14:43 the music finishing as you look all the gargantau's looking at you upset of not able to kill you off as they leave gives a sensation of epicness, as in sphanish, the chapter's title its "intruso" wich on english would be intruder, wich well, you are infact, a intruder and got just past one of the security methods of blocking any intruder into the factory as you soon see :P

The Gargantua area music is burned into my brain. There's an achievement to go through the level without taking any damage, had to replay it so many times to get it!

There's an achievement for not killing a single vortigaunt in the Interloper chapter, which unfortunately you can no longer get. The controllers (big head floaty things) are controlling the vortigaunts so you could've just killed them and the vorts would stop attacking you. Those green collar thingy that vortigaunts wear force them to do whatever the controllers or "evil Cortana voice" told them to do, that's why vortigaunts are called 'slaves'. Also imagine how cool it would be if the vortigaunts are no longer slaves and could speak English language.

Hi Juliette! 👋 It took me several watch throughs of the beginning part to realise The Vortigaunts that attacked you were being controlled by the aliens in the sky. This explains why some 'gaunts were completely passive. It was fun to see you on a speed run, albeit through neccesity to survive! 😂 I think the 'gaunts could do with some lessons in cable management! 😜😂 Gordo on hand to show them the errors of their ways! @6:28 ahh the pros and cons of save scumming, I can’t tell you how many times I have accidentally saved when I meant to load. I only wish I had clips of myself back in the day, getting extremely irked that I saved at the moment of my death in some FPS instead of reloaded. I’d also accidentally hit F6 which in adventure games usually meant resetting the game. F5 for save, F6 reset to the beginning, and F7 for reload last save.

There's an achievement for finishing Interloper without killing a single Vortigaunt. I go out of my way to do it on every playthrough even though I unlocked it on my first time playing😅

awesome Episode Juliette i remeber when saw TheVortigaunts first time i thought that they attack me like Zombies they are unpredictable It's nice to hear your voice at bedtime your voice calms me down

The Poor vortigaunts, during the beginning section, they are only attacking you because the Alien Controllers who suddenly appeared are pretty much forcing them to. if the controllers die, they stop attacking and go hide i believe. You may have figured it out, but these flying Controllers pretty much try to keep the enslaved vorts "in-line" to do their job, or attack their enemies... You can actually see glowing energy chains pretty much coming from the controllers onto the vortigaunts who are attacking you! Now that you've gotten to this place, i might as well say that we can *kinda* treat some of these enemies like their own faction at this point. You have the Xen Wildlife (headcrabs, Bullsquids, Houndeyes, Barnacles, you know, the usual.), But then you have, for lack of a better term, the Xen Military as i prefer to call them. (The enslaved Vortigaunts, The Alien grunts as the footsoldiers, The Alien Controllers as a sorta commander, The Manta rays as biological ships, and of course, the Gargantua as a large tanky soldier.) It's something you may notice even early on in the game, but the enemies who would count in my eyes as Xen Military seem to be a lot more smarter with their tactics and... in general, just smarter than the Xen Wildlife. 41:12 those are hivehands! the gun the alien grunts use, and the gun you have as well. Judging by the bodies you've seen in this chapter being naked Alien Grunts, This chapter seems to be heavily suggesting that the Alien Grunts are biologically being made here, unlike the other Xen creatures. This chapter also kinda suggested this in the original, but much less noticable. It has never been confirmed one way or the other if this is actually the case, but its accepted by most fans that this is probably what is happening here. 47:59 Well, Gordon has a PHD in Theoretical physics, not alien machinery and factory maintenance :P

9:18 well, its they are casually next door of where the vortigaunts live, considering they are slaves here Also fun fact outside of the game, if you look into the comments of the soundtrack or this part on youtube, some people joke that the woman on the soundtrack doing the chorus/scream, idk how to type it, would be gordon's screams as its being chased by all the gargantua's xD Also a fun fact that it is on game, the archievement related to this part, it only takes into account the damage you recieve from the gargantau's any other enemy damage wouldn't count on the archievement of not recieveng damage during the escape

Even knowing a bit more about the Half Life lore from having played the second entry and seen playthroughs of Opposing Force and Blue Shift, I still find myself wondering what all of the machines the Vortigaunts are being forced to work on by the Controllers here do. At least some of them seem to be used for making more of the Grunts and their Hivehand weapons, presumably for an alien army, but some of the architecture and design of the machines and structures here remind me of something else I can't talk about yet because of spoilers, and I wonder if Black Mesa's devs were alluding to any of that...

This is another impressive gameplay, Juliette 💜 oh yes, two days ago I completed CoD MW Remastered 💯.

Don't worry, the Vortigaunts are very smart. I'm sure they'll forgive you for killing a few of them when you had to.

59:34 funny thing, its easier to throw a greanade in there than do all that jumping, as there basicly no use for the greanade now in interloper xD as most enemys you face are airbone and the few alien grunts you face are to separated away and mobile that ain't worth using frags on them unless its the mp5 underbarrel greanade xD

2:58 you kinda missed the very visible "line" that connects a certain amount of vorts to a single alien controller mind controlling them, infact it shows you that before the controllers breaks the wall glass to begind the fight, giving the player time to see it, make the conection of what makes the vorts hostile and then have them either full focus on the alien controllers or kill evryone So yeah, they can't fight them either way but would not fight you if you kill the alien controllers, specially the ones already mind controlling a vortigaunt 31:55 like in here, none of the vorts attacked you until the alien controller of the back took control of two vorts, infact its shackles and eyes started to glow the moment the alien controller took control of them xd

20:48 this isn't vortigaunts tech but its made for vortigaun use as their energy attacks can be used to power up stuff and other things as they are the slave workers :P so yeah it ain't their doing, only the houses on the village its their work

The flying ones are called alien controllers, they are like the security guards of the place. But they don't help out the vortigaunts, instead they control them! So not like black mesa cool security guards. Xen evil guards! Think of vortigaunts as slave workers! (Also slave soldiers sometimes) The cool thing about half-life/black mesa, is that each chapter feels different because it has its own gimmick, so it doesn't get stale. Also Half-Life has great pacing, it's not constant combat, it sometimes has puzzles, or the player has to run, or simply just to take a breather and looks at a set piece! Half-Life 2 expands on this gimmick thing. About Half-Life 2, there is some things I want to add about my previous recommendations. You will be confused about whats happening. Just like black mesa, the characters will tell you about the main plot of the game, and don't worry you won't miss about them. Also about background stuff about the world you need to find out yourself, basically into how the world looks, how npcs look, and stuff written. So have fun figuring out and connecting the dots!

All intelligent life on Xen have that third arm, take a closer look at Vortigaunts and Alien Controllers - they have it too

The gonarchs give birth to the head crabs. The smaller headcrabs are head crab babies. The vortigaunts manufacture/biologically-engineer the alien grunts as you can see. Something Black Mesa tried to imitate looking way back.

Xen feels different because it was redesigned from almost scratch. The original Xen is vastly different (and shorter). Btw, it looks like you didn't notice the green enery line between the Controllers and the Vortigaunts whenever the Vorts attacked you.

3:40 vortigaunts are mind-controlled by that flying a-holes, by the way. If you delete those, vort's would stop attacking you.
