Corporations werent paying enough for people to live on. 2.) The CARES Act was enough to live on. 3.) On average a person roughly pays 30% including Federal and State taxes give or take. Yet many of these huge corporations pay zero Federal taxes. Sure Amazon for example pays State Taxes...which they collect from buyers. Yet the average person on top of the 30% pays through his nose for crappy health insurance. For education when we have already paid for public colleges through taxes. Huge Student debts for jobs that will take decades to pay off said debts. Now with Covid 19 you have young people qualifying without jobs. The government belongs to the people. But Congress, the president and the judges all work for corporations. That is simply why we have so much poverty and misery.

Expanded unemployment is slowing the recovery because people are reluctant to go back to work. A lot of businesses are trying to hire but struggling to find workers. There is also the threat to the national debt, which poses long term economic risks. IMO we should not be spending any additional money on stimulus, we need to get the deficit and national debt under control.

Jason Martinez my partner has a person working under him that has been trying to get his new carpet installed for 2 months. The installation company keeps canceling the install because the owner of the company can’t get his employees to come back to work for him. The employees reason for refusing to come back to work is that they are making more money on unemployment with the extra $600 a week. It’s not the only instance of this that I have heard. A local restaurant can’t open their usual 6 days a week because former employees refuse to return to work due to the extra $600 a week that they are making on unemployment. No one is begrudging anyone any money to survive; however LOTS of people are taking advantage of the system and that is why the program is going away. Don’t be mad at Capitol Hill for having to discipline grown ass adults to do the right thing and go back to work when they have the opportunity to do so. I wish it was mandatory that prospective employers trying to rehire laid off workers to report said workers that refuse to return to work because of the unemployment benefits that they are getting. It’s sad that some adults need to be backed into a corner financially to make them do the right thing.

I get what your saying, but A LOT of businesses would go under if they had to give every single one of their employees and extra $600 a week. That's an extra $2,400 a month per employee. It's unrealistic. Most businesses are not Apple and Amazon with seemingly limitless avenues of revenue.

If a company is failing, it should be allowed to fail. The corporate bailouts that we've seen in the US over the decades are done under a guise of saving hundreds of thousands of american workers jobs who are employed by these companies and i struggle to grasp that reasoning in the face of a corrupted and failing company.
