In a server where I was, 4 of these bot accounts joined. Not even like 3 days later 4 of the servers mods got banned for "being underage", which definitely wasnt true. The account deletions only stopped after the bots were kicked, so maybe theyre mass report bots?

This reminds me of a time when I noticed something possibly similar happening on UKposts. Generated or hacked accounts would go on popular videos, such as MrBeast's videos, and type out quotes. The quotes didn't make any sense but they were structured the same way. I lost my screenshots of them a while back, but some examples I made just now, so you understand what I mean: "The great gelatinous dolphin climbs the orange spotted tree. Big, lovely ectoplasm." "The scary mountain-filled spaghetti mirrors an unusual green elephant. Monstrous, plentiful orangutang." Just one per comment, and the accounts looked generated like this Discord thing. I never got an answer for this though.

Been dealing with these for a while now :) Glad to see it being covered by you now, nice to have confirmation of what they are. We weren't sure if they were raiders setting up an attack, just plain bot accounts, or what, so this video was really helpful.

Unless I've understood it wrong. Couldn't you set a notification category that is literally called "Tick this field to be kicked from the server." Have said role be the sole role access to a channel and just have a filtered list of who to kick? Or just have a bot auto kick said role.

If you can't purge them because they're busy, just use a script with a filter function. Set up Filters that only Catch these bots (by requiring specific conditions) and do a foreach loop that kicks them

Watched this video, checked my discord and found a bunch of them. But I found a more effective solution it seems, to join my discord you have to react to a message and it seems that none of the bots did this, meaning I could simply look through all the people who haven't reacted and look for those silly quotes. Hopes this helps anyone who this is a serious problem for!

8:00 another idea here is to add a specific role telling members not to click or they get kicked, so when the bots select the role, you will be sure the bots are the only one with the role that are being kicked

Spent the morning trying to figure out who or what these accounts were that joined my server last night. Put them in discord jail (channel I made) and started asking my community the same questions. Later in the day I noticed you had a new vid out... started watching and said "Hey! these are the same accounts in my server!". Just wanted to thank you. Your channel has really up'd my discord game. Found your channel after I got raided one time and it nearly destroyed my server! Never again with Wick and Beemo credit to you for getting those vids out too!

Hello I am a mod in an art server and we’ve had a lot of issues with people with quotes on new accounts joining the server. We have an into system in place to verify users upon joining which avoids allowing these bots from staying, and users are kicked after a few days if not posting an intro. This video is very helpful to the staff team, thank you very much for it, we’re not sure what they’re for as none of our members have reported being DMed by them, and the channels visible to unverified members are limited. We’re guessing it’s for NFT reasons, as earlier stated, and the bots are just there to increase member count. Most of the bots we get go inactive within the first 15 ish minutes of joining, and half the time show as mobile users when online. Don’t know if this information will help, but I’ll give it to you anyway 😂

7:52 A good trick could also be to make a role and option that people shouldn't click. Like a "DON'T CLICK THIS!" with the description as to why (That this is to catch automated accounts) and then you could purge all accounts that have this specific role. It should make it a bit easier to detect and remove automated accounts because I doubt they have a way to recognize specific options and even then they couldn't reconize all the possible namings there are.

Bro, that's exactly what I've noticed in my server. A ton of accounts with weird profile pictures, weird names and some random quote from some unknown person have been joining my server for a few months now and it's really weird. I haven't really looked at the join dates, but the most recent one joined Discord on April 9th, 2023 (which is the server join date shown on the video). Very weird.

Id like to say something. Some of these bots can be used for raiding discord servers. I know someone who owns a token shop and raiding tool and these bots that are joining with these bios are normally just tokens either used to nitro snipe, or raid a server. If its a lot of them joining, its probably a raid. The reason why they stay is most of the time because the raider gets too lazy to make them leave after either a failed or successful attempt and just leaves them in the server.

I got no idea what I'm saying but could you use the role select system as a type of verification, if they don't select the right one it just kicks them from the server or moves them to a channel for further verification?

I made an alt account similar to this one last month so I could join more servers (I'm too poor to buy nitro). I found a random quote on Google and placed it into my bio. I just thought that was cool haha. Fortunately, none of the servers I've joined have banned me. Maybe I should change my bio before admins and mods see this video and ban me. lol

I don't know if it's the same situation I've been having but there are A LOT of bots in a server with the discord avatars (not the discord logo ones) and one asked me rll personal information.

there is another thing you can do with the roles people can assign make a verification quesiton that if one presses no they will receive a blacklist role which will give them access to 1 (usually an explanation channel for if its a mistake and a genuine user) or no channels

Pruning does nothing (unless the accounts are already banned/abandoned) because their whole point is to actively read messages. So if they are offline how are they supposed to do their job at sniping links? Also, having multiple accounts per server is stupid when It comes to sniping since you receive all messages from all (visible to you) channels from all servers at all times. Using more than one account per server is just wasteful IMO. So there might be more stuff that's happening here.

A really good way to find these bots is by putting a role that literally says "Don't click if you're not a bot" and just hope that no idiot clicks it. and when someone does get the role you can just kick them or message them and then kick them. It's very easy to spot them with that.

It could be that, or it could be a metadata scraper, if it gets data about all servers it has data about who is in what servers, you can then literally search for user id and find stuff like all their friends, all their past usernames, what servers they are in, etc.

I have an idea, make an actual verification chat instead of reaction rules make a channel where someone has to verify if they are not a bot, when they are done a mod or higher has to give them the role to have access to the rest of the server except moderators only channels.

A way around the pruning is to just have one called "do not select, bots only" or something. The bots will click it obviously, and you can kick anyone who has the role linked to that selection

It would also be useful to add a role thats called something like *do not pick this role, you will be kicked* so when these accounts pick all the roles when joining theyll also pick that one so you can differentiate them from the crowd (since if a real person reads the name of the role they would just not pick it, unless theyre trying to see if it would actually get them kicked)

these are 100% nitro snipers but also they might be logging accounts to ready for a mass spam of a scam, most bots will just do it when they join as there are many people in it but they could just wait a while then do it get as much as they can. there is a chance they not even made those accounts as tokens sell for as little as 0.05 usd per account

I don't know how relevant it is but I find it interesting that these "quote" discord bots started popping up at the same time I started getting mass spambot followers (like 50 in about two weeks) on reddit whose only activity are a single quote posted in a random quote subreddit.

In one server im in one of the onboarding tasks is "DO NOT CLICK" to filter out bots who auto select them all to easily filter them out

also you could set in the screening thing a thing that if you select it, you either get kicked, banned, or timed out.. actually idea: 1. time out 2. staff contacts you 3. if you dont answer in time, kick 4. if you do it an amount of time (that the owner sets it to) you get banned and if it happens over and over again or a raid is happening, it just doesnt let you join until its over (using timeout, probably, with a discord bot that you dm so you could still join) why not just ban? there are idiots who would still click it even if they arent a bot, or at least not that kind of bot.

So what's strange is yesterday my bio got randomly changed to "Don't Touch what isn't yours." Which was confusing because I didn't switch it to that

I moderate two fairly large servers (one @ ~30k users, the other @ ~680k) and I've known about these bots for a while but we just got two reports of spam promotional DMs coming from these accounts so I'm trying to sift through our user list to get rid of them. Right now I have our bot combing the whole userlist and adding a unique role to any user who created their account on March 25th and hasn't send a message in the server. The first server only found 3 people, and only one of those was a bot. The second server found 909 users and is currently adding the role now. I'm gonna be combing through this one for a while. EDIT1: Upon checking again the spam DM might not have come from one of these accounts. Too late now though, I'm still scouring the server list. Also, I definitely just removed one that was "Online" and not DND.

Just make at the start of the Server they select everything right? Than make one that is like giving you a role where you basically have no acces to the Server And they will just still wait for one (Tell me if it doesnt works

i just had an idea.. create an onboard option that only those bots choose (since they choose everything) and everyone who gets that role will be banned in the next 10-30 minutes after they choose it

8:16 another way is to set a bot trap role where it tells people to not give themselves said role but since bots are dumb and give themselves everything they give themselves the trap role so you just kick everyone with the trap role

The guy amvast who made that token logger, put a stealer called "hazard stealer" in it, which essentially takes EVERYTHING from your computer; Chrome sign ins, opera sign ins, minecraft accounts, roblox accounts ect. So thats another reason to not download token generators

Or you can just put an option on the onboarding thing to be 'I am a bot', obviously, if someone who clicks it is not a bot, they're stupid and can just rejoin it, and since the bots choose all the options, this is an easy way to intercept most bots before they even come.

Invite tracker really helps there. Our invite link is published only on one of these "Catalogue" type servers. You know, the server where you can find other servers. If account joins by this invitation link I''m just checking our shared server. If there's no catalogue in list I'm just banning the acc.

I think its just the COD devs seeing which new historical quote is the most well recieved so they can put it in their next cod game death text.

My account look like one of those bot accounts but it's real, I've been in the account for 3 years and I like to keep my setting as invisible because people keep disturbing me so if I joined your server I would likely be viewed as he bot just because I have a quote and it's not online because I'm invisible. Therefore not everyone that has a quote and not online are Bots there are some people that are really like that.

I had 5 accounts simultaneously join my server at the same time. one of them DM'd me saying: " I'm a graphic designer do you want any type of GFX stuff including ( 2d, 3d character, Logo, Overlay, Screens, Animations, Emotes and more) In less cost, would you like to see some of my work?" and then were VERY insistent IN the DMs to want me to request their service. There are TOO many "art account" spams going around, it's an absolutely digital pandemic

Add a button to the welcome page that says "click to get banned". It gives you a role that tells mods / automod or whatever to ban you.
