In this part of crossing the Cameroon - Central African Republic border, I get myself into trouble. The rain made some stretches of jungle very, very slippery, and I crash hard. I can't believe that the start button of my motorcycle broke off in the crash!! Everything adds up, and I end up riding in the jungle in the dark still... I need to find a place to stay the night QUICK!

I was born and raised in Africa. I left Africa when I was 25. I’m now 47. I’ve lived and travelled around the world in 13 countries for the last 22 years. Europe, North America, and Asia. Everywhere I go, and I really mean everywhere, Everybody talks about how backward Africa is, and how stupid the people are. They talk about Africa been this hell hole. They make so much fun of Africa. Many people don’t know I’m African because I’m not black, but it hurts me so much to my core that the people of the world most of them anyway, don’t know the true hearts of African people and how 99% of them are so kind, helpful and pleasant. Watching this video makes me proud but at the same time hurt.❤

Most people dont want to know anything other than what they have been told to think :( Itchy boots has inspired me to learn how to ride a motorbike and Africa has always called loudly to my soul so I plan to make it there and meet all of the incredible people there who have hearts open instead of too much of the western world has closed their hearts and forgotten they have a soul and only want to know what they can get from other people.

I find that sad to hear. I’m British, have travelled to every continent (except Antarctica) and live in Asia. I have never felt anything close to the feeling I got in Africa anywhere else. It was a sense of being where I was supposed to be. From the animals to the people to the red earth, I loved my time there and have told my 7 year old daughter all about it and we plan to visit together one day. The hard part is choosing where as there are so many countries I wish to see. Be rightly proud.

How wonderful that so many people are so kind and welcoming all along these journeys. I'm heartened at it all, in all the series. I get it about the scenery too - the difference between what our eyes see and what the camera records. I imagine that what you actually see is ten times more spectacular than what we get to see (which is spectacular too, of course). But as an occasional solo tourer, I get a bit sad when I exclaim to myself in my helmet at a wondrous scene that can't be shared in the moment. My last trip was taken with my partner, and it struck me then how awesome it was to say to him, 'Oh wow! Look at that!!!', and get a reply because he was seeing it as gloriously as I was. So when you say 'Look at that', or 'Oh wow!' I know it's a lot better from your eyes than your camera. I rarely comment, but I have to say that your courage, endurance and fantastic attitude are things to be truly admired. Congratulations and all the very best for the remainder of the adventure :)

@@lf1496 I confirm what the other commenter said that the fellow did not fix the switch. However, he did something at least as valuable in the circumstances -- he took a look at this bike that was a type he surely never saw before, and after briefly attempting to reinstall the broken-off switch button, he assessed that it was not easily going to go back into place. But he understood the principle of the thing and figured out that all that was needed was a pointy object to poke the internal switch mechanism, and that would get Noraly going again. So a good solution given the conditions, and prospects for a better fix when Noraly gets to a town.
