I am pleased to see your review of the Chiron. I love Anycubic, despite the silly name. I've had several Anycubic printers, a Mingda Rock Pro 3 and a Tevo Little Monster. The Tevo and Mingda were for specific projects and I considered them 'consumable' items like drill-bits, band-saw blades, glue or taps. Anycubic, I consider to be a good screw-driver! Anycubic: My first three were i3 Mega (wore the first one out, an upgrade 'ooops' killed the second one, gave away the third one to a kid getting started) Had one of their larger Kossel designs, don't recall the name. Wore out the push-rod bearings in a short time, junked it. i3 Mega X was the last Anycubic I had for a while. I like the tri-gorilla controller; Arduino and me go way back, so I have been 'tampering' with Marlin 2.0 firmware...fun! Tevo: Little Monster: it worked, project was completed, donated printer to school. It must have been a decent printer; I can't think of any 'gotcha' moments. Mingda: Favorite printer in terms of 'gadgeteering', least favorite to use. I invested so much effort getting it to work right, I hated scrapping it. I will setting up a brand new (third revision?) Anycubic Chiron next week. Got another big project; an AX2 hard-suit, which by crazy coincidence is my own design. search "ax2 hard suit stl files", hosted on Prusa. Hey, I might need a home for the Chiron when I am done in a few months...know anyone in Western Washington? In under four years I've gone through about >75 pounds of PLA and PETG...printers come to me to get worked to death!

Bought the Anycubic Photon S last week. Its great for printing out minatures like warhammer 40k stuff, but the printing base plate is the size of an iPhone. So I decided to buy this printer so i can print buildings and larger terrain. Should receive this next week in the mail. Very excited!

A good printer for sure, the Ultrabase is a fantastic print surface, clean off with window cleaner and it works a treat. The Titan clone extruder however, is garbage and causes all sorts of extrusion issues, especially on longer prints, I swapped mine for a genuine E3D Titan. Totally agree on bed levelling, I fit a hardened 0.6mm nozzle to avoid needing to change it often.

yeah, i'd imagine a genuine e3d would be much better.

How far out from the front and back does the build plate move when it's printing all the way out to the ends? It looks like it pulls the top/bottom to the middle, so do you need to allow an extra 200 mm if it'll be near a wall?

Ok, for understanding of the 115-230 v switch. If you are in a 115 area and you power it up on 230, nothing will be damaged, ever. If you are in a 230 area and you have it set to 115, you can destroy all you electronics. All of it.

Incorrect. You can destroy your power supply even if you're in 110 and choose 230.

i know i'm a bit late to the game here. But just got my chiron. best advice i can give on bed leveling this thing is: - scrap the auto leveling, it simply doesnt work - for the manual bed leveling i had to make it really tight, like so tight to the point that i couldn't move the paper without leaving a mark....then when i went to print it was the perfect distance away.....a bit different to other printers i have used, but after a couple of attempts at manual bed levelling i got it right.

when you run out of filament, do you remove whats remaining and put in a new roll or do you stick the new roll to push the remaining? would that work? i've never tried.
@SgtWesterJJ
@SgtWesterJJ 2 роки тому
I always remove that remaining length of filament. Why risk ruining a print over 2 feet of plastic. There are tutorials out there on how to melt 2 filament ends together, but theres a risk hardened plastic clogging up the extruder. Pause print, remove filament, new filament in, manually force a little through to ensure extruder is primed, collect extruded plastic and resume print. Victory sauce.

Have you had any issues with suddenly stopping in the middle of a print and cutting off all heat?
@VortexMotiveVision
@VortexMotiveVision 3 роки тому
Mine did this on my first print. I was printing from a gCode on the sdcard, but also had it connected to the PC with the USB cable. I loaded up Cura in the middle of a print job, and it must have sent some kind of signal over the USB which caused the existing print job to suddenly stop, and the hot end and bed to cool down. Hitting the resume button on the printer did nothing, and I was forced to start the job again. Quite annoying. But, I know now not to have the printer plugged into the computer during a job. I'm just going to transfer the gCode to the sdcard, and use the printer as a standalone unit, until I can figure out a solution. Will be lodging a ticket with Anycubic. That said - The printer is phenomenal! This is my first printer, and I'm already getting great prints from it with no previous experience. I found the manual bed levelling to be really simple. Five points, and it's working really well.

I hope you can help me with a question. My husband and I purchased the Chiron...mostly based on your review. There is one really weird thing about it and we can't seem to get AnyCubic to respond to us. As you know, you have to use an SD card in order to print files. The weird thing is that the printer seems to keep all print jobs in a memory. We remove the file from the SD card after printing, but when we go to print another item, we have to scroll through all the previous print jobs before we can find what we want to print. We can't select the previous jobs, as they are no longer on the SD card, but it is quite annoying to have to scroll through a list of files. Do you have any idea how we can remove the print history? Thanks.

Based on your and a few other largely positive reviews, I was very tempted to purchase this but haven’t yet after being repelled by a surprising number of Amazon customers (some very experienced in 3D printing) issuing blistering reviews documenting various problems ranging from needlessly annoying to safety hazards. Those issues resulted in those printers being returned or turned into large paperweights. Thus I wonder, why the discrepancy between what you and they reported? Did you miss problems that may have surfaced with more extensive use? Are roughly one in six of these printers defective? Or perhaps were there problems that have subsequently been corrected? Relevant to that, some of their reviews came well after yours.
@fuzzyfuzz
@fuzzyfuzz 2 роки тому
FWIW, I have one and it's been solid. I think their review of it was pretty spot on. The interface and the bed leveling are annoying, but if you use OctoPrint as an interface it's makes up for a lot of the shortcomings. And it has a bed larger than the Prusa XL at a quarter of the price. My only other complaint was that it was pretty loud with the stock 4988 stepper drivers, so I upgraded to 2208s and configured everything in the Marlin 2 FW and once I got it dialed in it's the best printer in it's price range.

Depends on your budget, your skillset and how much you're willing to learn. • For relatively easy out of the box printing, great company support and great community support get a Prusa. The downside it's expensive. • For a great price and a huge community around it get a Crealty Ender 3. The downside, it may take more time to get it set up. And you will have to do the research and work yourself.

I would not say this is a good beginners printer. It's to big and slow for that. A Anycubic Mega is way faster, easier to use and it's build volume will print more then 90% of the things you would like to print. The Chiron is a good printer (I also have one) but it's mostly only good for big prints that you don't like to slice in parts like masks and helmets. And the printer that you don't mind having to print for days somewhere in the back. A 0.8 nozzle is a indeed good option here. For big prints with a 0.4 nozzle that's way faster then the Predator is a good option.

OH YOU ARE SO AMERICAN. LOL. Nothing wrong with that. So, I got mine from them like 3 years ago, came with a cracked bed (Very corner, like 1in by 1in), they shipped out a new one, should have kept that SD CARD or cloned it, since the AUTO-LEVEL program that was on that one, was 100% proper and worked well. The new updated version that came with the new machine (I had to send the whole thing back, which if I remember correctly, they paid for, I mean STELLAR customer service). But the new auto-level program is CRAP. Like the old one, the screws were moving on their own, the print arm was adjusting by itself, it was NEAT. NEW ONE nothing. I don't think it's the machine, think it's the code going to the machine.

This printer is so SLOW, it takes 25 days 24/24h print for a 400x400x450mm object with 5% fill at 0.3layer height 60mm/s max speed (3x more the time of a 10years old Makerbot would do). Resume function just knock out your large model partial print (was never tested correctly). Many Firmware Bugs when doing indenpendant X-Y-Z calibration, Z calibration need to be done last of else it bugs out (goes haywire). No position indicator LCD screen on manual adjustment making resume height impossible to estimate correct machine height. Resume function does not let time to remove debris (no confirmation, just runs and destroy)...This is an unsafe printer, don't recommend at all. When Preheating, there is no timeout...just runs forever!
