Agree with you, they are so expensive they cost the price of some previous gen OLED 65" TV. My theory is it's more expensive over here because EU has a mandatory 2 years warranty on new product sold.The cheapest I can find here in Belgium (when available) is 1515€ (1631$). USA show prices without taxes, the highest average combined state and local sales tax rates is Louisiana with 9.86%. Which gives 1299$ + 9.86% = 1417$ Yes, that's in the most taxed states. It can go as low as 0 but that's an exception (only 4 states). Eyeballing it, the national average is around 6% or ~1 377$, so one could conclude that the ~254$ dollars difference left between me and the average US citizen, went... in a 2 years mandatory product warranty.

Regarding the "semi-gloss" screen I'd really appreciate some further information on that. My current QNIX2710 matte monitor only reflects ME and it's a super vague black silhouette. This is what I need in a monitor. I cannot have myself being reflected like in a mirror. It's super distracting and I hate it. This thing looks worryingly like it will reflect my face back at me. Should I avoid? What would be an alternative to consider with a matte coating but otherwise very similar performance and features? This is to go with a 4090 and high end i7 processor new build and I was hoping to try out 4K.

@d.s.9213
@d.s.9213 28 днів тому
@@LexLutha Yes that's what I thought. I have the UQX and it is unsurpassed in 99% of any content but the haloing in scenes with multiple small bright spots against a dark background as well as the reverse haloing in gray/foggy scenes means that immersion can be broken and the cheapest OLED could laugh in its face in certain specific scenarios. Still I am hesitant to go for the UCDM because I use my monitor (a lot) for office work as well as gaming plus I have an LG C1 as a second monitor which is absolutely fine as an OLED monitor if I want to play a game that would suffer from haloing on the UQX. I am still not convinced that the UCDM would be a good all-in-one option despite the 3 year burn-in warranty. The UQX is really sturdy and I am completely care-free displaying static content on it for hours on end, I would probably be paranoid with the UCDM. I have been using the UQX for thousands of hours of work and play and there is zero degradation in the picture, zero dead pixels, no lighbleed and excellent uniformity in a way that it makes it hard not to forgive the 1% failure in some very specific scenarios.

I rate MSI highly, after trying couple of their latest monitors. But here in central Europe, Asus and Msi have biggest taxes, and price is usually 30% higher than MSRP. I guess I will wait for Gigabyte, since Dell and Gigabyte have MSRP pricing usually here as well, but Dell is curved so I will skip it.

idk what it is, but every time I see the LG and the ASUS side by side, I like the LG more... I think it's the cool tones. The ASUS has really severe warm tones, the reds and oranges seem to be overly poppy and bleed out to other parts of the picture, but that may just be my perception. Also, I don't love the magenta/black look on QD-OLEDs. I do wish the LG had USB-C, Optical output, and KVM for the price... But they do have the best picture imo.

@MrM-dl5zm
@MrM-dl5zm 29 днів тому
because 1080p/480Hz is gimmick at best. Yeah its nice and "smoother" in motion but very blurry image and 240 Hz with instant reposne time of pixels with low input lag super clear and focused. Not to mention no burn in warranty, no usb-c, no dolby vision, no kvm, worse HDR performance with fucked up EOTF and washed out colors with matte screen that white looks grainy and overall image looks like it was smeared with "vaseline". Yes - you don't understand because you made no research.

@@MrM-dl5zm gimmick at best? the image isn't blurry unless you downscale to 24/27 inch. there IS dolby vision, there IS kvm and there IS usb c up to 90 watts, i'm guessing you had zero clue that LG weren't the only ones making a dual mode monitor as rog are aswell. with no official webpage for the PG32UCDP there isn't any way to tell if the warranty applies to burn in. once again with your lack of research the PG32UCDP doesn't have a matte coating and has much more vibrant colours than LG's monitor because of it. i really hope you dont say something stupid like "how would i know you weren't talking about the LG monitor" considering i'm comparing the PG32UCDP to the monitor in this video, made by the same company. maybe you should do your own research?

@@Hoyley It Is still blurry at 24 inch mode @ 1080p because internal would be 1660p at this size (which looks worse than 1080p@32") PG32UCDP is Asus variant with LG panel. But my stand is the same. Its gimmick feature - pros will use ELMB 500 Hz 24" inch monitors, this is oled to enjoy crystal image with perfect color accuracy and nice high lights from HDR. If you never had oled monitor before with high refresh rate, the 240 Hz is plenty ENOUGH.
