Zelda: Open your eyes! Decayed Guardian: DON’T MIND IF I DO

People were like: “the game won’t be THIS good” Nintendo: “yeah about that”

It has been six years and this still sends shivers down my spine.

Anyone else come back here just to pay respects before Tears of the Kingdom? For some reason I just can’t shake the feeling that Tears will be the end of something long and beautiful

Gamers: "What you see in the trailers is never going to be in the game." Nintendo: "Hold my grape juice."

This did not meet my expectations. ... *_It exceeded them._*

Reading thru the comments, makes me realize I am not the only one that wants to experience this game for the first time again. Here’s hoping the sequel will be able to continue that feeling after playing it. This game is just quite simply the precipice of what a game should be. Every person can play this game their own way. And that is where it’s greatness lies. It doesn’t hold your hand or tries to “subvert” your expectations. The creators know what we fans want. And. They deliver it in spades. I’m coming to tears just writing this. And. The best pet. I don’t feel the least bit embarrassed. Im a 48 year old man. Who grew up and lived thru the Atari age thinking. It can’t ever get better. Than. A little card company came along. And who could know. They would one day create the greatest game ever. In my humble opinion. I say the sequel does not have top it. Just continue it.

This game was truly worthy of the Game of the Year title. It has set the bar impossibly high for the sequel, but I believe the developers are capable of reaching that bar. I cannot wait until BOTW 2.

To this day this trailer gives me literal chills. I was so excited for BoTW to come out because of how different it was from the rest of the series. Makes me wish I could go back to 2017

People complaining about graphics just need to shut up for once. Its called an art style, and people don't have to like it.

How could anyone say this game is overrated? It is one of those rare games that can engage every emotion out of its players.

Possibly the most honest game trailer ever released. - Entirely in-engine, which is refreshing in a world where games are often shown off as entirely pre-rendered cutscenes designed to look as epic as possible with no semblance of gameplay whatsoever. - Contains almost an entire minute of just panning over wide landscapes while playing ambient sounds and the odd piano note, which is very much representative of the atmosphere of the final game. - Much of the trailer is spent just going over basic gameplay features that will end up being mundane mechanics you'll see for the entire game - eg. magnesis, stasis, cooking, the ability to climb anything, etc. - A huge portion of the footage is just from the great plateau. - Trailer is in 720p, which is actually a lower resolution than the final Switch version, which is what most people will end up playing. This is pretty much the opposite of what developers typically do to hype a game up, but somehow Nintendo managed to show off this game in the most basic and honest possible way and it was still enough to hype people up for it. It's nice to see a game that stands on its own two feet based on its own merits and not some pre-rendered cutscene designed to hype people up as much as possible with a bunch of empty promises.

The Nintendo timeline: 1986: completely revolutionises gaming. 1998: completely revolutionises gaming. 2017: completely revolutionises gaming.

It has been six years... And the game still holds up. Even with TOTK out, this game is still amazing

You remember all those quotes about Miyamoto messing around in his backyard as a kid, exploring tiny caves and climbing trees and finding cool rocks? I feel like this is _the game_ where he truly shares that experience with us.

I would do anything just to play this game for the first time again

The "Open Your Eyes" still sends chills down my spine. Incredible memories playing this for the first time on my brand new Switch in my upstairs bedroom loft, alone and happy and lost in adventure.

This trailer is special, it is calm, slow, beautiful and suddenly it is epic, with so much new things going on. I think it perfectly describes the game. Just by watching it you can tell how well the world is crafted, every hills and and every puddles, nothing is here without a reason.

One of the few cases where the trailer is actually representative of the actual game in terms of gameplay and graphics

Breath of the Wild is where I go to explore a more peaceful and simple world, Tears of the Kingdom is where I go to tape a Korok to a wooden cross, set it on fire, shoot it into the air with rockets and then watch it explode midair like some gruesome firework. Pretty neat balance

I'd love to just see a hinox walking around and not having to activate it. Also, they left out the yiga clan member appearing every two seconds when you're just trying to explore and enjoy the environment.

All the people complaining about graphics is just Wind Waker repeating itself. I know Sony and Microsoft are pushing great graphics but Nintendo's philosophy has mainly been: Gameplay > Graphics

Its just amazing this game is now 7 years old.. With an amazing sequel. It just doesnt feel like its been that long since this game came out.

I still think this trailer is superior to the 2017 one. Not only because I love the main theme but it captures better what Botw is about: a vast world to explore with beautiful landscapes, the sounds of nature and a minimalist and peaceful music

Never in my life have I played a game so brilliant as this. The music, especially being on top of the towers, resonates with me so deeply. This game is sacred to me.

The trailer for BotW 2 was extremely dark... and I thoroughly enjoyed it. So glad that BotW is getting the Majora's Mask treatment. :DDDDD

"Open your eyes" to people who complain about the graphics of the game.

Whats absolutely incredible about this trailer/the game itself is that, in most trailers like this, they're just animations that aren't anything close to the actual gameplay. But in this trailer, everything, the sounds, the atmosphere, the lighting, the animals, the gameplay, the graphics, everything is footage pulled straight from the game. Even the music. And that, my friends, is what makes Breath of the Wild the greatest and most breathtaking video game in existence.

After playing this game, I thought no game could ever top it in a lifetime. I was proven wrong when Tears of the Kingdom released.

My only problem with Breath of the Wild is that it ruined every other open world game for me

Reflecting back, I am so glad my parents started me on the systems in order. I got to experience almost every zelda game in order (apart from a few gameboy and DS games) so that BOTW and TOTK could be experienced in the fullest. Best game franchise of all time. The music is what really brings it home for me, they cared SO MUCH about staying true to the games original themes and incorporated new styles BEAUTIFULLY. I just wish I could go back and experience them all over again like playing them for the first time.

Still here 5 years later. I can't believe how time goes by... I was 17 years old when this came out, and I sold a lot of my old Wii games (not thru gamestop, lol) so I could have enough to buy the Switch and Zelda on launch day. I even made sure to count taxes so I had EXACTLY enough to buy it. It might sound sad, but this is probably the happiest memory of my life. I can't wait for the sequel.

Now that we near the release of Tears of the Kingdom, I have to say, this is probably my favorite of the trailers for Breath of the Wild. The story trailer is amazing in its own right, but the sheer wonder that this trailer beholds is something that always makes me want to pick up the game again and get lost in the beautiful world of Hyrule.

So we have like... less than a month till tears. so if u see this within that timespan, cool.

I played this game during the pandemic lockdown, it used to be so depressing staying put at home away from the world for months. I generally didn't enjoy open-world games due to their non-linear story, and I had never played any Zelda game before, but I decided to give this a shot nonetheless. The first few hours were okay, but before I knew it I didn't even realize how hooked I was to its beautiful world. Literally, there are so many secrets, so much to do, so many little villages that legit felt like home, the warm music around certain parts, and the joy of finding the tents of travelers at unexpected places. I cannot tell you how this game saved me from depression during the lockdown, and how I still haven't found a replacement to this epic.

Why are they calling it Breath of the Wild? It should be called Game of the Year

Every time I watch this trailer, it never fails to make me tear up. The music, scenery, story, mechanics, everything... out of all the LoZ I've played, or rather the games I've played in my entire life so far, this has been by far one of the best gaming experiences. And now, it's 2022. BOTW 2 will be released this year, and I absolutely cannot wait to breathe in this wild world again.

I love people saying that this isn't Zelda. Zelda 1 was open world too, folks.

A week after totk released people seem to already forget how big and impactful botw was. Botw walked so totk could run, never forget that its thanks to this masterpiece we got totk

Honestly I think no company will ever come even remotely close to the masterpieces that Nintendo creates. Their (major) games are consistently fun or amazing. I believe that gameplay and music > graphics in every case.

Its weird going back to early trailers after pouring a couple hundred hours into the final game. You notice the subtle differences here and there, and you get those weird memories of being exited for the day you finally get to play it. You recall all the weird speculation that was floating around at the time. Its just fun to remember and think about.

6 years later and still the best game I have ever played. The music, the gameplay, the progression. Every aspect is perfection❤️
