When he gets more in stock then I will support him by purchasing several. Agree 100%. I was surprised to see when I went to pre-order these that the total cost of the board + sensors + case was $84. I still pre-ordered a couple, but I am hoping that as this becomes popular and is manufactured at greater scale, the price can come down a bit. I can think of about 10 uses of them at my house. I am also excited to see what his next project is. :)

Direct Sunlight? Hi, thank you for bringing this great sensor to our attention. Have you tested it outside? Virtually any PIR sensor that I tested triggered false alerts when the sun was shining on it or when the sun was heating up the area under it (hot air moving upwards). I'd be interested to hear how it behaves outdoors.

This is a great device, comes in at about the same as a hue sensor but without needing to spend more on a hub and more accurate for motion sensing! My office light often goes off cos I'm motionless. I really like the light level sensors, they are great for bringing on the lights just as it starts to get dark outside. I have an artificial sunset taking the lights from cool white to warm white (essentially daytime light to more of a sunset colour). As sunset can be between 16:00-21:30 I can ensure I keep the white lights on longer to try and trick my brain into thinking it's not getting dark as early so if it gets dark between 19:00-21:00 it will trigger. If it happens before 19:00 or after 21:00, it just happens at the respective time. Gotta love Hassio!!

I used a simple ping sensor in HomeAssistant to monitor if my computer is on or off. I then use 2 automations, one which turns the office light on by either the motion sensor or the computer turning on. (This also checks the time of day, and only puts the light on if we're approaching or after sunset) Then a 2nd which triggers when the computer state changes from on to off, then turns off the office light after 5 minutes. I find this works better than relying on the motion sensor to spot that I'm sat there (but the mmwave sensors in this video do give me ideas for use in other rooms, just not needed in my home office)

This is freaking awesome!!! I was always struggeling with the cooldown and had to fiddle around with timeouts and things. But this one. I need like 10 or 12 of this ... Also whats up with the bluetooth part of it? Did you use it? Can you detect who is in the room too? With a sensor like THIS you could think about things like music following a person throughout the house! Like I am sitting and working in my studio and my girlfriend is doing her own business upstairs both listening to spotify on our Sonos Speakers (got like 9 rooms with Sonos/Ikea Speakers, could need 1-2 additional for the halways) and then your playback could like follow you. It could extend to the rooms you are going to (leaving it on at the master for a decent timeout, before switching masters (one might have a tiny break in playback when doing so)) So her podcast would just follow her into the bathroom while my music extends to the living room and kitchen when grabbing some food and kinda pulling back when I left those rooms and I am back into my studio ...

A few years ago I installed a Watts hot water recirculating device at my water heater. We had a long run from our water heater to the master shower requiring a long wait for hot water to arrive at the shower head. The watts came with a manual timer to set for times you would normally need the hot water quickly. Being retired our needs vary. I was able to plug the watts pump into an inexpensive smart plug to get an easier way to set up a routine with Alexa to turn on the pump to get the water ready for the shower. I discovered the PIR sensor to set up in the bathroom attached to the exhaust fan grill. Now this device will get me the hot water when we walk into the master bath. A routine will shut off the watt’s pump if there is no movement within a specified amount of time. A pir could be set up in additional bathrooms for quicker hot water there also. I have a routine set up so the pir will only work during sunrise to sunset so as not to start the pump during an overnight trip to bathroom. Your subs may be interested in this home automation idea. The pir runs on AAA batteries. I got the rechargeable ones and they last almost 3 months. The alkalines run down quicker. The plug in pir would be a better solution for some.

Dual technology (PIR, mmWave) sensors for security systems have been around for at least 20 years. usually the sensor will even detect movements behind it. They usually trigger the alarm when both sensors detect movement, so to prevent false alarms. It's very interesting

I have some onorder but currently use agara fp1 and additional pir sensors. I have lowered my Time to turn off lights but I set a temporary scene before cutting them off. Basically wait 3 mins, set temp scene, turn off lights, set timer (1 hour). If you return within the hour the temp scene gets called and the lights return the same as you left. If the timer has expired the default scene (based on time of day) gets called when motion is detected. Much better wife approval

I don't know what frequency those old handheld police doppler speed trap guns worked at, but if they were pointed at you, you could hear the doppler shift of the heart pumping and blood moving around. @EmilePolka
@EmilePolka Рік тому
mmwave is the holygrail for home automation, having that aqara fp1 basically just solve 99.99% of my problems with room presence. while this one is neat, I dont really need a AIO sensor like this, I actually need this to be placed on different areas of my (eg PIR sensor) to exactly know where I am, aqara fp1 actually have this radar like capabilities to know where your exactly at, but for now, ZHA and Z2M cant utilize this feature. If they finally able to utilize this feature, automation base where you were at is a big one addition for home automation.

These sounds like an amazing sensor, I’m building my forever home and plan to do my smart home set up as I go so I’m researching everything I might need or want. My smart home will mainly just automatically respond to things, my curtains will open because the sun came up, close because it set, lights will come on cause someone walked in, turn off cause someone left, my door will unlock because I pulled up to the house, this sorta thing so this sensor could be a game changer for me. I have a few concerns tho, for my household specifically. 1 I have large dogs that’s are home and moving around when I ain’t and 2 I use ceiling fans, love them, I will have them in every bedroom and a huge one in the open living room/dining/kitchen area and they will run constantly. I know I could mount at ceiling and use the distance restriction to get around the pet thing probably but if I do that then does it see the ceiling fans as someone there constantly? I know with my indoor cameras I have to use the custom viewing fields to blank out my ceiling fans or my cameras are just constantly triggering for motion, I assume the PIR sensor would do the same in this sensor.

The things I'm not a big fan: - the USB cable cannot be plugged from behind - The STL for the case is not available - It has a lot of things for the presence, but much less things on the air quality And especially that it has a quite high consumption(probably due to the presence sensor) and there is no way a battery will work very long(compared to other sensors that can work 6 months on battery). I'm more looking for a netatmo replacement on my end ;)
