@@alinutzalin6346 When my man said part/module/sensor, I was referring to the last 2/3rds of his statement (module/sensor). Lotta folks will see a check engine light on then change the part that's actually telling them "where" the issue is. They sell a lotta O2 sensors that way. How many times have you seen a person change an O2 sensor for nothing? Had a guy come to me after he changed his O2 sensor, he cleared the code and it came back. It turned out to be a vacuum leak behind the mass airflow sensor. He didn't pay attention to his scanner. If he'd looked at the freeze frame feature, he might have seen the O2 sensor voltage was high trying to compensate for a lean condition. Just an example.

Its so frustrating to have a truck that works perfectly but the o2 sensor for EPA fails and it puts your truck into a low power state. Nothing is wrong with the truck, its not even polluting. But one sensor shuts the truck down.
@skoparweaver7692
@skoparweaver7692 Рік тому
Very few vehicles tie limp mode to the post cat o2 EPA nanny sensors. Unless it's a wide band sensor that is before the cats and those are to measure fuel mixture. If that o2 sensor is bad it's not an EPA issue - it's an issue with the computer not being sure the vehicle is running stoichiometric. Swap in a new o2 sensor, rip the cat off and call it a day. Just because your truck has a check engine light doesn't mean it's in limp mode.

Scotty was able to breeze thru this in 10 minutes. Most dealer mechanics aren't this smart and even if they are the profit margin is minuscule when you do it right, in comparison to replacing an engine. Sorry to say, greed is the leader in so many businesses that have a payroll to meet.

Ten minutes in a video is much, much longer in real life. His road tests, for instance, that's an easy 10 - 15 minutes each right there. You're watching the summary of what he went through with all the things that didn't work out edited out.
@anthonygarcia5746

Well those 10 min was like a day max . But the problem was the fuel injectors. Let’s say your car doesn’t turn on….we’ll buddy that’s going to take longer than one week to figure out and another month to fix the problem. If you never been under a car don’t complain and most importantly if you never take care of your car.

@@anthonygarcia5746 If a car doesn't turn on it's usually the battery. If it doesn't turn over, it's the battery. If it clicks rather than turning over, it's the battery. If it turns over and doesn't start, it's usually the fuel system. Engines only need 3 major things - air, fuel and spark. You can eliminate each possibility with a few simple tests. Then it's time to repair the issue which could take a month, but I doubt it. All of the issues I've found with cars over the years are usually very small things causing big problems. No throttle response - cable broken (10 minute repair), random stalls (loose battery connection), random stalls (unmetered air due to a loose intake clamp AFTER the MAF), etc etc etc. Most of this stuff takes a few minutes to find and a trip to an auto parts store. Some of the issues just require a screwdriver or 10mm socket.

To solve to O2 sensor issues, I use spark plug anti-fouler adapters in the downstream O2 sensor locations (after the cat), then reinstall the O2 sensors in to the adapters. This works by pulling the O2 sensor out of the exhaust stream, and generation numbers that are far closer to what is expected by the computer, acting as if the O2 sensors and the cat(s) were still in their original locations. Works extremely well on Toyota's which use air/fuel sensors instead of O2 sensors. And the spark plug anti-foulers are dirt cheap!

The injector balance test does not "balance" the injectors. It's meant to be used with a manual fuel pressure gauge to compare the injector flow from one injector to the next. A larger drop in fuel pressure indicates higher than normal flow. GDI injectors typically will have to be calibrated when they are changed, but there's no GDI on that rig...

This video does show how complex modern cars have become with their many microprocessor based controllers and shows that after some items are replaced some things can require resetting to tell the control system that new parts have been installed. However there is one thing that can be even more difficult to troubleshoot on modern cars and that is intermittent problems that do not bring in any trouble code and take a lot of testing to recreate the intermittent and find out what is happening. One example of this occurred on a 2011 BMW 328i that I had. It developed a once in while engine stall problem when I came to a stop. It took about 5 days for the dealer to finally determine that the Engine Crankshaft Position sensor was slowly going bad. Once this was replaced there was no more engine stalling.

I feel that newer cars are more user friendly for people that aren’t master mechanics. Maybe there is a cutoff to when vehicles start to become overly complex though.
