I recently discovered the Lenovo Legion Go and fell in love with its form factor. Not as small as other handhelds like the MSI Claw or the ROG Ally, and more powerful than the Steam Deck... so I bought it! Will I regret this purchase?

Recently, I picked up a Steam Deck OLED 1TB for my birthday. I have say, that thing is AWESOME. It has officially become my favorite way to play my Steam games. The Lenovo Go has a tiny bit more power in terms of fps, but its right there with the Ally. Both beat the Steam Deck, but the Steam Deck OS beats them all. It's just the deck OS is not compatible with all games, especially games with anti cheat implementations.

All these people who're sporting non Legos have no idea of the advantages of 2 type c usb's! I connect my power to the bottom using a side profile type c cable (L shape) and if you tilt using the built-in stand it gives enough clearance. I see no reason to have a dock and if I want to go full on desktop then I picked up a baseus hub with a u shape adapter that just snakes down the back side so you don't even see the cables! No UKposts video about doing it, lol! I do this with my laptop and my Metaquest 3! Best part is velcro stickons doesn't scratch! And you can peel them of If you move them around! And doesn't void the warranty! Got a 3 year warranty on mine. Was like $56.00 bucks. And it's local drop-off! Have a 4 year on my Legion laptop!

@@Longjumping-War2484 Google "Samsung T7 Shield SSD". Then you can see why the rubber bands will sit in place, unlike on the older T7 where the SSD would slide off the stand. I will swap to Velcro as it's better in the long run, thank you. They sell those here as i just checked. I prefer this external solution too so i don't need to mod anything. There is people who have swapped out the internal SSD, but some SSD's caused problems. An external USB-C SSD won't cause any problem at all, and will cause 0% extra heat on Go as it's on the kickstand. ;)

NO you didn't waste your money, you'd be surprised at the Legion Go's capabilities, but first you MUST make sure to make some important changes to your bios settings before you get into load heavy titles, to do so first press your power button when the device is off, then hold volume up, then choose bios settings, now that you're in the bios set up screen at bottom right of screen choose more settings then choose configuration, then change UMA frame buffer size to 8G, make sure maximum memory data clock speed is set to 7500 MT/S then make sure you have enabled SMT mode (multithreading mode) and lastly set you core number to 8, games will run way better because out of the box it is not set this way and you do not get its full capabilities until you make the necessary settings changes.

I agree with the comments that giving this a 1600p/144Hz screen was pointless. Very few games even at their lowest settings will be able to use resolution. It would have been much smarter to with a 1440 x 900 or even 1680 x 1050. 800p still looks acceptable on this screen. The problem with these handhelds is that people expect too much out of them. You only get an hour at max TDP, which most games don’t need. You can get 2 hours or more with lower TDP settings

The Z1 Extreme chip is just a customized 7840U and both chips really do highlight the difference between Theoretical and Real World Performance. In theory the Z1 Extreme should absolutely crush the Steam Deck, but in the Real World it trades blows and at low wattages (10W or lower) the Steam Deck absolutely crushes it. This comes from Gamers Nexus.

I have a legion go and it's amazing, I have a gaming desktop (Ryzen 7 5800X, 32GB RAM 3070 TI) and a gaming laptop ROG with a Ryzen 7 4800HS 40GB of RAM and a 1660 TI) and this just makes it so much easier to just have some fun on the go.

I’ve owned this unit since day one. absolutely love it. It had its quarks but it’s gotten better with every update. My only complaints is I wish they would’ve given rounder corners to the controllers top side.

I recently won a Legion Go 512GB, even though I never wanted a portable gaming rig in the first place. I wish the battery didn't suck as much as it does. Even in power saving mode, the battery only lasts a few hours. But games like Hades run great in power saving mode at 1080p. My PC will always be my main rig, but as someone who never saw a reason for a portable system, I'm actually enjoying it quite a bit.

Literally the first video I'm watching on my Legion Go after setting it up (@ work lol) and signing into YT lol Loving it VS my Asus TUF A16 AMD Advantage laptop. I'm 41 and it's my 1st handheld also. Glad I don't need to hunt for wall plug-ins anymore at work or while cruising. Just grabbed a 75W car charger. It's a *chungus!* Cool they don't charge for a case like Asus. Has a charging porthole in the case too! Main thing is having detachable controllers and a built-in kickstand. RGB can be turned off unlike the Ally. I'll still get that one too tbh for comparison.

I love my legion go! Got it day one preordered and it is my main pc to game on. Xbox is my go to, but this device is the perfect emulator device to carry around. It can stream without issues once you get it setup the way you like. Add a hdmi out and/or dock and it is awesome. They do sell a device to bridge the left and right controllers like a switch and you can use external gpus as well via 2-40gb ports type C

I actually did my homework on these and went with the Asus ROG Ally as it seemed to be the most rounded and from a company that does more updates in the long run. Plus they are a gaming known enthusiast backer. I am loving my Ally. Also installed Launch Box so I could use Big Box mode to launch games.

I didn't know it came with joycons. I love the ergonomics of joycons. well, the being able to use them shoulder width apart aspect, not the thin plank with nothing to grab part. they even have rear buttons, like all modern controllers _should_ have. I may have to pick up one of these to compliment my steam deck.

I bought the Rog Ally in October and believe me I played plenty of games on it and it works well in the majority of them if you put the right settings. For a handheld to be able to play AAA games at low or medium they are very good options.

There's many ways to safely get way more power from the legion go itself without an e-gpu. In the bios you can turn the igpu from 3gb to 8gb and its been running flawless. Can also turn your power usage up to the full 65 watts instead of 30, without flashing the bios there's easy to use 3rd party software for experimental use. With a simple PD dock its quite the versatile gaming PC. As someone who lives off grid & uses the Go for demanding tasks, its incredibly efficient and quite unbelievable how it competes with more expensive power hogging desktops & laptops.

I was so happy when I got this, I mainly use it as a tablet. I wanted a premium tablet with a sharp high res screen under 9" and they just don't exist on any OS until now! Those USB ports are USB4 also, do u can use an egpu! It might not be the very best gaming handheld, but it is the best all around tablet/pc/handheld.

On a side note, you can get cheap USB-c Hubs and connect keyboard to it if you are needing to use the keyboard. The hub should allow you to use one or two monitors also so it could be a great little mini pc. Just like a laptop but with more power. Also you'll find installing games faster if you can get a hub with a Network Ethernet Connection. I've found that out, wifi isn't as fast as a direct connections to the network.

To bring heat down get one to 3d print the better backplate ! and for the ssd getting hot get a slim copper heat sink on it ! i did this to mine now when gaming it run 60 to 65 on gpu/cpu and 60 tops on sdd ! The screen left corner sits right over the ssd so that corner can get really hot to the touch on the screen ! with the fix i told you thermals will come down

I have a Steam Deck (more of a Linux person) and while I'd like something a bit smaller, for handheld gaming, I actually think the Legion Go's tablet just by itself would be really useful for me. I'd never use it actually handheld (it's far too large) but as a LAN party machine with a small keyboard and mouse, that kickstand makes all the difference, and it's much more portable than a laptop.

I grew up with the Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance SP, and Nintendo DSi, but I don't know if I really want a portable PC. I got my gaming laptop like a year before the Steam Deck came out for about the same price (because it was used). For the most part I feel like I prefer having a laptop instead due to the extra screen real estate because I end up using it for watching stuff on UKposts and my Plex server more than I use it for gaming. And I'll use it for watching stuff in bed or in the basement in addition to while travelling. I only travel like a couple times a year at most for a vacation in the summer time and going to my aunt and uncle's house for Thanksgiving, plus every once in a while my sister needs me to wait at her house for the cable or HVAC guy.

I have a Legion Go. I love it. Definitely some tinkering that needs to be done at times. The software is not nearly as curated as Steam Deck or Ally. But I like the hardware is why I went with it over the others. I owned a Steam Deck and gave it away before getting my Go and I have not regretted that decision.
