I think that every Trilogy mixtape shows a stage in Abel's belief in true love. House Of Balloons is where he is at his most optimistic since it was his 1st tape and he had just turned 21. He believed that he could get away with a lot but that all came crashing down when he was cheated on in "The Knowing". Thursday exhibits The Weeknd trying to get past that funk by using his new fame and having a woman for every day of the week and warning the women involved that he is not the type to fall in love with. In the process he grows a soft spot for "Valerie" and genuinely feels remorse for his actions even though he feels like a god. In EOS we see The Weeknd past the idea of true love. He is disappointed with how his past relationships have played out and can see how future ones will. He sees through all the women around him and uses their last for his fame and fortune to get what he wants. Echoes Of Silence and Till Dawn provide a resolution to the whole saga by leaving an ambiguous situation where we do not know who experienced more pain. The Weeknd or the women he got involved with?
