It's definitely a very biased website, they cite sources from a religious group (conflict of interest lol) Regardless, read a couple more studies and it's a controversial topic. Basically, DSM-5 doesn't classify it as an addiction. ICD-11 labels it as an impulsive control disorder. This is a massive rabbit hole and I would highly recommend you reading into it if you are curious about this topic :)

As someone who was exposed to pornography at a young age it really does affect you as you age…I honestly when I was younger I couldn’t look at my own body without being disgusted or slightly aroused….i had also viewed some people as objects…I was hyper sexual at 14, I had found discord sexting sites and met some strangers online…I saw them as friends…it ruined my mental health and gave me an eating disorder aswell as insomnia because I wanted to be online as much as possible to interact with them. and the only reason I had done it back than was because I seemed validation, I seeked attention that my parents or family members didn’t…and now I’m in therapy, I am aroace and I’m trying so hard to resist the temptations so far I hadn’t viewed that stuff in 7 years also, I am forever thankful for my parents punishing me from my phone for 2 years once they found out, it helped me heal and rediscover who I really was.

The Roblox Condo Discord servers are also not very different. Rather they have a "For discord staff" channel too where they put their fake message up to the Discord staff. If Discord ever gets responsible with the reports, they could literally be helping thousands of minors by banning these servers and subsequently destroying the condo chains.

tbh this was pretty light Here in Brazil about 8 months ago there was a huge scandal (with most main TV channels covering the story) where the actual Federal Police investigated a huge Discord Server where the admins/owners would blackmail newcomers (mostly minor girls and a couple boys) into some really messed up stuff. At first they'd request an "iniciation" into the server, where the target would have to share their faces and then do some shameful stuff, but after a while they'd threat them most of the time with Doxxing and force them to the heavy stuff: self-multilament with knives, setting big stuff on their houses on fire, torturing (and even killing) pets, sharing nudes, fleeing their houses and going into their cities, threating them like "gods" and there was even multiple acusations of r*p* thankfully they've all been arrested, and what's crazy is that there were people from cities across the entire country involved.... Discord really has to do something about its (non-existent) moderation

It's absolutely insane how predatory these servers are, all for the sake of money and their own personal gain. It's disgusting. Thank you for shedding light on this issue so that at least those who fell for this scam realize that they need to get out soon, or for those who have family, friends, lovers who fell for this scam and just wants to help them escape this horrible situation. Even if Discord doesn't do anything about this, at least we got people like you to help others.

Not only do they use bots from these servers to get you to join more of them, but they also use different scam bots (mostly raiding bots) to get permission to join servers for you. Something like this happened to me. I was mad at my friends for banning me from his servers, so I decided to raid them, but I had no idea how to raid the server, so I went to UKposts and found a video where they told me how to raid a server through a bot. In the video description, they had a link to DC, from where you can get the bot. I joined the server, and a bot asked me for permission to join the server for me. Later, I decided not to raid the server, and I left the server (from where I got the bot), but strangely, I kept getting added back to the server and also on some NSFW and scam servers. I didn't know why it was happening until I found out about the authorization setting and deauthorize the bot. Then it stopped.

I had the same idea, bro but this is different. I had got a singlular Dm from a random guy and i decided to join a server that he sent a link to me and my acc was unintentionally sending scam links to all my group dms and servers and this was an absolute nightmare, so this is extremely controversial to social media since porn is such a terrible addiction especially among teens. I also decided to dig through some servers through tiktok, i did find many and i mean MANY of these server links and it just went on and on like a chain. One day, discord will have a very controversial case and this is absolutely annoying. This caused me to get banned in all my servers I had a specific staff role in a server and now I got banned thanks to this piece of garbage. Thank you for spreading awareness for this issue I have now subscribed to you even though you posted this video a month ago.

I've been using discord since 2017, Being super careful with my account. I've had many memories with that account. Many many friends. My whole childhood was on discord and roblox and UKposts. That time discord was something else and now it has messed itself up. They banned me on November of 2023 bbecause" I said I am 6 (jk) " And I didn't even mean it as age. My friend asked me what do you rate your face, I said I am 6 and they banned me because I was underage. It got me so worried I sent multiple reports but they didn't even bother responding. I sent them messages via email, Twitter, but again no response. After 1 month my account, my 6 year old account was banned. My whole childhood faded and my memories were gone. Be careful About your age guys , make sure you never make it sound like you are underage

FYI all it takes to access NSFW channels is tell discord you're 18, then click allow when it asks you if you want to view that channel. There is no verification needed or need to take alternative measures to bypass it. I'm sure by now that the majority of teens on the internet have no problem lying about their age and most apps don't care in verifying any of that.

Kinda not related, but a while ago, me and a buddy of mine were scrolling through disboard server, trying to find ones where we can just screw around in, and slightly inconvenience people. Well we came across this nsfw furry rp server, and after going through the lengthiest verify process I've ever seen for a server (like you had to make your own furry OC, give it a name, gender, etc) we got in. And holy crap this server had a MILLION channels in them. We couldn't really do much when it came to trolling cause we'd lose the channel if we scrolled too far from it. Anyways after about, 10 minutes of being in the server, my buddy starts sharing his screen showing the inside of a channel called "d--- pics" and by God it was horrifying. It's exactly as the channel name implies, people PUBLICLY sending pictures of their privates. Mind you, most of the server members, and active users of this channel were most likely, if not definitely minors. It was absolutely disgusting seeing what people are doing to kids now, and it doesn't look great for future generations either. I pray this server was taken down after the bombardment of reports we made on it, but God only knows. To anyone who has a kid/plans on having kids, do NOT give them Internet access at an early age. It does something to one.

Very good video essay investigation! I think this problem is here to stay in the current social media environment. I believe this can be tackled better in a decentralized model such as the Fediverse. Moderation can become better if multiple companies and communities can perform it. You can develop a smaller/local community that share similar values and also connect with a wider social web. The Matrix protocol is looking to become a good replacement for Discord. However, I still use Discord for the moment, but I do open we can decentralize chat as well. Protocols, not platforms.

This video really be showing me what I hate most. I've had an experience with a server that talked a lot about porn and also had minors, and it led me to me "voice acting" and even "writing" at literally 12 years old, which rightfully got my OG account banned. You can probably tell what happened a year later when I met someone who had even more experience. This video should really serve as a warning for all minors using Discord and the detrimental effects.

this video is such a W coming from someone who had this addiction. Children don't have the best impulse control and their brains are still developing (even into the late 20s). It's our job (and their parents) to protect them, not hand it out like some flyer. Theres a reason why drinking is 21+, because it is addictive. I mod a server where minors (one of them even being 12) were posting nsfw stuff. Theres a rule against it and nobody wants to see it. Its a small server and a lot of the members have done this and been banned. It's so bad.

My friend last week was looking for anime servers to join. He went to one of those sites that has a list of all these various community discord servers and what have you. Anyways, one of them that he ended up joining had legit CP on it. He then calls me asking how to report the server. He reports the server and leaves shortly there after. Though he's been a bit shaken up since then. To be honest I think reporting that server to the FBI would've been smarter or at least reporting the website link(s) my friend found. At the end of the day I learned where the closest FBI office to me is and learned that reporting a crime is annoying because there's different links for xyz form. Not like just one stop shop, no, no you gotta go here and then here, oh and now you're in the right place.

i joined discord in 2017 and i ended up getting banned in 2023 because whenever i was trying to find a new server to join, i kept finding server after server that broke the TOS so i’d join each server to report it, eventually discord just banned me cause they said i was intentionally being apart of groups that went against TOS 💀 like?? their moderation is absolutely insane, and on top of that they would NOT reply to any of my emails and just straight up deleted my whole account without a single warning.

there are bots that spam these invite links in public random discord servers too which is really annoying because it happens like 3x every day and u have to ban the account for another one to show up
