*HISTORY:* Grant Thompson was a huge inspiration for me. I started watching him when he only had about 100k subscribers, while I was still working in Toronto. I saw his channel grow, and it gave me the confidence that it's possible to make it work on UKposts. I even reached out to him selfishly asking for a shout-out to help my channel... he replied very politely, telling me to focus on my content, and the audience will follow. It was great advice. I learned a lot about making videos from watching his channel. From using b-roll, to planning out content, to summarizing it and keeping the audience wanting more. I kept my head down and kept working on the channel, and years later, in 2018, he texted me out of the blue. "Hey, it's Grant Thompson -- your projects are awesome. We should talk". I was star struck. Sure we had a few million subscribers, and some cool projects under our belt. But recognition from the King of Random himself? Who had just cracked 10M subscribers on UKposts!? At first I didn't even believe it was him -- but it was. We started texting on a regular basis, and a few months later, he came to visit -- which is this video here. The first 30 seconds of this video really tells the story of why it's hard to be a UKpostsr. Later that year, I had a chance to go down to Utah and visit him. We just hung out -- no collab, no videos, no work. We talked about UKposts, our businesses, making videos, and we learned more about his process that he had refined so well to allow him to produce 5 videos a week. I learned so much from him. He was becoming my mentor for all things UKposts and business related. In my eyes, he had succeeded at everything -- he had built a sustainable business that didn't require him to work 80 hours a week anymore, he had built a great team, and he started making time for his family his forgotten hobbies, and his other passions. I aspired to have that kind of success. As you know, he passed away later that summer. It really hit me hard. He had succeeded in every sense of the word. The only consolation was he had managed to spend the past year or two doing what he loved. Spending time with his family, traveling, exploring his old hobbies and passions, and learning new things. I like to think he lived more than most people do in their entire lives, but it was still far too short of a life for such an amazing person. I really miss him. The world misses him. Rest in peace, Grant Thompson -- the King of Random, and the King of UKposts.

James you're a hard worker and the real deal. Thanks for all the inspiration you shared with me during my brief visit back to Canada.
