Takahiro Iwasaki is best known for his detailed miniature landscapes, made from found materials such as toothbrushes, books, flags and used clothing - even hair. Takahiro’s work is very much a reflection of his relationship with Japan, having grown up in Hiroshima. His works, while whimsical, are melancholy, reflecting Japan’s past trauma, both historically and more recently with the Fukushima nuclear disaster.

Even just watched here on youtube these works seem very special- in a way they seem very beautifull because of all the rhytmic and structural patterns - as wings of insects - cutting light into abstract visions and then also so sad because of the historical realities of war, death and destruction and yet also illustrating the eternal hope of life that imagination can always transform anything into new possibilities, new beauty and new life - at the same time amazing and even playfull

Your art work is amazingly mesmerizing, intricate, and well-articulated. I get anxiety just looking at your Japanese inspired architecture exhibited at the Venice Exhibition and thinking that you only get so many months to complete what seems monumental.
