Best returners are also often the ones who conceeds the most aces because part of the reason they return so well is that they anticipate more than others... meaning that a slight misread is more likely to lead to an ace, although generally speaking they're on the ball earlier, allowing them to hit better returns btw these aren't my words but it's from a tennis expert a while ago, I think at the time he was referring to Davydenko and Ferrer
@kh2freek

@@clemchar6615 Davydenko and Ferrer were great returners for guys under 6ft, because they anticipated well and were aggressive. Quarter Final, Center court, against the 8th ranked player in the world at the time, can’t remember his name unfortunately. Federer just served, ace. Served, ace. Served, volley. Served, the opponent put it in the net. That game lasted a minute and a half or so. He then proceeded to send a ball to the young dude in charge of carrying them on the other side of the court. Federer was thinking and focusing, looking down towards the ground, when he hit that ball with his racket. That ball arrived in the young guy’s hand perfectly. He didn’t have to move. Roger hadn’t even looked at were he had thrown that ball. I was a young teenager back then, and will remember this very moment my entire life. The worst thing is: It always looked so classy and effortless… Making it look easy…
