really really big. problem isnt only the bloat its also microsoftpen!s' envy. they see android's MASSIVE MASSIVE dominance of everything more smart than a republican (which includes toasters and crockpots btw) and want windows to emulate android but their engineers can only do it superficially and clumisly. it emulates the look and some design elements but doesnt have any of the functionality, efficiency, simplicity, elegance, ect. there are so many games and heavy duty software that even an UNROOTED android can run so much better and at so much higher quality than any mid tier and maybe even a decent chunk of high tier desktops can do at 20x+ the wattage, cost, and waste. and you can completely forget a rooted flagship samsung tablet. my rooted samsung tab s8 ultra running desktop linux completely blows my 4070 i9 32gb RAM desktop from earth and all the way up god's a$$hole and out again. you need a freaking 4060 in a $1500+ system to run minecraft at max settings with shaders and everything else at 4k. at 40 FPS. meanwhile i can do all that on my old as f!%k note ten plus samsung running at 3400× 1440 and i WONT set the atmosphere on fire unlike my 4070 and its 1000 watt power plant will 🙄🙄🙄 god some pcs need more electricity than my entire f!%king kitchen on most days thats pathetic. it isnt about power. its about efficiency. and windows is a constantly starving whale.

So long as you're not caught in the act of selling drugs, they can't prosecute you, but if they ever find out you didn't pay all your taxes, it's straight to prison. If homeless drug dealers can pay their taxes, billionaires can pay their fucking taxes. EDIT: The IRS will not rat you out for paying taxes on illicit earnings. They just want your money. I highly recommend just giving them the money.

i worked at msnbc when the merger went through and there was a marked difference in how employees were treated. for one thing, my corned cream collection was unceremoniously banished to the cleaning supply closet, how was i supposed to take my 12 naps a day when the only dark place was filled with a lumpy, splooshy, slaps you in the tummy, glow in the dark off yellow culinary(?) monstrosity. none of my inner office memos threatening vaguely sinister consequences were even acknowledged, oh crap, i was sending those to my mom didn’t i? no wonder she won’t return my calls. seriously though, after the merger, none of my decades long experience in the field was listened to, they talked less and less about the employee satisfaction survey on the extremely rare occasions management held a team meeting, and our priorities shifted from giving consumers a cool, engaging, and innovative news experience accessible to everyone, to a fixation on moving the needle on xfinity sign ups. i already forgot his name again, but that ceo is my mortal enemy. Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard, earns 306 times more than his average employee, making him the one of most overpaid CEOs in the games industry. He also once left his assistant a voicemail threatening to have her killed and oversaw and participated in workplace abuses, including, but not limited to, sexual harassment of female employees. Microsoft recently bought Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion. Bobby Kotick is said to be remaining in his role through the end of 2023. Bobby Kotick will never receive any real consequences for anything. The only solace we have is photoshopping devil horns onto pictures of him because it hurts his feelings. Quote from Kotick: “Think about what it's like for my dating life when the first picture that comes up is me as the Devil.”

@@airlesscanvas6425 Why are you making it sound like Cody hoards all of the money for himself lmao? Assuming their average Patreon sub is paying $15 (probably much lower tbh), with the 6668 patrons they currently have, they'd make ~100k gross. Patreon + CC processing fees will typically eat up 5-12% of that and taxes in Cali will likely take another 30%, so they could reasonably be making like ~60k per month through Patreon alone. That's obviously a ton for a single person, but they're paying writers, editors, researchers, directors, etc. to produce extremely long and well-researched on a very consistent and quick schedule. After you account for salaries, production costs, equipment, and everything else that goes into video production, it's very easy to see where this money goes. Also, just to be clear, even if none of the money they received went back into producing the show in any way (which is a completely braindead take btw) and they just hoarded it all for themselves, framing them "as part of the rich" as if millionaires have anywhere near the amount of impact or influence as billionaires do is stupid. Even if Cody was getting the full 100k every month, it would take him over 800 years to get to just one billion dollars. Elon's net worth is currently 230 billion lol.

I feel an important thing needs to be said about billionaires; the reason why they pursue more money than they could possibly ever use in their personal life is because it's not about the money. It's about power and control. They don't fight unions and screw over consumers because they want another yacht or whatever. They already have all the material things they could ever want. What they want is control, power and prestige. You don't become a billionaire to live an easy life. You become a billionaire to dominate other people.

For a larger company it may become necessary to have a CEO. Even a cooperative corporation like Mondragon has a CEO (although they are appointed by the Governing Council elected by the General Assembly of Worker-Members instead of a Board of Directors elected by a group of rich and powerful shareholders). For smaller companies, and small business units within a larger company, autonomous and democratic decision-making is feasible and a CEO is entirely unnecessary.
