Great video thanks for the huge effort in getting this out so early. We are a couple of weeks into the ownership of a series 2, hull 56 in fact. A couple of things you mention, engines are available from 200 to 250 hp… we have the 225 hp option and I cannot imagine more would be needed for our style of boating but has they say there isn’t a horsepower that isn’t a good one. I can report with 19 hours in with these engines we get what appears to be improved economy over that reported for the series 1, about 62 l/hr at 22 knots. We do a lot of slow motoring and get about 9 l/hr at 6 knots. Maybe worth mentioning lot the small storage space for the cooktop and sink corian covers, it’s a shelf above the rubbish bin. One big difference is in the layout of the water systems. The hot water tank is under the front bed, the sea cock for the blackwater macerator is easily accessible now under the floor in the front cabin. The rear conversion to a bed no longer needs a steel supporting frame, the table now fits perfectly. This is a huge saving in what you need to store as that steel frame is no longer used. Lots to commend in the thought put into the series 2. TonyW

HI Tony, Thanks for the insight. Wow that is a great improvement in the water system. No one mentioned that when we went through. Also clever work on the day bed out the back. Good to see that efficiency turn out, as the serie 2 is carrying a bit more weight! Hoping to get it out on the water one day. Thanks

Thanks to you both for another great video. One big thing you didn’t mention is the huge increase in price for what is , after all a few minor tweaks.!!! With the exception of 250 hp engines and ( if you want it) joystick control. Sadly - in the UK - days when you can loll around on the foredeck with an awning are few and far between. Likewise cooking with the rear door open - in order to use the extended table! Is never going to happen.I agree with Brooke that the loss of the side storage box in the cockpit is not a good modification unless you fish. The cupboards above the galley are a great addition.I think they have also added a FW gauge in the rear cabin? Not sure. So all in all still a great boat but at a much higher purchase price. So very pleased I bought my 895 series one when I did and still think your 895 - with all your great editions is a fantastic craft and great value for money.

Thanks so much John. As we said some of the changes especially around the galley we don't think are the best. Storage is always an issue on these pocket cruisers so every nook and cranny needs to be used. We'll be sticking with the series 1 for now. Is you boat back in the water???

Very nice and thanks for the walkthrough. I would like to have seen the windless but it was out of shot. Oh well, I'm stuck with my Series 1 for now.

Just putting the full walk through video together now. I'll ensure there are some windless shots in there. The big change is that the windlass is not under a hatch so can release the anchor from the helm without issue.

Buttons at the helm are in a new place 2 😊 pricewise.. its also a big change i think 🙈 nice video, keep it up 👍🏻 (mf 795s2 owner)

I totally forgot about the rocker switches and I hate the position on the serie 1 as you hit them with you knee. Thanks for the pickup. The price has changed as well but it moves so much with dealers worldwide and with the different options it is difficult to really discuss price. Thanks for the comments.

The best vid I’ve seen on the series 2 comparison :) I would love to know more about the new hull. I’m surprised that they found it worthwhile to change the mould. You say “more bulbous, more volume, more efficient planing” - which to me means 🤭 Happy to be corrected..

Thanks Phillip, I'm hoping to get an on-water test someday. Yes I don't think this is meant for big offshore seas.

We have had the series 2 for 19 hours of driving and that has included some travel in open waters off an area called lion island near Pittwater in Sydney. The swells were a meter to a meter and a half and we were doing up to 28 knots. I’d rate the hull highly for the size of the vessel, slamming was not an issue for the hull, something which we have found uncomfortable in similar conditions on 32 foot cruisers primarily designed for offshore work (eg Riviera offshore 3000 series 2 was much more uncomfortable). Of course there is a big difference in most boats as the swell size increases and we haven’t had much experience with real seas yet. One thing I was also surprised by was control and feel with a following swell, very much felt in control. As we are planning to use this boat for whale watching off Sydney and the season is about to start, I’ll try and update this forum on our experiences. One thing I can report is how fast the boat is… riding some swells I turned to my wife who was driving and said “you know you are doing 28 knots”… she didn’t! There was plenty left in the engines rev range - this is a fast vessel with the 225 Hp mercury engines. TonyW

Actually watched your vids for 2 years or so, recon i should sub to help you out a bit. Love how you showcase a boat i hope I can aquire in the future. But how does it handle in close quarters like a marina?
@TheRudder
@TheRudder 11 днів тому
Thanks Peter. The 895 is quite shallow in the water and does have a fair amount of windage BUT you do have two motors and a bow thruster AND this version has joystick control. I feel fairly comfortable in a marina but as always we need to be very aware if the wind is up.

Likewise, the rudder helped us make the purchase decision and we are very appreciative. In terms of close handling, it’s very good, am getting used to the slow grip in reverse compared to our previous shaft drives but overall handling could not be easier, we rarely use the thruster. Anyone with outboard experience will likely have no issues. When we picked our boat up it was moved out from the dock for us by someone who had half a meter of clearance front and stern… I’m not that good yet but I’m practicing!

We have the series 1 and the series 2 is about $100,000 more than we paid. Yikes... I know the joystick adds but wow. I do like the bigger engines and that adds to the cost as well. Nice walk through, thank you for doing it.
@TheRudder
@TheRudder 12 днів тому
Thanks, yes there is a bit of a cost jump, but lots of toys attached. Sticking with our serie1 for now as well.
