Lennox Lewis was an all time great slowly losing motivation to stay on the championship treadmill. The heir apparant was a steely Ukrianian destined for war. Lennox had to cope with his waning motivation, Vitali learns what the level of a champion is.

Vitali Klitschko 6' 7″ 250 lbs KOs 87% with 80" reach had 47 pro fights and only lost twice due to horrible cut and torn rotator cuff. He never hit the canvas and was never behind on judges scorecards after the 2nd round. He had excellent power with granite chin and great determination with PhD-intelligence. Vitali woulda been Huge factor in any decade.

Soft spoken Lennox Lewis at his best was the total package. The last undisputed Heavyweight champion emerged as cream of the crop against some of the biggest punchers in Heavyweight history. Lennox avenged his only two defeats by knockout. He didn't make excuses for his losses, he said, "It's Heavyweights, you can get caught, but i won the rematches in style," and "Show me a Heavyweight champion without a loss and i'll show you a fighter that fought a lot of nobodies." In my opinion Lennox Lewis is the GOAT. To hear 58 year old Lennox talk so clearly and eloquently after going up against 18 Heavyweight Champions is remarkable. The 18 HW Champions Lewis faced: Vitali Klitschko, Evander Holyfield, Mike Tyson, Shannon Briggs, Frank Bruno, Tony Tucker, Hasim Rahman, Oliver McCall, Mike Weaver, Henry Akinwande, Tommy Morrison and Ray Mercer were later recognized as WBO champions, British HW champion Gary Mason, European HW champion Jean Chanet, Commonwealth HW champion Derek Williams, Canada HW champion Razor Ruddock, IBF/WBF HW champion Michael Grant, and WBC International HW champion David Tua...[[ technically not all were 'World' champions but champions nonetheless ]]. Other notable mentions; Olympic HW Silver medalist Riddick Bowe, Olympic HW Gold medalist Tyrell Briggs, Andrew Golota, Zeljko Mavrovic, Frans Botha and Phil Jackson
@soundwavesuperior28
@soundwavesuperior28 Місяць тому
everyone on that list are bums. Mike Tyson was an overrated one punch pony by the 2nd half of his career. Holyfield was raging on steroids and a dirty fighter. Shannon Briggs lost to George Foreman. Frank Bruno was an overrated nobody. Oliver McCall lacked the mentality. Tommy Morrison was out of his league by the age he faced Lewis. Probably the most solid opposition, but he too raged on steroids. Ray Mercer was a dirty fighter who deserved to have his license revoked. He should be universally shamed for his conduct against Morrison. Compare that to people like Foreman. Ali. Haggler. Hearns. Leonard. Robinson. Marciano. Lewis was the best of his era. An era defined by a generation of losers.

This was SUCH an important win for Lennox to finish his career with. Vitali was a top class heavyweight in his prime and in great shape. Lewis was unmotivated and under-prepared here, also pushing 40 years old, this was nowhere near Lewis at his best, yet he still got the job done against a prime highly motivated Vitaly who had studied Lewis for years, However i think Vitaly always would've given Lewis hell for leather, He was physically huge, strong and threw high volume punches from awkward angles. But I still think a fully focused Lewis in his best shape would've won way more comfortably than he did here.

The big controversy was not that klitschkos eye was damaged pretty much. it was that it has been for quite a time and that everyone saw lennox loosing slowly to the point he was totally gased out. you can see it as he droppes on his chair. everyone saw it. and immediately after this he was declared the winner. thats what all the people saw. the audience even cheered for klitschko. although his eye was damaged it totally looked like the moment everyone knew lennox would loose, the doctor stopped the fight. some poeple say its bad timing, but lots say it was cheated
