Last year I found out the wife and I had to move in with her mother. So, I spent a total 12k and built a 10×20 bungalow in her back yard. Took 3 months. One 25 amp inlet powers everything. Fridge, stove, water heater, incinerator toilet...best money and best work I've ever invested, as living in the in laws house would have been a nightmare.

@@wesscotchdog9078 Just kidding, @wesscotchdog. I know what it's called: it's called love.(🤫) It's what my family did for their elders. It's what you joyfully do for your children, and it feels like a priveledge because from the second that they're born, you love them overwhelmingly fiercely and protectively. We don't think twice about it, just do it, as your wife and you did. Wise to put your own space on their property. An incinerating toilet should replace every septic tank in the US. the tiny home is practical but here in the US it’s met by resistance and regulations. government wants taxes and if the tiny home can’t be taxed then the tiny home is not permitted. i live in california and i believe there are only two official sites that are truly tiny home communities. one in San Diego up in the mountain area and one in northern california along the delta. i do love the tiny home concept because i’m a senior citizen and i don’t need a lot of space. still searching for something like what you’ve shown on your video. thanks !! show more please😊

A good solution for areas were a disaster happened and temporary housing is in need. For cramped cities the micro apartment movement might be a better solution. We had an investor building a bigger housing complex (360 units) with multiple micro apartments - 17, 20 or 23 square meter in size (comes with kitchenette, build in closet, bathroom, table, chairs, bed, seats) free community area, gym, shared work space and they were rented out in no time. A bit pricey but not as expensive as the usual apartments.

One of the common features I've always loved about Japanese bathrooms is how the toilet and bath are in separate rooms, so no stinking the room up when someone is relaxing in the bath. And the fact they kept that feature in one of these particularly tiny, tiny houses. Love it.
@Xubuntu47
@Xubuntu47 8 місяців тому
Yes, RainmakeR_Workshop, that just jakes sense. The British also traditionally separated bathing from excreting. A "bathroom" in Britain means a room with a bathtub, a "toilet" means a room with a toilet. The Japanese take it two steps further, by allowing one to wash outside the already filled tub, then soak that freshly washed body in clean hot water. Step two, the tubs are deep enough to soak, sitting upright, up to the shoulders at least. Some of the modern Japanese prefab "unit baths" do not have the sepatate drain for washing, and may also contain the toilet and bath in the same room, yuck. We can get Japanese style ofuro baths in the US, but here they are super expensive and require a lot of room.

Makes it easier to wash, then soak. Also safer for the elderly or disabled because there's nothing to climb over to shower. Most of the hits were in the UK, almost nothing Stateside. I guess wet rooms are a thing there.

I grew up in a rather large house, additions made over the years by preceding generations of my family, and now that I'm in the no-longer-young category and have arthritis and some heart trouble that family house would be far too much for me. One of these Japanese tiny homes would be great for me. I think I and many others would be able to live alone for longer times and with less need for assistance. One change I would need is a bed that's at a "regular" Western height because of the difficulty gettting to a standing position from at or near floor level. I'm going to be looking at my studio apartment in a different way.

These are so versatile and cosy. A single person with a "simple life" in mind could thrive in a small home like this. Here in Sweden we are now allowed to build "Attefallshus" (Attefall House) with I THINK little or no planning but they are bound by 30 square meters in size. You can cram a lot into that! Many people build them in their backyard or side driveway and rent them out to people or run them as a AirBnB.

I'd get claustrophobia living in that tiny space. It would be okay for a holiday or short stay but I don't think I'd want to live there long term. It's a great option for elderly people and housing for the unhoused but I think most people would want to live in a bigger place.

Maui victims really need these tiny house asap so they can put these tiny house on their land so they can get back on their feet, keep working and save enough money to rebuild their houses. This is probably the quickest way for temporary solution so they keep those disgusting investors from to grab the native’s land for dirt cheap! It’s just my thought.

Every bit of space is utilized in these small houses. And, unlike NYC apts. when you open the appliance doors, they don't bang into something on the opposite side of the room...lol. Nice looking out into nature instead of a building airshaft. Cash, your videos are the greatest !! And, of course Violet looks as adorable as always, she is growing up to be quite the little lady, so sweet.

@@emusaurus those are already popping up in most cities, they are called homeless encampments. This if allowed in certain areas or as backyard mother-in-law / grandma suites would be advantageous for young people right out of college.
