I remember my ESL US history teacher telling us day one that he does his job because it pays him money. Not because of his unconditional love of children or something…but money. Turned out to be one of the best teachers I’ve ever had. Definitely not the nicest, but man he taught us English so fast that people who were practically mute in the beginning got to talking in class by the end of the year. His homework wasn’t really demanding but it was exceptionally effective at capturing the material and shoving into the thickest skulls. Rules were simple and clear. Turn homework on time (but you had 2 late homework chances with some point reduction), be quiet during his lectures, and ask questions if you don’t understand something. He was very patient and would explain the same thing 10 times if necessary, very adamant about his rules, but also extremely fair. Shoutout to Mr. Angel. Thank you for your help)

My maths teacher was like this. He clearly didn't want to be there and we weren't even badly behaved kids.

Absolutely. Especially when you graduate from a trade school and go to try and find a job that you studied for. Then literally all employers say “oh you have to have at least one year of experience”. Well Karen, how am I supposed to get the experience required if nobody will give me experience? 😮

I have never once seen or heard of anyone like this getting hired. That's not to say that there aren't terrible teachers, but the hiring process isn't comparable to a part time job at an ice cream parlor.

@@LilBigHuge my state has removed almost all requirements to be hired since we have such a teach shortage. And I already had people like in the skit as substitutes 10 years ago when I was in high school.

Well, he’s actually seen children before, he’s not a felon and nobody else applied. Since he doesn’t have credentials, we’ll make him vice principal until we can get him accredited. It’ll be easier once he’s already in the district.
