I agree that The Weeknd did this, but to say he's the only artist to release an artistically compelling album this year puts aside a lot of great, creative artists. Perhaps in mainstream your statement is correct, but to name a few, I urge you to listen to Michael Kiwanukas latest album KIWANUKA, released late last year. Also, The Slow Rush by Tame Impala is a fantastic album, as is Fetch the Bolt Cutters by Fiona Apple. Good music is out there, if you feel the charts are lacking as I often do, have a dive into the richness of artists who release music for musics sake, you won't be dissapointed. Much love :)
